It's very impressive what they did with the hardware and all the customization. They really just need to show some comparisons with older exclusives between XB1 & Scorpio, and 3rd party multiplats. They give us the new exclusives and new IP's running on the hardware. I hope they've acquired a few more studios.

The Xbox Scorpio is very impressive especially after watching the Digital Foundry break down of what Microsoft's engineer's were able to accomplish.

I need to watch the video again because MS were able to due to pull and implement multiple new technologies, especially with DX12 as one of them.
They we're able to enhance more less Raw performance and make it more efficient as well. I know powerful PC GPUs run a lot of games unoptimised and dependent on Raw performance and GPU driver's.
The Scorpio looks to stop this trend and I hope this type of Pipeline goes into Desktop GPUs with DX12 enabled.

On the topic of if they acquired new studios, they haven't. That kind of thing would be public record unless they used a dummy company to hide the fact....which they have no real reason to, as they'd likely want that kind of positive press.

The press pays enough attention that someone would have caught if MS brought or opened a new studio. There is lots of indicators if they were opening one. There would be press releases if they brought a studio.

Likely, MS will be doing more 2nd party stuff where they pay 3rd party devs to create games. Nothing wrong with that, and it doesn't have the overhead of having to run a studio.

Anyhow, the rest of your comment, comparisons would be apt, but I'm not sure how effective that is with the way marketing is done nowadays. Anything they show that's in 4K would be lost on most people. Even when you see the PS4P comparisons on the net now, the Pro versions don't look anywhere near as good as they do when running them yourself. You'll be able to see the visual improvements on graphics themselves, but not how it all comes together with HDR and 4K(no matter how it's rendered), because most people don't have the actual displays to show off the difference.

Best comparison I can think of is seeing a Samsung or LG commercial for new 4K displays. They can't really show much, except talk about it, and have some pretty colors, which are artificially mocked up to look good. Basically, how do you show off something good on something old?

I think that's why Sony still shows it's games on PS4 instead of Pro....which is something I think MS should do too, because I think it builds good faith that they're not leaving people behind. Those really interested in the Scorpio will likely have better means to see what Scorpio is capable of.

I agreed with everything you said except that Microsoft should show games on the X1 instead of Scorpio like Sony does with ps4. Nah, even if it's a tiny difference between the two because of the display even normal folks get that because we've all been in Best Buy or whatever and seen how brilliant 4k content looks compared to 1080p. If you haven't then you just don't care, which isn't the target consumer anyway. I remember people understood you cant see a high def image on a old tv as well, lol its pretty simple you need a HD display to see HD. Plus their ad campaign will certainly point this out AND clearly state the game is on Xbox One as well.....so no, no one should feel left out.

I didn't mean to imply that they shouldn't show games at all on the Scorpio. I was looking at it more like how Sony is currently doing PS4 games, where they still show them off on the OGPS4. It doesn't make the games look more impressive than what the vast majority of players will actually get. That's typically frowned upon.

When it comes to showing off the Scorpio, they should indeed show it at venues where it can show it off. Best Buy and what not. I wouldn't even be upset about them releasing online media which shows it off.

Was just referring to the overall marketing for their games to the mass consumer market.

All games that run 60 fps on xbox one can run 4K 60 fps on scorpio with 4k assets and overhead.

Digital foundry confirmed that the scorpio is able to scale 900p up to 4K natively in a patch from a dev.

Theres a lot of 60 fps games from shooters,racers, and sports games on xbox one.

BS, a 720p (anything lower than 900p and not even all 900p games) game at 60fps on X1 is not going to run at 4k@60fps on Scorpio. DigitalFoundry said that 900p games can run with the SAME FRAMERATE CAP at 2160p with effort and that it would be easy for games that run 1080p, but lower than 900p is not going to work at all...

And don't forget that any 30fps game will suddenly do 60fps on Scorpio, don't forget that either, because that was important too, you just reacted to the resolution bit, but most important is the fps in my comment as well....

Games being patched to higher resolutions higher than what it initially shipped with is not a new thing. Ac Unity and other games shipped lower resolution then later on were given higher resolutions on PS4 via a patch. That is to be expected.

30fps games will not suddenly become 60fps games AND be in native 4k, that's impossible, I don't understand why you can't see that!

Also games that render below 900p on the X1 will not run native 4k on Scorpio, that will also be impossible.

You DO understand though that to go from 30fps to 60fps that the GPU needs to render twice as many frames per second, right? And that that means the GPU needs to be twice as fast?

I think another reason is because for this entire gen a lot of focus was aimed at power, resolution and graphics. So MS like Sony recognized this and both are now providing mid gen upgrades.

Its obvious MS sees games is the next point of focus.

When a company has a new console in the works for example the Neo, you have to expect a lot of excitement and talk of anticipation. When you have e3 just a month or two away, people get excitied in what might be shown off with it.

So when these people who are excited, the same way the excitment was for Neo or Switch read comments like yours it does come off as extreme high sodium and being a native of Haiti.

I think the main reason why MS chose DF is not only were they confident with this system but they knew if they had Major Nelson or some other Xbox guy explaining it, people on the net would call it PR bs and wouldn't believe a word.

DF through many comparison articles integrity has rarely been questioned here on this site, i doubt it should be questioned now just because they got the scoop on Scorpio first.

Real reason I wouldn't bother getting a Scorpio is because MS hasn't really done that great of a job of supporting the current X1, and more recently, it seems like an afterthought with Scorpio getting all the attention.

Well that's because it's true for a lot of people. I'm a gamer first and foremost...I'm not some platform whore. Having said this I feel that this entire generation I've yet to see a Xbox One game (that isn't on PC at least) that has caught my attention and been a game I WANTED to play. The PS4 on the other hand has a ton of exclusives that I can't wait to play!

And again, this isn't bias on my part. Granted, I only own a PS3 and 360 now (main rig is the PC) but I have NO issue saying that the 360 has the better dashboard interface (the PS3 takes forever to do anything), over all speed, and better graphics in most games. None of this though changes the fact that the PS3 for me still had the better and more unique exclusives. The 360 is the better console hands down in most categories here.

Same is true this time around as well. Sure, the Scorpio has the better specs and is the faster console but none of that matters when the games I don't want to play go from 900p to 4K...

So yeah, if you want to bring it up, then at least understand each side of the matter.

Ps4 doesn't have exclusives that interest me and many others. There are people that don't like jrpgs or solo single play through games. So I'll invest into the platform that has true BC, playanywhere that now brings those games over to my high end PC which was originally intended for Pc only games. I could care less about allot of Japanese games. But I will say that I love Ace Combat series, and Phil shouldn't have went to Japan, and rather invest more in new non japanes style exclusives

Clearly just looking at the insides of this thing you can see this systems heat consumption is gonna be low.

This thing is running at 1172 mhz with a vapor chamber that could possible be clocked closer 1200mhz before release because of how much lack of heat on the board.

Thats what the xbox one should have been, and same with ps4 pro is what ps4 should have been (even tho ps4 is already great) but if we think about it like this: Just delay the console releases a few more years (make sure you pump out the games) and we still dont have to pay prices like $699.

What Im saying is I for one would prefer to get these capabilities in a console then and there than pay for Nex Gen console + Pay for console iteration years later. Seems like you would spend less money...Best analogy I have right now is im not a fan of iPhone, then iPhone S the following year, they should just make the iPhone S the iphone and delay it a year or two so its not as expensive... Yes, I know technology also upgrades fast too...theres that..

PlayStation fans finally get some games and Xbox some how hasn't dropped an exclusive since 2013 apparently.

For 3 years I played maybe 3 exclusives on PS4 and this year alone I've played that in the first few months of 2017.

Blowing your load doesn't equal Xbox having no games because I'm pretty sure I've invested more time and money in the Xbox exclusives released over the years. People really need to fuck off with that boring repetitive exclusive arguments...and no...exclusives don't sell consoles.

PlayStation could have no exclusives and still sell more units.... it's called Nostalgia Based Consumerism. People buy names. The gap between PlayStation and Xbox exceeds the amount exclusives sold combined... that's a story all in itself and defeats the logic of you N4G cave dwellers

OH WOW!, I didn't realize but I see not a good precedent on the hardware design, take a look what is holding the heatsink in the CPU part, looks familiar ?, well it should be, thats the damn exact heatsink holder that uses the very first xbox 360 model!, the problem with that holder is that since is placed by pressure and not screws with time that holder will get loosen hence causing not a good contact the heatsink with the CPU, and knowing all the stuff the core will be doing I foresee huge overheating issues, the return of the 3RROD ?

Hell even MS didn't point it out in the webpage, such and important part and is using a 12 year old design for the CPU heatsink!, they need to fix this asap!.

Almost every heat sink I've ever seen uses pressure springs to "attach" the heatsink to the chip. Pressure springs are fine. Screw down heatsinks actually can damage the system more, as they require more pressure on the screws, and don't flex when the chip heats up and expands. This can cause damage to the chip itself. It would take quite a bit of force to have the pressure springs wear down to the point that they are no longer effective, and under normal operations, they won't ever have that much force applied to them.

The reason for RROD was that MS used terrible solder connections, and the heating solution within the system wasn't sufficient enough to keep that remelting, and then becoming brittle over time. The heat sink and air flow of the system itself was insufficient for the heat generated. It wasn't because they used pressure springs.

Anyhow, looking at the pictures, it looks like standard fare for many chips nowadays. They either use special spring type screws, or some sort of pressure bracket spring. This is the same kind of heat sink pattern I have on my PC at home, and it's been chugging along fine for about 7 years now. PS3 had the same set up as I recall. Most GPU's I see at work have something like this. So on and so forth.

Maybe I'm missing something that you see, but seems pretty normal to me.

Xbox one does have a pretty solid lineup this year in terms of console exclusives. Halo wars 2, forza 7, state of decay 2 , city skyline, crack down 3, ori and blind forest, cup head and sea of theives. Not sure what people are bitching about microsoft game lineup

Damn... I hope that's picture doesn't represent just how big and bulky the console will be. Specs however look great but at the end of the day its about the games that run on it.
