It's probably a mistake, the folks at GAME haven't quite grasped the concept of electronic mail, wouldn't be the first time they send incorrect emails out.

Game are a complete rip of if you tend to go the route of the High Street retail outlet looking for a game, with the demise of Blockbusters and Gamestation completely ruined by game you have little choice if you don't shop online.

Supermarkets are a option but unless its a AAA title like Cod other games are not always stocked on the day of release and sometimes not at all.

When Game first came onto the scene i was extremely impressed and used nobody else but Game,But they are extremely greedy and some of there trade in prices are a complete and utter joke,in fact you can actually go into any Game store and see second hand copies of games like only a couple a pound cheaper than a brand new game still in the wrapper.

And don't get me started about there trade in prices either,i only use Game when I'm desperate to off load games i don't play anymore or haven't turned out like i expected,I'm lazy and can not be bothered with listing them on Ebay and other online places.

With the likes of Amazon and Shopto my preferred choice and has been for about 5 years there is very little reason to use Game and i wish they had of gone bust to be honest.

Oh and when i did use there online service 50% of the time the game never arrived on time, something i have yet to experience once with Shopto.

ravinash3093d ago

The annoying thing is if Game had gone bust like they nearly did, someone else might have been able to pick up the pipboy edition.

Game know the only way their going to get any sales these days is to grab these limited editions.

MRCodey473093d ago (Edited 3093d ago )

Same old GAME, same old bullshit. Nothings changed from old owners to new.

It's being run exactly the same.

wheatley3093d ago

Exactly MRCodey47.

Why did they have to be bought out? Cause they wouldn't compete with supermarkets and online. Did they learn they needed to do that the second time round? No.

caseh3093d ago

"with the demise of Blockbusters and Gamestation completely ruined by game"

Game and Gamestation were the same company, acquired by Electronics Boutique back when more bits apparently meant better console. The pricing and marketing was just a clever way to create competition where there was none.

With Blockbuster gone and Game pricing their games way over what they should be retailed at, supermarkets have zero competition so no longer lower their prices to compete, because even at £44 they are still way cheaper than 99% of high street stores.

time2die3093d ago (Edited 3093d ago )

Gamestation were acquired by Game but Gamestation apparently traded as usual until the financial mess Game got themselves into .

Game basically killed of the small independent Game retailers dotted around the High Street as they just could not compete with the discount Game got for buying literally Thousands of Titles for there Thousands of stores all around the UK.

Vote with your feet and use online retailers, there are plenty of online Game retailers a lot better than game,i admit they don't always have the exclusivity for products like Game and the Xbox Elite Controller, but that was easily solved,i just bought it from the Microsoft Store instead.

wannabe gamer3093d ago

FYI Electronics Boutique is actually gamestop.

caseh3093d ago

@wannabe gamer

Hah indeed it would appear they are, I've not noticed that before.

Quite an incestuous relationship those lot have had really isn't it.

Anonagrog3093d ago (Edited 3093d ago )

"Gamestation were acquired by Game but Gamestation apparently traded as usual until the financial mess Game got themselves into."

I used to work at Gamestation a decade ago and left for uni around the time Blockbusters sold them to Game. I was back there for temp jobs during the holidays though, so got to see the change over time - they really didn't seem to operate as separate entities in the stores themselves, though legally I'm sure they did.

First Game's POS system seemed to work its way into the store, along with extended warranties, high margin add-ons, pressurised staff quotas, and drastic reduction in trade and cash offers for preowned stuff. After just a few years it was effectively another Game store in all but name. A few more years again and the town's Gamestation was gone leaving just the same original competitor Game store to rule the high-street (it still is today).

I've never understood how it was approved by the British monopolies commission. Didn't understand it then, and still don't now. What a shame.

Gamestation was part of the GAME Group, it had been for years.

EazyC3093d ago

Totally incompetent as usual. Can't even change delivery address on pre-orders, had to wait 2 months on a callback list after spending £10+ on premium rate helpline.

Phoenix763093d ago (Edited 3093d ago )

GAME are totally useless. Ordered PIPBOY through store in Crayford. Still not got stock in, so can't put money down in advance. Even been told they're not even sure if they are getting them in!!! I order in June and now this BS!!!

Hell they're not even doing a display for it!!!

jznrpg3093d ago

I rarely go to Gamestop anymore . They treat there employees poorly, I had a friend who was a manager for years and they were so shitty to him he just walked out one day . He has a wife and children and for him to do that shows just how hard they were on him. On top of that the prices they buy games at are ridiculous compared to what they sell it at. I rarely order limited editions of games that I can not order somewhere else like vita jrpgs or something but it my last resort.
O.T I have preordered games before where my collectors were cancelled or showed up 2 weeks later from Gamestop. I am assuming GAME is also Gamestop in U.S. Usually practices in a company start at the top and the crap rolls downhill so I am certain it is the same all over the world.

Fallout 4's 'next gen' update is over 14 gigs, breaks modded saves, & doesn't change much at all

We were expecting problems with mod support, but there are a lot of other issues.

isarai9h ago

Wow what the actual hell 🤣🤣🤣

just_looken9h ago

This is why you get the GOG version on gog you can select the version of the game to download.

On pc fallout 4 fallout new vegas and skyrim are all broken on steam because they all got the same "next gen" update.

Skyrim dec 2023
https://www.pcgamer.com/sky...

Can not find new vegas but anyone that modded it knows the script extender there was also broken

Valkyrye7h ago

Not accidental, they want modders to stop modding their older games to force them to mod Shitfield.

just_looken5h ago

There doing the same on starfield with a mods store and blocking mods

There goal is like blizzard and what they did with fallout 76 you make mods they can sell and you become a slave.

On skyrim they have "trusted" mod devs now basically a badge that lets your mod on the store you get a crumb of the sale when someone buys it.

Inverno4h ago

lol to the disagrees, the last Skyrim update broke mods too. They've been trying to kill mods to monetize them in creation club for years, it's not a stretch that they purposely put out patches just to break free mods.

porkChop2h ago

The disagrees are from people who have common sense. They aren't trying to kill mods. Most mods for any game will break with a new update because they rely on files/code that have been changed. This isn't new. Even with Bethesda this would happen way before the creation club. Mod support is literally one of the things that got Bethesda to where they are, and they're one of the only devs that releases comprehensive mod tools for each of their games.

Chocoburger3h ago

Over 14 GBs and doesn't change much at all? What? Taking up that much drive space for a pathetic 'remastering' is shameful.

Par for Bethesda.

Aussiesummer2h ago

It's not a remaster, it's a next gen update.

badz1492h ago

LOL people are actually expecting massive improvements or something? From Bethesda?? the same people who released Skyrim multiple times and the all look like shit? THAT Bethesda? are people for real?

Profchaos1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

The ps5 version doesn't change a ton but from my small playtime it's enough to make me want to replay it just to have it running at 60.

A side note to this my PS4 version no longer boots after it's "update" so I guess that's what it feels like to own a Bethesda game on PC

Bethesda Looking Into PlayStation Plus Subscribers Not Being Able to Upgrade Fallout 4

Bethesda Customer Support Manager confirmed they're looking into Fallout 4 not being offered to those who redeemed via PlayStation Plus for free.

Why would anyone downvote this? Don't be silly. This is great news. Thanks for sharing, darthv72.

MWeaver5898h ago

I think it's because the main question for many was whether or not the PlayStation Plus Collection version would support the upgrade. To me it seems obvious the PlayStation Plus Extra version would, though it is nice to see confirmation it will.

That said, Bethesda highlighting the PlayStation Plus Extra version low-key confirms they do not plan on upgrading the other version given to players. Naturally some people are pissed, as even the in-game phrasing says "free for all players."

VenomUK6h ago

@MWeaver589 Exactly this point, it was advertised as free for everyone.

VincentVanBro6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

It’s just a lame solution to the problem, even if it is a solution. The comment shouldn’t be downvoted though.

Christopher5h ago

I mean, it's at least something. It's 'good' news compared to the alternative. Not darth's fault even.

Also, I highly believe this will get fixed. PR nightmare if they don't since the PS store doesn't differentiate/have different text for those with or without the PS+/PS Collection version.

Even though I claimed the PS Plus version, I still have my physical GOTY PS4 edition and was able to get my PS5 upgrade a little earlier today. Physical media FTW lol. Hopefully it won't be too long before the PS Plus owners also get to upgrade their copies.

JackBNimble6h ago

My digital version works just fine , what's your point?

raWfodog6h ago

My point is that even though I claimed the digital version via my PS+ Essential sub, I was still able to upgrade to the PS5 version using my PS4 GOTY physical version that I bought years ago. Otherwise I would have had to wait for the fix to be released, however long that will take. Isn’t that what the article was about?

JackBNimble1h ago(Edited 58m ago)

No, you claimed an upgrade that everyone with the physical or digital license can other then ps+ extra .
And what you hold is nothing more then a physical license.

And the article is talking about people with ps+extra who didn't own the game previously to it going on ps+ .

I bought the game years ago to ... digitally, my whole point was to your statement " physical media Ftw" . So what does physical have to do with anything?

blacktiger4h ago

I expect this and also no releasing on next ps console. Pretty simple. Please don't be suprise
