Street Fighter V’s R. Mika’s Default Costume Was Judged too Sexy by the ESPN at EVO

Yesterday EVO 2016 saw the crowning of Infiltration as the Street Fighter V champion, and Fuudo, who ended up in second place, had a bit of an issue… with R. Mika’s default costume.

Well duh, what sport on ESPN ever has something so revealing? It still baffles me that the game got away with a T rating, if it was a show or movie it would've been R/MA for prolonged partial nudity. And no I'm not exaggerating.

Lbolt1872871d ago

I hate the new SF cause of these stupid outfits. DoA is worse though.

NotEvenMyFinalForm2871d ago

More like you hate the entire franchise because those characters and outfits have always been there.

Yeah, it's not like beefcakes in spandex onesies aren't on TV wrestling and swimming on espn, and it's definitely not like both men and women are running around in basically just their underwear on TV all the time. Female (fake) wrestlers that are her inspiration definitely don't wear outfits that sexy or flaunt their sexuality constantly and definitely don't make it onto TV.

OH WAIT.
https://www.youtube.com/wat...

It's not like Zangief's man package isn't also in the game or anything. And ehonda and dalsim and their diapers were never an issue.

As far as I'm concerned they could all be but ass naked and the game should still get a T rating for violence, the nudity (partial or otherwise) shouldn't even be a factor.

Jason_Plays_PC2871d ago

Kalebninja im convinced you're just a troll at this stage it's pretty obvious.

DaigotheKing2871d ago

Yeah I mean its not like people parade around in bikinis and thongs on tv all the time right.

Are you even a real person lmao.

thejigisup2871d ago

wwwwhhhaaaaa?????

pulled directly from the mpaa filmratings.com theres a pretty good amount of skin and violence. So i'm not really sure where you're pulling that R/MA rating out of. If you havent seen DOA then heres a few screens to show off a little bit of what youre missing out on

@kaleb:

"what sport on ESPN ever has something so revealing?"

have you never seen women's beach volleyball?

also - playing video games is not a sport.

TorpeAlex2871d ago

Try about one in three ESPN women's covers.

Dir_en_grey2871d ago

@Kalebninja
I was simply trying to show that what you believe to be "partial nudity" and deem inappropriate and those that stone women for showing their faces are the same. Same with ESPN and the far right in America.

All these believes and "standards" are purely effected off of people taking religion to the extremes that they can't even remember where these craziness comes from. When in reality what they are doing is way worse than what they are belittling, and what they are belittling doesn't even cause any actual problems to begin with anyway.

Was simply trying to state what makes your "standard" better than the other people's standards when they are based off of the same idiotic craziness.

INMATEofARKHAM2871d ago

Well, they have that whole ESPN the Body issue for their magazine they are always promoting with pictures.

ESPN just looks pitiful in this...

rainslacker2871d ago (Edited 2871d ago )

Woman's Gymnastics?

Football/basketball cheerleaders?

Maybe some tennis players?

Competitive Dance teams?

Professional swimming...which oddly has the males more revealed than the females.

Beach Volleyball?

Professional weight lifting?

This

http://abcnews.go.com/Enter...

And this

http://www.thesportster.com...

and of course this

http://sportige.com/espn-bo...

Heck, it's a yearly thing.

Then of course there are their numerous female reporters who are almost all rather attractive and some considered to be among the sexiest sports reporters in the business...although not as revealing during their broadcast.

Shall I go on?

Nathan_Hale532870d ago

Cannot agree with this more.

KwietStorm_BLM2871d ago

You say you're not exaggerating, but..not sure if serious..

Deadpooled2871d ago

Yet their own magazine has much more revealing stuff....

Where was the outcry with her costume in Street Fighter Alpha or any other such "revealing" fighter in any other fighting game? Why nowadays the outcry? It's like these SJWs have seen an opportunity to influence something they think they can, and unfortunately some developers like Capcom and organisations like ESPN are falling for it and pandering to the wishes of these creatures.

It's like a fad, one SJW gets their "influence" in an industry realised by such a small minded dev and then the rest come flocking like geese, picking out very tiny "flaws" eg this R Mika butt, the Tracer butt etc trying to influence the fabric of gaming and creative freedom. As long as developers resist them the fad will eventually die and the SJWs will move on.

Nathan_Hale532870d ago

Seriously? Surprised of a T rating? It is no different then seeing a model or a person in a bathing suit. America is the only place that gives a damn about "sexiness" when every other 1st world country respects the body and honestly doesn't give one mate.

Sh**ts hilarious. Typically you would see outfits like this at fetish balls/clubs. 'Cause you always see arena fighters arrive in butt-out latex and garter belts. I guess they can only make the character as interesting as her outfit is. Shallow.

KwietStorm_BLM2871d ago

Same outfit she had generations ago in Alpha. And that shallow character finished in 2nd place at the premier fighting tournament in the world.

Majin-vegeta2871d ago

In other news.Shes had this costume since SFA3.Give me a break.Bunch of no lifes complaining about nothing.

UltimateMaster2870d ago

Girls are sexy. Men are buffed. How is this news?

StarElite2871d ago (Edited 2871d ago )

Can't say I'm surprised, ESPN is owned by Disney afterall.

Eonjay2871d ago

Exactly what I was thinking.

rainslacker2871d ago (Edited 2871d ago )

Yeah, Disney prefers to objectify and exploit everyone equally without being obvious about it.

Seriously though, Disney does have productions which aren't all whitewashed. They understand the nature of sex appeal just as well as any other company out there, and will use it in any way possible, in any place possible. I mean, just look at all the beautiful people they put as the leads in their kids/teens programming. They don't make them all sexy like Mika here, but they aren't exactly the pillars of showing common people as something special.

ITPython2871d ago

Although oddly enough back in the day Disney movies were notorious for having some pretty adult themed easter eggs. Anybody remember the little mermaid boxart? Raging boner would be a good way to describe it. Or the scene in Aladdin were you could hear somebody whisper something dirty with the volume turned up high enough? And these were kids movies!

Street Fighter 5: Analysing a Tarnished Legacy

Street Fighter 5 launched in 2016, and is widely considered a misstep for the hugely popular franchise. This article explains why that is.

Terry_B151d ago

Every Street Fighter is called a misstep of the series since Street Fighter III..and even the Alpha games were not liked by everyone.

SF V had a miserable start but later it did a lot things actually better than SFIV and SF6.

SF6 is the first SF since SFII Turbo for that I did not buy at launch. And today, around 6 months after its launch I still have no motivation to buy it.

kevco33149d ago

I've had every Street Fighter on launch since SFII on the SNES. SFV is definitely my least played of them all.

SF6 is very good. You should give it a second look.

Terry_B149d ago

Maybe in 2-3 years when there is a version that has characters I care for.

So far there is not one of the new characters I like..and my favourite 4 are not a part of it either. (Bison, Balrog, Sagat and Vega) + the whole hip hop style and the crappy music turned me totally off.

Looking forward a lot to Tekken 8.

Sano24149d ago

SF4 vanilla was loved by most and and not considered a misstep. It wasn't until they went revision crazy that people started turning on Capcom.

Terry_B149d ago

Don't remember the criticques it got for the big hands and feet, the sometimes weird looking faces, the lame boss (Seth) and that so many characters were shotos and yup..the many new versions. Just every SF got its haters no matter how good it was.

Nerdmaster149d ago

It was criticized for the first trailers having an interesting art style with those ink splashes, but the real game had none of that and people felt cheated. And Capcom decided to add some of those effects in the game later because of the backlash. But I don't remember any other big complaints about it.

EvertonFC149d ago

I grew out of fighting games, loved them as a kid but online you just get your ass kicked over and over leaving just the bare bones single player and also having no friends anymore who like fighting games either just makes me not want to buy or play them anymore.

CrimsonWing69149d ago

I dunno, I like Street Fighter 5 quite a bit. 🤷‍♂️

Shiro173149d ago

Sf6 is the best sf since sf4ae lol
