Earthlight to Push Kinect 2 to its Limits: Most Realistic Depiction of International Space Station

Earlier today Earthlight was announced which will see players have the opportunity to travel to the International Space Station via the Occulus Rift and Kinect 2 powered by Kinect 4 Unreal Engine. Below are the recently released images in .JPG format. We do have them in .PNG but holy hell are the files quite large. For fans who have always wanted to travel into outer space here is your chance. Earthlight will be at the Opaque Multimedia booth at this years GDC with a public release said to soon follow. I am yet to actually try out the Occulus Rift so I’m really keen to see how great of an experience this is.

Pushing the Kinect 2 to its limits? I have not used it since I bought my X1. Goes to show how far into obscurity the device has gone.

I use mine in dragon age to command npc, and I use it to launch and search apps. Also to turn X1 off and at times on.

This game will be at gdc. Using unreal4 so can be dx12 compatible. Can't wait to see what DX12 can do on X1. The anticipation is overbearing. I expect big things to become possible with games built for dx12. Being able to do many more things at once graphically can lead to some nice enhancements.

Obscurity?? Why? because you do not use yours??

Automatic793365d ago

Funny I use my Kinect everyday.

RocknRolla3365d ago

I honestly haven't used it for anything. I don't even have it plugged in. Different opinions.

ShowanW3365d ago (Edited 3365d ago )

I'll give you $75 for it (If you live in the USofA)...

Your not using it, so you may as well make a few bucks off of it.

Are you a tinfoil hatter concerned about being spied on or something?

The voice commands, biometric login, and the ability for it to work as a universal remote to turn on/off your entire entertainment system EASILY warrant plugging the darn thing in if you have it.

Seriously. There is no reasonable justification for not plugging the Kinect in if you own one.

obener3365d ago

i tried to but not enough space :(

RocknRolla3364d ago

I come home press the X1 controller xbox logo and console turns on. Then I press one button and I'm logged in. It's faster than the biometric login which whilst good isn't necessary to my enjoyment.

Also I've got HDMI Device link I turn the X1 or PS4 on and my tv turns on. I turn it off tv turns off. Voice commands? No use for them. My tv generates mire than enough sound for my room yo not need any other entertainment systems.

After seeing this I'm quite keen to test out the Oculus Rift. I'm yet to get my hands on one.

That's fine. GT7 would overshadow it anyway at it has open wheel and regular cars.

Should have been spending their time updating Squadrons with better resolution, frame rate, haptics, etc as there isn't a game like that on PS VR 2 yet.

But it's EA. They don't think.

Babadook7366d ago

I agree. It would sell better on PSVR2 right now.

Knushwood Butt367d ago (Edited 367d ago )

A wasted opportunity, but I don't buy EA / Codemasters stuff anyway. Grid Legends just came out on Plus and I haven't touched it. Why would I when I have GT7 and PSVR2?

Abnor_Mal367d ago

Not into F1 racing, but still a missed opportunity.

ApocalypseShadow367d ago

That's where opportunity presents itself that they could offer something else that other developers haven't offered yet. Yeah. There's No Man's Sky. But a space game with a story would be great. Like the old days with Colony Wars.

Abnor_Mal367d ago

Exactly, they could have possibly lured more players just from the inclusion of a vr mode.

I miss Colony wars and G-Police, Low-Fi I hope will scratch that itch when it releases. We also need a vr War/Starhawk game.

Knushwood Butt366d ago

Just watched the trailer of Low-Fi. Most definitely on my radar.

Although I never owned an oculus, I played the demo for this at an electronics store. Pretty impressive in an early goings of VR title.
