Rise of the Tomb Raider Graphics Comparison - PS4 vs PC vs Xbox One

Take a look at how the three versions of the game stack up against one-another.

King_Lothric3206d ago

PS4 footage pre beta? Why even bother on making this video then? Wait for the final product for God sake.

Nitrowolf23206d ago (Edited 3206d ago )

I'm pretty sure despite its saying its pre-beta this is most likely going to be very close to the final build.

I really can't tell the difference if there are any they basically look exactly the same. So unless it has some sort of modifications like PC enhancement or something along the lines don't expect it to look any different

mark_parch3206d ago

they all look identical to me lol

UltimateMaster3205d ago

The main difference there will be is that the PS4 version comes with all the DLC.

PrinterMan3205d ago

Sorry but the PS4 version will look a lot different than the PC version, depending of course on the PC. I just upgraded to a GTX 1080 (I know I'm gloating but its soooo cool) and play at 4k so yeah, plenty of difference for sure. These static systems to dynamic system comparisons are completely unfair. In order to do comparisons properly you would need to compare to a PC comparable to a PS4. But then why ?

UltimateMaster3205d ago

Except Printerman, they still all look exactly the same...
Microsoft didn't wanted the game to look better on PC because of their Xbox One.
You'll get better frame rate if you buy the Steam version (or any version that isn't the Windows Store version because you can't use SLI just yet)
Microsoft isn't publishing the PS4 version.

I think there will definitely be PS4 vs. Xbox One differences given a year will have passed between releases, and they have had A LOT of time to optimize it for Sony's console. PS4 fans will be happy me thinks.

GearSkiN3206d ago

looks the same terrible comparison,

Speak_da_Truth3206d ago

And they want me to pay $60 for it like it's some sort of brand new game. You ppl comparing this to remasters what you got to say now? It's the same exact game that will be releasing a year later on ps4 with dlc that will probably also be cheap on those other platform. Not worth $60 for me

OldGuyStillGaming3206d ago

For you to say it's not worth it and haven't even played it is kinda ignorant.
Why can't you just forget it came out on X1 first and just enjoy the game for what it is?
It's a fantastic game with a lot of replayability.
I buy a shitload of games on all 3 of my consoles and this game is easily top 5 this current gen.

Speak_da_Truth3206d ago

It's not worth $60 after waiting a full year for it. The quality of the game is not the issue here. It's how long the game has been out. Some of the best games ever released get price drops after being out for a year and no I'm not going to ignore the fact that it released on other platforms. Why do you think they're including the dlc content for the ps4 version? It's to give the game more value to justify it's $60 price tag for ps4 version but for me personally I'll wait for a sale.

Loktai3206d ago

I'm with speak on this ...

After it comes to Xbox and PC, they obviously didn't use the time to optimize or improve the game for ps4, it's just a port of a complete game. It's a salary grab. They want the Xbox timed exclusive chunk of money, they want to sell it to Xbox fans and PC players and finally, they graciously offer it to Playstation fans- the fan base that made tomb raider popular to begin with- and they want you to pay full price. I have seen this game deeply discounted on the other platforms by now. It's not so much that I'm insulted or feel the game isn't worth money

OB1Biker3206d ago (Edited 3205d ago )

'Why can't you just forget it came out on X1 first and just enjoy the game for what it is?'
Why 'forget'?
Nobody is saying it's not a good game. But why do you think they HAVE TO buy it on 'launch' day? Anyone can wait for the price to be right for them. And seeing the same games dirt cheap on other shelves is not enticing to buy it for more.

Edit: @ Pete down
Your completely off IMO
All the examples your giving are completely different and people actually did complain.
No need to come back on how the game was revealed as multi plat and then re-revealed later as supposed 'exclusive' and all the drama.
Point is you can't force people to say they are happy to pay a price they don't want to pay while it's so easy to just wait as there's no rush.

Petebloodyonion3206d ago

And of course no one complained when Gran theft auto 5 were release a year after at full price on PS4, Xbox one and and after that PC.

No one complained when they release Tomb Raider definitve version at 40$ on ps4 when you could buy the Pc version a 5$ on Steam.

again No one complained about Bioshock 1, Mass effect 2 being at full price.

And should I talk about all the remasters that come on Ps4 with almost no work done on it at 40$ price each when you can grab the minus 1080P version at 10$?

No PPL don't complain and actually they cheers!
Now the reason of ppl being salty is because the game was on another platform 1st and they believe and they feel that Square should owned them something even if they didn't bought the 1st game (By hearing all the Tomb Raiders suck prove that they never played the franchise).

And on a final note If you are screaming that Square Enix is a sellout where are all the the hate thread about Shenmue 3 being exclusive to Sony? Last I check wasn't it a brand that was on the Dreamcast when they were buddy buddy with MS and ohhhh yeah and Xbox?
When did Sony had a Shenmue game?
But guess what? Were all happy about Shenmue and if it come out on Xbox 1 or pc a year later then PPL will have no problems paying it a full price.

freshslicepizza3205d ago (Edited 3205d ago )

$60 on the ps4 seems like a fair price, it includes all the dlc and the game is still full price on steam. i wonder if anyone that was advocating there is no need to get an xbox one now that microsoft is releasing its games on the pc still plans to buy this on the ps4? seems quite contradictory.

8$ on pc.Good deal.Runs very good at 4k(5820K,SLI 1080s).

Majister-Ludi3205d ago (Edited 3205d ago )

Than you are a fool. If you only own a ps4 than its a brand new game. The fact that it released early on other platforms does not detract from its value. Go ahead pass it up it was one of the best games of last year, and even a year late it will be one of the top games released on ps4. Grow up you get a top notch game with all dlc included and bugs fixed. Sounds like a great deal for those who haven't played it yet. By the way you speak no truth only ignorance.

Speak_da_Truth3205d ago

No one is passing on the game and no it is not a new game. it has been out on the market for a full year just not on the Ps4. Just cus it's not on Ps4 doesn't mean I've seen nothing of the game around the internet. I'm just not buying the game for anything more than $30.

kbozz713205d ago

I agree. Considering this was already down to like ~$35 during the Steam summer sale and can be had for around $40 or less ($29.95 on eBay new) on X1, should never had been over $39.99 on the ps4.

Zero Dawn sold really well so I’m not sure this belongs. The second game released next to a big game again and it hurt it some I forget what it was though, oh yeah Elden Ring .
But a good game is a good game to me I don’t care when they release personally but they do have to think about it when you want to get more people to buy it.

The Tomb Raider Survivor Trilogy's Take on Lara Croft Deserved More Recognition

The Survivor Trilogy was a drastic reimagining of Lara Croft and Tomb Raider, and it provokes changes for the character that are truly fantastic.

Deserves less IMO, i think the 1st in the new trilogy was a perfect 1st step for the new direction. The next 2 games were half steps at best. Not only that, every character in the series including Lara is just annoying and doesn't make sense in terms of motive, like yes they have a motive, but none of it seems proportional to the lengths they are willing to go through for it. The most annoying thing is every one of the games say "become the Tomb Raider" yet 3 games later and we're still not there? No thanks. Then there's the mess of the 3rd game, massive skill tree that serves almost no purpose as there's literally only like 3-4 short encounters in the whole game, and they took till the 3rd game to finally manage some decent puzzles even remotely close to previous games in the series. Nah, the trilogy infuriated me to no end as a long time fan of the series, i hope we get better going forward cause that crap sucked.

Army_of_Darkness835d ago

The first in the trilogy was my favorite. I thought they were going into the right direction with that one until the second one came out and seemed like a graphical downgrade but the gameplay was okay. As for the Third, Graphics were really nice but it was kinda boring me to death with its non-stop platforming and exploring with not enough action! Well, for me anyway...

DeathTouch835d ago

Graphics on the 3rd one were abysmal. It’s more colorful and has more variety, but everything else was a noticeable downgrade.

The more open world with NPC quests was also handled very poorly, to the point I missed Angel of Darkness.

thesoftware730835d ago

I know it is your opinion, but she did progress as a character in each game, she even got more muscular and seasoned.

That is the thing, people first complained that there was not enough platforming and actual tomb raiding in the first and second games. Shadow remedied that and kept the combat elements.

3-4 encounters? huh? did we play the same game? there was plenty of combat and, the skill tree did matter, like being able to hang enemies from trees, set explosives traps on bodies, being able to counter, and that are just a few of the combat skills. The skill tree also had things like being able to hold your breath underwater longer, crafting upgrades, zipline upgrade, and climbing upgrades that all changed how you can approach situations.

Not knocking your opinion, but we definitely had different experiences. I had 98% completion on the shadow.

SoulWarrior835d ago (Edited 835d ago )

Sorry but i'm with him about the low number of encounters, the game throws loads of weapons and skills you're way with a comparatively low amount of places to actually use them, so they felt under utilised.

-Foxtrot837d ago

Yeah...no

It was awful, for THREE GAMES it was "become the Tomb Raider" where she went back to square one after each game. Not to mention after a huge reaction of killing someone for the first time she then becomes Rambo straight after and goes on a slaughter spree without a single other reaction. Her development was all over the place.

She was whiney, weak and in later game a little arrogant and selfish

Oh and the voice actress compared to the previous ones was not as good

Lara Croft deserved better and while they are decent games as they are, we deserved actual Tomb Raider games, we could have had better survival games if they just stuck with the original Lara Crofts origin about her plane going down. Surviving 2 weeks in the Himalayas...I'd have liked to seen that, who knows what mystical threat she could have faced in the mountains or underground some secret concealed cave.

Tacoboto835d ago

I thought Shadow of the Tomb Raider had better gameplay than Rise, but it annoyed me the most of the trilogy when I stopped to think about the story.

It's like they deliberately decided to make her unlikeable and did nothing to make the character you're playing as likeable or have even one sign of humility.

SoulWarrior837d ago

2013 I thought was a fine entry, but Rise and especially Shadow were painfully mediocre follow ups imo, I really didn't like how selfish and angry her character was in those two.

Terry_B835d ago

No. Please forget the crap completely.

northpaws835d ago

First one was decent, played through it twice.
Second one was okay, played through it once.
Third one was really bad, tried twice a year apart, still can't get through the first two hours, it is just really bad.

thesoftware730835d ago

Honest question, what did you find bad about it? the opening 2 hrs of Shadow were fantastic imo.

The opening was very similar to the first 2, what did you find really bad?

Not looking for an argument, just an honest question.

Starman69835d ago

3rd one just didn't feel like a tomb raider game. Possibly because the development was passed to another development team. Big mistake! Microsoft killed tomb raider making the first game a timed exclusive. Never recovered after that.

They're all solid games, but nothing quite matched the epicness of the first one for me. I think the 3rd one started off strong but once you got to that Peruvian area it took a massive nose dive for me.

lelo2play1216d ago (Edited 1216d ago )

You got to be kidding!
The first one was great at the time... but this latest trilogy of Tomb Raider games are also great.

LiViNgLeGaCY1216d ago

I think he means the first one in the new trilogy.

CrimsonWing691216d ago

I meant the first of the new trilogy.

Furesis1216d ago

yeah i remember liking the first one when it came out, so i tried the second one sometime after release and i just could not get into it, i couldn't finish it. So i might try the 3rd now that i got it for free but ehh. But i do remember enjoying the first one, i wonder if i'd feel the same way if i played it today? Better not taint those memories lol

ANIALATOR1361215d ago

I was the same for some reason. Never finished the second one. I got like half way through maybe.

ActualWhiteMan1215d ago (Edited 1215d ago )

The first one of the latest trilogy is a masterpiece

Fishy Fingers1216d ago

I'll take a copy of Shadow... Cheers.

Profchaos1216d ago

Great games I've played them all on ps4 but it'll be good to finally try shadow on my rtx card.

Double_O_Revan1216d ago

Trying to claim them and the store keeps crashing. lol.

gamefreaks3651216d ago

EGS has been having issues all day.

RedDevils1216d ago

Weird I don't has that issue.

Double_O_Revan1216d ago

I finally got it after a while. But it was real bad for a while.

PeeShuter1216d ago (Edited 1216d ago )

Claim games by going to the website and login using ur credentials. I did the same as i couldnt use epic launcher. Also try reinstalling Epic Launcher I did it and it worked.

Double_O_Revan1215d ago

I always go through the website. It was all just down for a while yesterday it seems.
