interesting. Curious to see if this changes after E3.

Letthewookiewin3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

Ya right now I think MS has a nice holiday but with E3, Gamescom, TGS and PS Experience there could be some surprises for all consoles. Also hopefully we will get some dates on Tomorrow People, No Mans Sky, Rime, Wild, and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture to name a few.

Concertoine3276d ago

Theres no point in even making this article a month before e3.

bleedsoe9mm3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

if sony had any AAA games for fall they'd be at gamescom

aceitman3276d ago

So ur logic means they will not have AAA games at e3 for fall. Ur comment makes no sense .

Brotard3276d ago

I believe Sony isn't presenting at gamescom this year

Transistor3276d ago

They are at Gamescom, they don't have a conference.

bleedsoe9mm3276d ago

@aceitman if they had anything big for fall they were heavily invested in hyping they'd package it with a couple of european indies , throw in some multiplats and do a gamescom presser . since they don't no point wasting a bunch of money for next years + games . i didn't say they won't have anything at E3 but not AAA for fall . i'm betting we see a new quantic dream game at the paris show .

mkis0073276d ago

So you think that a month delay of their conference means no new titles? Odd logic there...

Deadlead3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

I'm pro Sony but if nothing changes between now and the hollidays MS easily has the better lineup. But E3 is right around the corner, and multiplats like MGSV, Batman, the Witcher, and the Division all look to be great games.

OB1Biker3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

This is supposedly a playstation focused site, what s the point of doing a VS with other consoles? Id expect it more from GI, Eurogamer or IGN for example..
I dont know for others but as I own a PS4 Im not that much interested to know whats on other platforms for 'the holiday season' (not sure why people care that much about a particular time of the year tbh)

I mean if Im interested in comparisons id check out multiplaform sites

Rookie_Monster3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

As of right now, xb1 owns the holidays this fall with comfirmed holiday exclusives in Halo 5, Forza 6, Tomb Raider, Fable Legends and most likely also including Gears HD and Killer Instinct Season 3. That is all before E3. UNCHARTED 4 and Zelda delays really is a big blow to the respective competition. But hopefully we get some more surprises at E3 for all 3 systems.

voodoochild3463276d ago

E3 is going to determine whether I get an xbone this holiday. If they do gears right with improved matchmaking and dedicated servers and also have the game balance right between rifles and gnashers, I'll get one. But only if they give us the Gears we deserve...

wegetsignalx3268d ago

PS4 2015 retail (none of these are on X1): Bloodborne, Toukiden: Kiwami, The Order: 1886, MLB 15: The Show, Persona 5, Tearaway Unfolded, Until Dawn, Dragon Quest Heroes, God of War III Remastered, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3, J-STARS Victory VS+, Onechanbara Z2: Chaos, Ultra Street Fighter 4, Godzilla, Deception IV, Disgaea 5, Journey, Risen 3, Saint Seiya: Soldier's Soul, Legend of Kai: Anniversary Edition, Darksiders 2: Definitive Edition

And more digital exclusives like Helldivers, Alienation, Kill Strain, The Tomorrow Children, What Remains of Edith Finch, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, Drawn to Death, Deep Down, etc.

Looks like a good year for PS4 so far, with more to be announced soon.

lifeisgamesok3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

Xbox One wins this holiday hands down

1st person shooter genre: Halo 5
3rd person action/adventure: Rise of the Tomb Raider
Racing: Forza 6
RPG: Fable Legends

And a Gears of War game

xHeavYx3276d ago

Lol, whatever helps you sleep at night.
I'll never understand MS' trend of having no "big" games launching except on holidays.

EvilWay3276d ago

As I agree with you they need to release some games in other months except fall but I don't see how you can say MS doesn't destroy the competition for this holiday? You must be delusional

Transistor3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

@ Evil way

Everyone on the internet said the same thing about March 2014, they were wrong, very wrong.

Also the PS4 sold more worldwide than the Xbox One last holiday when Microsoft dropped the price and people said the PS4 has no games.

The PS4 will sell more this holiday as well, nothing suggests otherwise.

Rookie_Monster3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

Transistor, what does sales and PS4 selling more have to do about the topic at hand:
Versus – PS4 vs. Xbox One vs. Wii U Known Holiday Releases

LOL, some of you known xbox haters are dodging the topic at hand and bring in sales...am I surprise? Heck no as that meant you guys have no counter argument to the topic and is using other topics to try to switch the tone of the conversation to your favor. Too predictable.LOL

N4g_null3276d ago

Sony has the best line up period. They only need one game and it's called.....

Sales

No one bests that. That's the best game running for 2 years. Why talk about anything else.

The Xbox is looking good though. It's sad I may have to get one before a ps4.

I can't take people like you seriously, I really can't! We're getting to the middle of May and you still have to wait till the end of October to play a good exclusive...
What's the fun in that? Does your fanboyism keeps you happy for 10 months of nothing?
There's no way I would ever make an Xbox as my only console, no way.

PraxxtorCruel3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

There's no way I'd make the PS4 my only console either. PS4 for the first 6 months as showcased by the great early bird exclusives this year and then the XB1 for the last 6 months with it's great end of year line up.

You see. All gamers can be happy!

nicksetzer13276d ago

Ori, screamride, state of decay, plenty of indies weekly and all the third party stuff is "nothing?" I din't get how ignoring 3 first party games in the first half is the same as nothing being released.

t-hall7853276d ago

Luckily FH2, Titanfall(yes titanfall), killer instinct, EA Access, ori, and 3rd parties will keep me busy till then. Those games have some longevity. Who says all we play is exclusives?

Dario_DC3275d ago

@PraxxtorCruel Last 6 months?? You know that from half of October to the end of the year is 2 and half months right?? Be happy that 3rd party existd buddy.

@nicksetzer1 yeah games that no one really cares and that are on pc too. Why not Fruit Ninja Kinect 2 or Slice Zombies? I thought Xbox owners didn't count Indies as real games? Yeah yeah I know you're one of those that does right, right?? When fits your agenda you all do...

@t-hall785 Of course you do play those. Like you have other option than replaying older games and buy 3rd party games for 10 months.

ThinkThink3276d ago

You're saying Halo 5, Forza 6 and Tomb Raider may be duds? empty eggs.. not likely but hey, anything is possible.

mkis0073276d ago

Think

Its more likely that E3 will have huge announcements and everyone who keeps saying sony has no games for holdays will have to eat crow. I mean would you be willing to bet that sony is not going to announce multiple ps4 exclusives at E3? With only Until Dawn announced I would never take that bet in a million years.

Utalkin2me3276d ago

@lifeisgamesok

"Xbox One wins this holiday hands down"

Then looses the rest of the year. Holidays is still 6 months away.

BTW, What new exclusives have you been playing in 2015?

captainexplosion3276d ago

WTF. All he said is XB1 will have more games this holiday, which is what the article is about. And he is right. Don't be a blinded fanboy. I'm a bigger PS guy but I can admit that this holiday season XB1 will have bigger games.

Halo2ODST23276d ago

Although Halo 5 is being made by ..343.. , who released mcc broken & took 4 months to fix, also Halo 4 didn't feel like a halo game.

MysticStrummer3276d ago

PS4 wins this year hands down, just like last year.

rainslacker3276d ago

Now if MS could manage to get some of those 3rd party exclusives that Sony gets by default because MS doesn't care about the Japanese market, then maybe they'd have more new games releasing this holiday than the PS4 does.

I mean, if we're going to talk exclusives, why not include all the 3rd party ones? For instance, did you know Disgaea is probably going to drive more RPG fans than a FTP Fable legends games which could barely be called an RPG. I know it may seem to compare the two, but I see both as very grindy representative games, but at least Disgaea will be fun and have a story.

Since you like making lists, why not go make one comparing all exclusives for the systems.

I also doubt a GeOW game will come this holiday. At most a remake of the first game, which has been hinted at, but I wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't show up early next year since MS will rely on Halo this holiday and they won't want to seem like they don't release games except during the holidays.

captainexplosion3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

If Microsoft could manage to get 3rd party exclusives like Sony gets? The PS4 has had the fewest third party exclusives. XB1 has had Titanfall, Garden Warfare (timed), Sunset Overdrive, dead rising 3, Ryse, Ori, Tomb Raider, etc.

rainslacker3276d ago

I think you should really go look at the 3rd party exclusives which have come, and are coming to the PS4 up to now and for the rest of the year.

MS promotes those 3rd party exclusives more than Sony does, but Sony most certainly gets a ton more of them.

They get this by default because they actually have a presence in Japan, and Japanese developers are making and localizing games for it to a much bigger extent than they are for the Xbox.

I think going forward, the 3rd party exclusives are going to dry up for MS unless they completely fund a game, like they did with SO or DR3. It's fine if they want to do that of course, but there is only so much they could do and they still won't get as many 3rd party exclusives.

Utalkin2me3275d ago

@captainexplosion

That was far from a fanboy comment. I strictly replied to his comment. Nobody said Xbox1 didn't have a nice lineup for holidays. The fact of the matter is as i already stated. It's 6 months away and what are you playing now and until then?

wegetsignalx3268d ago

PS4 has a huge number of games launching in 2015, plenty of them are highly rated on metacritic already.

Trying to limit the focus to only holiday 2015 is deceptive.

Greatness is already here for PS4 in 2015, with many more games to come. Just check listwar or metacritic.

PS4 Metacritic 2015 (none of these are on X1): Bloodborne 92, Bastion 89, OlliOlli2 85, Broken Age 84, Axiom Verge 84, Resogun: Defenders 85, Starwhal 81, Jamestown+ 83, Helldivers 81, MLB 15: The Show 80, Grim Fandango Remastered 80, Toukiden: Kiwami 76, Lost Orbit 78, Tropico 5 77, Metal Slug 3 77, Apotheon 77, Teslagrad 77, Hotline Miami 2 76, Minutes 76, Titan Souls 75, Super Stardust Ultra 74, Tower of Guns 70, Paperbound 69, The Order: 1886 65

Transistor3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

Why not write about what's coming this summer? Write this article after E3, then you'll have a better idea of what to expect from all 3.

dcbronco3276d ago

I'm not sure why anyone needs to wait for E3. This is a done deal. Microsoft already has three AAA titles set. And they may add a couple more for the rest of the year. Does anyone really believe Sony or Nintendo have four or five AAA titles to surprise us with this year. Sony shot their load already. And it's not like Microsoft can't announce additional things. I doubt they would add more than Gears to the game lineup. But DX12 is finished now, Microsoft did announce that it is only fine-tuning from here out. They also showed video of a Chinese title that was upgraded from DX11 to DX12 in six weeks with just two people. Does anyone not realize that all of Microsoft's holiday games will be fully DX12 compliant. Does anyone believe the API maker, trying it's best to gain market share for their console, trying to prove their API will not use the busiest time for the games industry to launch a full on assault with so many things coming together at once.

E3 will be the place they launch Gears and show what DX12 does on PC. That is why PC will be there this year. Gamescom is where they announce Xbox One is fully DX12 compatible.

September on will be the time for Xbox One. Fable, Forza, Crackdown, Gears, Tomb Raider and then Halo. Along with third party games this will be one of the strongest lineups in gaming history.

Transistor3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

Because I know for a fact Sony has other unannounced stuff for the holidays.

That's why.

I agree that Xbox One has a solid lineup this holiday though. I think Xbox fans are jumping to conclusions of Xbox have this holiday locked down, don't get ahead of yourselves is all I'm saying.

ger23963276d ago

Have you forgot about star wars battle front, and call of duty black ops 3? Those two titles alone will trump xbox exclusives. That's not even including what playstation and Nintendo will have this holiday.

Dario_DC3276d ago

Yes MS has a good line up if you're not tired of the same games over and over...
You better love that Halo and Forza cos they're anual baby! People bash Nintendo for milking their franchises but damn MS has them beat now!
Besides Tomb Raider that's a temporary exclusive, another bought "exclusive" from MS, none of the others interest me specially after Fable 2 and 3 being utter crap.
With BattleFront coming in the end of the year I won't be looking for any other FPS.

dcbronco3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

Transistor, I started writing a response about how you're kidding yourself. But I thought about it awhile and came up with a list of potential surprise announcements.

Relaunch SOCOM and Resistance. PS4 GT. The Last Guardian. The Getaway. They would need all five of them. And that would mean Uncharted and new IP for 2016. But is there a chance this will really happen? Probably not.

The Getaway is probably dead. So is Resistance. And SOCOM, plus that would be competing with The Division and I don't think it wins that. The Last Guardian never even lived. And if it did bird-dog things die sometimes too. That leaves you with Gran Turismo. Which would do well. New IP would probably get smothered under all of the heavy hitters launching this fall.

Gamers often forget the big picture. Sony is doing better but not great. They won't force new IP. And they won't push any games that aren't almost guaranteed to recoup the money spent to make them. No more room for that four of ten nonsense. So GT and Last Guardian if it really ever existed. Actually maybe Deep Down if they've figured out how to make money on that.

But there will be nothing to rival what Microsoft is doing. You just have to live with that. Sony can't afford to launch five or six AAA titles and watch them be cannibalized.

Ger seems like an appropriate name given your reply. You do know those titles you named are also on Xbox One? Anything they bring to playstation they bring to Xbox. Plus the agree for such an obviously weak argument lets me know you have at least two accounts.

Okay Dario. They don't interest you. Sales say they interest millions of others. Funny you complain about milking and instead push the third version of another game from a franchise that will be releasing a new movie every year from this till 2023? ? Well played sir.

jb2273276d ago

Ok, so Crackdown isn't happening this year, that much is pretty much a fact. Gears is a rumor of a single remaster & there are just as many rumors of an Uncharted collection so they pretty much cancel each other out if we are talking genre to genre, title for title. That brings your list back down to 4, one of which being Tomb Raider, a game we've seen literally none of in action & now that Uncharted has been delayed, could easily be delayed as well in order to compete w/ the game the timed exclusive was originally purchased to compete w/. You allow for all of these extra games MS will be announcing at E3 but you don't account for the many studios Sony has on deck that have all been working on content & staying silent. Feasible announcements could come from 2 teams in Guerrilla, SSM, Media Molecule, Quantic Dream & plenty of others. Games that have been on deck & in production like The Last Guardian could finally crop up, literally anything could happen at E3 based off of the amount of first party studios Sony has, the difference being that unless MS buy 3rd party exclusives, almost all of their studios are accounted for. Rare will be announcing its new title but they haven't been working on it for long so that'd most likely be a 2016 title.

At the end of the day MS definitely has a fuller AAA exclusive lineup at this point, but that could EASILY change come E3 regardless of your opinion. Either way I guarantee that by the end of the year, the PS4 will be the system w/ the most Game of the Year contenders & its exclusives will hold the highest Metacritic scores and their software sales will be significantly higher than Microsoft's, so the cut & dry numbers you are mentioning aren't as cut & dry when you think about it for a bit. Not a chance in hell for Halo or Fable to beat a game like Bloodborne in critic & user reviews, & Tomb Raider looks potentially like more of a 1.5 title than a fully fledged sequel judging by the quick turnaround & the cross platform development (not buying the whole line that the games are being developed specifically for each console from the ground up, it's a port plain & simple and that'll be fairly obvious by the time it rolls around.) If a quantity of big budget titles are all you care about then sure, MS is sitting pretty at this point, but if you just want to play unique & well made, high scoring games of all types & budgets, there is no competition whatsoever. While you are playing the same map in Halo for the 37th time, PS4 owners will still be traveling to brand new never seen before planets & galaxies in No Man's Sky.

rainslacker3276d ago

Sony has 4-5 exclusive titles releasing in the next two months alone. They're all 3rd party, but they are AA-AAA exclusives. The last 4 months, they have a lot more exclusives releasing on their system, and likely the better running versions of multi-plats for the holidays. For the most part, if people are fans of the first party games you're listing, they would likely have the system already, so it's good for them, but no reason to wait to buy the system otherwise. The general game buying public doesn't care if something is 1st party or not.

People are making too big a deal over the power of the holiday line up. When the holiday comes, people that don't own a system, don't care if a game is releasing during the holiday or not. It'll be a new game for them either way even if it released earlier in the year, and Sony's shelves at GameStop are filling up a lot faster than MS shelves are.

So Sony isn't doing any new IP's? Forgive me, but didn't they just release 2 new AAA highly polished IP's in the last 3 months? Then there was Knack at launch. What AAA IP has MS released since launch? Ryse...a retrofitted 360 Kinect game...that's it. Quantum Break is about the only thing new IP from them that is worth being excited for.

They only took on Titanfall when they saw all the hype surrounding it. You're entire list doesn't have a single new IP in it...it's the same rehashed IP's that they've always relied on, Crackdown, and a game they paid off to compete against a big Sony seller...which is itself a pretty recognizable old IP.

So what exactly does Sony have to compete with in this regard?

dcbronco3275d ago

Rainslacker, really?

Sony released one AAA and a video. I get sick of hearing people talking about Microsoft rehashing games by people playing LBP 3, or GT7 or Killzone Infinity. Microsoft doesn't do anything any different from what everyone else is doing from the franchise standpoint. These are corporations and business 101 says plainly to give the people what they want.

That aside Phil Spencer has said several times in several ways that exclusives are the key to him. Supporting in-house studios and growing within. I believe he will do that even though personally I don't think it's a big deal. For all of the exclusives new IP talk CoD still sells 30 million copies every year. Nobody wanted a Wii U until they started bringing new versions of the old franchises. People just like to talk. They rarely follow it up.

Sony has a bunch of third party exclusives, so what. I understand it's business. Developers see a larger install and they base a decision on it. Sometimes it's based on install in a specific region like Japan. But it would be the exact opposite if the install base was reversed. Again, it's business.

Only four out of ten Sony exclusives made money last generation. Sony went from being valued at 85 billion to less than 20 during that time period. And yes, gaming lost money too. The exclusives thing is for sheep. Many a company no longer exist because they believed the hype. To go exclusive this generation is for fool developers unless they were paid or their game appeals to a specific area. Any developer stupid enough to not get paid for exclusivity will eventually join the ranks of the no longer in business.

It's early with four or five years left before new machines. But this fight is far from settled.

wegetsignalx3268d ago

Sony is investing more into the Playstation division, WWS, and PSN, not less. They are not getting lazy. This was made clear in their recent FY report. The 1st party support is already strong with more games on the way.

The Playstation division is in a net profit and posting quarterly profits, and Sony is forecasting an operating profit next FY. Stop spreading FUD about Sony's finances.

PS4 has many exclusive games already, and more upcoming. Listwar easily proves this.

It's fine if you like Xbox exclusives like Gears of War, but don't pretend PS4 exclusives don't exist because you don't like them.
