PS Plus: Free Games for April 2015

Brace yourselves, people! We have another great lineup of games coming to PlayStation Plus this month. With shooters, puzzle games, platformers, and more, we have a little something for everyone this April.

To start things off, allow us to present Tower of Guns on PS4 and PS3. It’s about a tower filled with guns. And so much more! Shooter fans, prepare for an adrenaline-pounding challenge through a randomized tower with enemies, bosses, power-ups, and little robots that just want to hug you. Also on PS4, explore the Alaskan wilderness with Never Alone, a beautiful puzzle game with an adorable pet fox. Guide a native Alaskan girl through harsh environments in a touching effort to save her village.

For Plus members gaming on PS3, look out for Dishonored, the critically acclaimed stealth game that celebrates player choice above all else.

Before I got PS+ I thought I'd have that attitude and buy fewer games in general. As it has turned out I still buy what I want when I want it. Even doing that it only took 3 or 4 months for me to feel like my membership fee had paid for itself with free games and discounts. I don't worry about a game that's less than $20 going on sale or eventually being free. If I did I'd probably need to change hobbies.

I like supporting devs, so I'll buy games that I might find interesting. If they show up on psplus, well, that's just a risk I'm willing to take.

Guys when you click download, you're supporting the devs regardless. Sony doesn't force them to sell the game for free. They get a cut. Not as much as the original price of the game, but nonetheless a lot of people wouldn't have purchased the game otherwise. So it ends up in more hands. Even if you don't like the game, click download to support your indies.

I have WAYY too many games to play to consider buying anything at full price(which is why I love Gamefly for AAA), I'd first consider supporting myself and my other vices/hobbies than the developers, there is too many games out there I would enjoy and not enough time to play them. I wait for the flash sales and PS+, that is plenty for me, because I am a cheap gamer.

As for those complaining about buying indies, I feel bad for you. If you "waste" $5-$20 on a game and feel like it's the end of the world, then you need to get your priorities straight. If I like a game I'll buy it and love it (not to be mistaken with 'make love to it'). Developers need to make money off their games or they won't be able to make more. Why people need to be so cheap is disheartening. All the talk of things that will ruin the industry I'm surprised that's never brought up. Don't get me wrong, I'm not buying a lot of indies either. That's because I have plenty of games as it is and Plus just keeps giving me more. I don't play most of them. On the occasion I may buy a few, I sidle won't be complaining when they're "free" later on. If that's the case don't buy AAA games either. Let's all just wait until they're on Plus.

I'm sorry I just don't understand why people get so worked up over "wasting" a few dollars. I'd guarantee you waste a lot more than that, just picking on video games

It definitely caught my eye when it came out, but I didnt buy it as I had too much else to play at the time. I will get it for sure now.

Its good we get these game we might not otherwise try. If it wasnt for PS+ I wouldnt have played Counterspy.

Love the hell out of that game, from the stylized graphics, the atmosphere, gameplay is great and even the music was awesome. Glad I stumbled onto it.

Im sure its because they are too stupid to figure out that PS4 and Xbox One don't have massive game libraries so they aren't going to give away retail AAA games for awhile...

I don't like every game I get from PS+, but if I take just the free games that I do like and add up the retail values, it exceeds the cost of my PS+ subscription.

So I can't complain.

I've wanted to play and heard good things about Never Alone. Some months are better than others, but I'm not really sure what you expect. Are you expecting newer AAA games every month? Because you aren't going to get it. You have to pay for online access now, and part of that os getting six free games every month, I'd call it a pretty good deal. Whether or not you can take advantage of all six is your own problem, but bitching about the free games you're getting is an interesting approach.

No but one of them would be nice... I've had PS4 since launch and how many big games have there been, basically none! Don't get me wrong some of those smaller games are great like Valiant hearts but compared to PS3, PS+ has been very disappointing. It was understandable when the machine was under a year old but now it's about 16 months and there are plenty of games.

PS3 got Sherlock Holmes free this month but PS4 didn't.. why? Same with Thief last month. Indies are cool but there has been like 200 of them so more variety please.

Oh please.. I just listed two games that became available for PS3 in the last two months but didn't on the PS4 even though they're available for it too. There are plenty of games older than some of the indie games we've gotten so that argument is simply invalid.

That's not what I said. Quality and variety are two different things. Do you really think that there has been enough of it with the PS4? Million side scrollers will become boring after a while even if they're quality.

Dissapointing compared to what? GWG lol, you're hopeless if you believe that. Before plus came along MS was happy to take your $50 annually without any free games. If you're comparing it to the PS3's offerings itd do you good to remember that console sits on an 8+ year gaming catalogue. Still PS4 plus has provided free games since launch, and back to comparisons the competing current gen xbone has been simply pitiful in quantity and quality for GWG. And no I'm not gonna make a huge list, Google it, it's plain as day which service is superior. So dissapointing compared to what? Maybe you do have high standards, nothing wrong with that. But your flat dismissal of plus is either fanboyism or you're just another entitled moron.

The intent of my post wasn't to attack, though it seems that's all that came across unfortunatly. Plus brought us the free game paradigm and it's been so successful that MS had to implement their own matching service. So my question was plus is dissapointing compared to what? If GWG is your response than all I can do is laugh, it's best games just came out in Rayman and child of light. Otherwise people are just snobby man. 24+ games a year for $50 on just one console, if that dissapoints you than yeah... You're an entitled moron.

Then don't download them. There are a lot of ppl who are satisfied with what ps plus has given including myself. Isaac and rogue alone made up for the price of ps plus. Tho I admit last month was the slowest FOR ME.

I'm happy with this months selection. Especially for vita. My first kz game :D

Btw if you're unsatisfied with it, then use ps plus for what it was designed for: multiplayer (anyone who wants to bring up DDOS with me, take that commment and shove it up your arse. I don't care what you have to say about DDOS. Disagree and move on champ)

Sony could be "giving" out PS4 games like: Killzone, Assassin's Creed IV, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Tomb Raider, Knack, Rayman Legends, Thief, etc. Any of these games have been released more then a year ago.

It's not just up to Sony to decide what games are in the IGC but the developers decision too. its just still kind of early to be giving out AAA games that are still selling. Maybe knack or Killzone will come down the line. And some indi games are much better than AAA games. Sometimes people even complain when they give a AAA game lets say like if Watch Dogs was on the IGC people would say it isn't even that good or we need something better.

I imagine for the big publishers it's more about exposure than profit. But for the smaller inde devs it's probably nice to get a big check all at once vs unpredictable varying monthly sales numbers.

I really don't play that much indie games and most of them are on pc too.. it is great offer if you have all PS platforms but since I only have the ps4 I'm starting to get tired of all what they offer for ps4 are indie games... I know it has only been two years since it came out...
I like their discounts more than what they offer of free games for plus.. So I really hope to see more good discount than another indie game...

KZ:Mercenary is one remake I'd be 100% supportive of, for PS4....They really should do that, as well as a PS4/Vita, simultaneously developed SEQUEL to Mercenary....Imagine how NICE looking a PS4 version of Mercs would look.. Man, Sony need to get it happening...'
I can't see why, Sony would NOT have there development teams do simultaneous co-developments of PS4 & Vita games, together... If they had of done something like this, from the VERY start.... Vita's would have flown off shelves...

I mean, the potential of the Vita is endless, IF Sony would start to PONY up some borrowed green, for publishers like Activision & EA, to do the same simultaneous development process...These guys are already doing this for PS3/PS4/360/XBone....so what gives? It really wouldn't be too far of a stretch for these development teams, to throw a Vita version in the pile....as, if I'm not mistaken, the last gen console & Vita are not too different in many areas, to develop for..& Vita is not too far behind, at all, in capabilities to those last gen machines.. I'm not 100% sure, about exactly how easier or hard it is, to move your blockbuster 1000th sequel game, to the Vita, as I'm not a developers ass, really.. BUT, having already seen the potential & many of the vast array of awesome Vita titles already out there, I cannot imagine it would be a far stretch, to hammer out some crossover titles...& the monetary rewards is untapped potential.

Sony have failed to even attempt to try to sell the Vita to consumers YET AT ALL. They have ignored a HUUUUUGE market, & let Nintendo b1tchslap & pimpslap them around, with bloody MORE MARIO... I mean, comon Sony.....Stop axing awesome development teams such as the Wipeout developers (London Studios, me thinks), Zipper, half the SSM teams, Cambridge Studios, Team Soho, & the list just goes ON, & ON, of GREAT developers that Sony have either completely dispatched, OR, WORSE, broken apart, disbanded, & sewn back together MULTIPLE triple AAA capable developers, & wasted them on Singstar content, & bloody HOME????/WTF????
Sony need to get it together for Vita, & the dedicated owners sakes.... give me a break. How many Mario games does the 3DS have in its library? Face it, it's games like Monster Hunter, Smash Brothers, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, etc that are making the Vita its bitch. These are the games that the Vita is lacking. True, blockbuster games that actually sell. Nobody is crying for anther call of Duty or Battlefield so it can move a few hundred thousand copies.

Ultimately devs only want to spend their time on systems that they know their games are going to sell on. The Vita has such a split audience that it's hard to say what sort of game would be an instant million+ seller.

As for the remake idea, No. I would rather the studio focuses on a NEW Killzone game. There is too much of a disturbing trend lately about devs taking the easy road and simply remastering games for this new gen of machines.

Both PS4 games look like decent, FPS and Platformer. Dishonored is bound to please some., though not me, and another Platformer. Seeing a trend...Killzone is great if you didn't get it on sale for $5 way back (I didn't because I only had a 4 GB).

Then there's that trashy looking Monster Bag, can't tell the genre. Looks like Platformer/Action/Puzzle/Uniqu e.

So half are shooters and half are basically Platformers. Can we get some variety or what? At least it isn't Sports...

Decent month...5/10 for me, probably 8/10 for many. True haters of Shooters will have a horrible month...RPG needs to be considered.
