This Is Your Last Chance To Pick Up Playstation Plus Before The Price Becomes Hiked

On August 22nd Sony announced that they would increase the price of Playstation Plus.  This caused much despair amongst PlayStation fans, but others have remained optimistic as the line-up for the free games of the month seemed to justify the incoming price gouge.   You can get an entire year here before it’s $60.00  http://amzn.to/2clOBb9

Chumdiddy2791d ago

FITgamer,

How do you order from that site if in USA? It doesn't allow you to enter anything but a Canadian address even if they send the code via email. My card address is in USA.

Thanks for any help.

alfcrippinjr2791d ago

Frodosmugins2791d ago

You won't be saying expensive when games like Killzone,Order,Bloodbourne etc, possibly come free in the near future.

@PlayableGamez-

"Sony can suck a fat one with that price hike...

Ohh the irony in this is way funny. You realize the discount is from the website. Sony still gets their money....

i'll continue not paying for online and play their single player offerings.

Edit: Just so we're clear I only own a ps4 this isn't some slant about one console over the other that the people below me seem to have gotten into. Also, to the person saying I have issues for saving 60 dollars a year, being wise with money doesn't mean I have a problem.

Eidolon2791d ago

Okay sure, but it's for the free games too, like em or not it's a good value.

EpicSandwich2791d ago

Not really every ps plus game is a let down. Haven't renewed my ps plus all year.

Majin-vegeta2791d ago

@Epic you gotta own a PS in the first place to be able to renew ;)

Eidolon2791d ago

Well i've liked a lot of them just haven't put focus on most of them because i need to play my paid games first.

Bolts2791d ago

You gotta be kidding me. The so called free games are absolutely shit. Wish I can just pay for the online and get a discount. I don't need their free garbage.

Eidolon2791d ago

You are absolutely right, Bolts, I think they should split the services.

phoenixwing2791d ago

I'm not here to be sold on psn plus or xbox live. i simply don't pay for a service (which is what it is) that makes games disappear after it runs out. Plus i pay for my own internet and it's asinine to pay for the "privilege" to use it again. I'd rather save 60 dollars a year and buy a single player game instead of relying on luck of the draw for random games. I like online play don't get me wrong, I just don't like it THAT much as to pay for it.

Utalkin2me2791d ago

@EpicSandwich

You cant say all games are a let down if you dont even own PS+

Probably wanna quit while you're ahead. Just embarrassing yourself at this point.

emad-E-three2791d ago

Sorry and no offense but if you can't afford 60$ a year then you may have a problem!

Bolts2791d ago

I can afford $200 a year. Should they raise the price to how much I can afford? Let's get real, this a 16% increase for zero value in return. They add nothing while they take from you more.

Regardless of your budget that should piss you off. Only fanboys and idiots supports this price increase.

xMANB3ARP1G2791d ago

Bolts if you own a xbox and pay for live im gonna disregard all future post from you outherwise you are right they shouldnt increase the price just becuase ppl can afford it if that was the case apple would have a system already. I already have a year i got on sale so i will just wait to see if the value improves in the free games as some are cool but most just arent something i wanna play but the discounts will keep me around.

Utalkin2me2791d ago

@Bolts

How can you say they add nothing? Just another Xbox fanboy posting with emotions instead of logic. Becoming common place anymore. And looking through your comments you didn't get upset like this when Xbox raised live 10 dollars and they still didn't even offer monthly games with live. Only fanboys and idiots would act this way.

iTechHeads2791d ago (Edited 2791d ago )

That's fine.
Not playing online games is crazy though. You're missing out.

phoenixwing2791d ago

I've always liked single player games over multiplayer ones. It's just my preference. I agree I'm missing out to some degree but not enough for me to pay for online. If i'm going to pay a subscription i might play ff 14 on my ps4 because that doesn't require plus.

andresegr2791d ago

I will keep subscribed to the service.

Im not the one who plays a lot of online games, but having a PS Vita, PS3 and PS4, their Six Free monthly games are just too tempting for me.

Im fine paying for one annual fee, but not two. My Xbox One will remain as it is, solely for single player exclusives.

Bought mine last week. Only need one more year cuz I'm gonna build a PC when I get my tax refund. I'll keep my PS4 just for the exclusives. Screw Sony for this they're letting their success get to their heads.

There won't be no more acquiring game publishers from Microsoft in the future . Xbox has to pay Microsoft back. It might take two decades to do that.

sagapo17h ago(Edited 17h ago)

I don’t understand what you’re saying. Xbox IS microsoft so there’s no “paying back “.
And MS gross profit in 2023 was over 140 billion dollars so forget your 2 decades.

Unless you mean the money MS invested in Xbox (acquisitions included) and the time it will take for xbox as a brand to gain that money back on it’s own, then yeah, that could take a while.

romulus2310h ago

The better term to use might be return on investment, xbox is simply a division of Microsoft one that MS can easily do away with if profit margins are not met. So in that regard he's right, if xbox isn't showing the expected return on investment the higher ups are expecting than it's unlikely Microsoft will acquire any other studios any time soon, especially if they are spending billions buying developers just to shut them down in the end.

MrBaskerville3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Xbox is a division that they discussed shutting down but doubled down on after Gamepass was pitched.

It needs to make money at some point. Big money.

rokos1h ago

According to Statista the net income of Microsoft is about $72.4 billion dollars which is a bit lower than last year profit. That is almost as much as Activision's acquisition but I assume that would be a one off since it costs so much plus I see how their focus has been shifted to AI, thus any major future investments will probably be in that area.

i think you are really missing the point

Xbox isn’t a separate company from Microsoft. It’s all Microsoft.

There really needs to be a class action lawsuit here. You buy these companies just to put people out of jobs. And it’s not like something happened to derail their plans this WAS the plan. Microsoft has no business in this space at all.

franwex19h ago(Edited 19h ago)

Microsoft has been doing this for years. They simply want the IPs. Look at Nokia. Look at Skype. This time it simply expanded to games. Gaming is not as important to Microsoft’s executives as it was to the founders too. Bill Gates was willing to sell the og Xbox at a loss. Steve Balmer approved the red ring of death fiasco. This CEO isn’t really a gamer.

-Foxtrot19h ago

Maybe it's time though to put a stop to it and use a big giant like Microsoft as a huge example to the rest of these big companies.

There has to be a line drawn somewhere.

People like the FTC and the like went against Microsoft yet their Actvision deal was still allowed to go through yet look what's happened...it's not even Acitivisions studios aswell, it's Bethesdas.

RNTody19h ago

Ninja Theory, Perfect Dark, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Wolfenstein 3, Dishonored, Prey, Doom, Quake... something tells me that bad things are going to happen to these entities under Microsoft.

MrDead9h ago

ID software, the makers of Doom and Wolfenstein that have been with us since 1991 could be gone and MS will keep the IPs.

I hope some of these studios can buy their freedom from MS otherwise this is going to be even more devastating for the industry and gamers.

Yui_Suzumiya6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

That's exactly what I'm worried about. I've been a fan of id since Wolfenstein 3D and I'm honestly afraid.

lodossrage2h ago

Toys for Bob saw the writing on the wall and bought themselves out.

Wouldn't be the first time a company did that under MS either. Bungie and Twisted Pixel did the same. Considering what just happened, I can see some other devs trying to buy themselves out too.

anast18h ago

Good thing the bosses of all those small studios made their money.

glenn197918h ago

they cant do it right now they will get burned

XiNatsuDragnel10h ago

Phil and his team need to be gone

lodossrage2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

Won't make a difference.

The whole structure needs to be overhauled. Anyone that replaces Phil will be no different than him, Mattrick, or anyone else.

Until the company changes how they go about business, nothing will change

lodossrage2h ago

True,

But they may as well get it over with. Whether it happens now or later, the burning is going to hit the same.

Reality is the ONE move that can alleviate a lot of this is the one move they can't make. Remove day 1 from gamepass.
