The Suffering Creator Would “Definitely” Return to the Series

Rely on Horror, CJ Melendez writes: "In our upcoming interview with Richard Rouse III, Director/Designer/Writer of Paranoid Production’s The Church in the Darkness, we learned a little bit more about the state of The Suffering franchise.

When asked if he thinks we’ll ever see the series again and who holds the rights to the series, Rouse told us that he suspects Warner Brothers does due to their acquisition of Midway’s assets in 2009."

Ohhh a new suffering game would be swet

Muzikguy3330d ago (Edited 3330d ago )

I played this game followed by Psi-ops and remember the time like it was yesterday lol. Both games were awesome and I'd welcome remasters of either one

MONOLITHICIDE3330d ago

I agree immensely. In the Same boat with you.

Razputin3330d ago (Edited 3330d ago )

At this point I'd love a rerelease on Steam or GoG, and them a sequel.

The first was a gem, while the sequel was great and better in terms of game play and graphics, it wasn't as captivating, still very few games pulled it off as well as The Suffering.

Would welcome a sequel.
Really amazing game

Morgue3330d ago

i still have both but the first is by far the best. Totally sleazy and the story was great, tons of action.

Yui_Suzumiya3330d ago

I missed out so would love ps2 remasters on ps4.

Morgue3330d ago

If you have a 360 you can pick up the first one fairly cheap and it's backwards compatible.

Der_Kommandant3330d ago

I would love a sequel or a reboot, loved that game.

quent3330d ago (Edited 3330d ago )

The 1st games atmosphere was great, it felt like a mix between a darker version of evil dead and the House on haunted hill.

Was also cool to have the option to switch between perspectives.

6th gen third-person shooters The Suffering and its sequel are set to be delisted by Warner Bros

GOG has announced that Warner Bros is set to remove The Suffering and its sequel from the digital storefront next month making the game inaccessible to players.

TheNamelessOne265d ago (Edited 265d ago )

Already own the originals (the first on PS2 and the second on xbox), as well as the GoG versions. It's dumb they're getting delisted, but it's not like they're hard to emulate either.

INMATEofARKHAM264d ago

Yeah, I don't understand the delistings. I don't see WBs taking the time to remaster them so any sales you get on GOG would be better than none.

P_Bomb265d ago

Got them both on disc, fortunately!

OtterX264d ago

Glad you! I don't want to see you suffering, my friend.

90sGamingWasBetter264d ago

I've got the first on for my PS2, never got around to playing the second.

Skate-AK264d ago

I have the both games but I can never get the first game to actually boot.

Venoxn4g264d ago

Both Suffering deserve a remake

INMATEofARKHAM264d ago

Maybe this is a sign...? I don't see a reason to delist them.

I remember the suffering and it was descent game. I always wanted to play Crimson but never got to it.

But honestly, I’ve never played a game that really scared me, like some movies from the past have.

Silly gameAr946d ago

I remember The Suffering 1 and 2. I haven't thought about those games in years. I still remember some parts of the level in the prison where a guy was sucked through a vent screaming. I don't know why that's stuck with me all of these years.

I'm saving RE VIII for when the PS VR2 comes out.

Such a shame that they never ported Fatal Frame II: Director's Cut to anything else. The added ending is by far my favourite.

darthv72976d ago

Call of Cthulhu and Cold Fear are both pretty good horror-esq games.

Orchard976d ago

The Thing was a great game back in the day. I would love a remaster or remake.

monkey602976d ago

The NPC Trust system was amazing for its time

KillBill975d ago

One of the very few games that I would actually like to see a remake and deserves a new current gen upgrade.

monkey602976d ago

That's such a good list of games 😍

autobotdan976d ago

Fatal Frame 1&2. Its a horrible shame those two original xbox games never got backwards compatible for series consoles. Horrible
