Forbes: Tomorrow marks the launch of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, Hideo Kojima’s latest masterpiece, at least judging by its early review scores. The game has amassed a close-to-flawless 95 on Metacritic, drawing perfect 10s from over a half dozen outlets, with more likely to come as the game is launched.
I previously wrote about how despite being well-received, I had trouble believing that in terms of pure sales, Metal Gear Solid 5 would be able to top Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Fallout 4 this year. But with that said, I’m more than convinced that The Phantom Pain is the most significant release of the fall for a few reasons.
Whether it's showcasing damage realistically or simulating fractures and conditions, these games are worth checking out.
The Metal Gear series has sold 60.2 million copies, as of September 2023.
...and yet, they couldn't give more respect and effort into the collection.
What a terrible company.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is another rollercoaster of a game in the Metal Gear Solid series. Here's what to expect and why you need to experience it.
Amazing how bad this game looks already. We keep acting like this gen doesn't feel like an update but I think we're starting to see it.
The game started really strong in that hospital, but after a couple of hours I wondered if it was even an mgs game I was playing.
I think what I like the most about MGS5's situation is that is proves that the franchise is not stuck in the past and that it can move out of its comfort zone (even though it very well may be the last MGS).
The new open-world approach is an immense success, and the game impresses not only with its quantity of content, but also with its quality. Seriously the amount of stuff you can do in this game is overwhelming, and it all feels extremely polished
At least it ended in a high note. The game us great!
always come up with new things which is not only a little, but some might overhaul the whole things for innovation is one of things that keep a franchise fresh
(not just only added to exisiting things or just improved stuff already there of course)
kojima always tackled new stuff for each metal gear and he always had a vision for it
and its also one of reason franchise like final fantasy doesnt turn out be call of duty or assasins creed...
i think it also show different between company that always care for profit vs company that always want to entertain their fans/players
