Early The Order: 1886 Player Debunks Five Hour Long Playthrough Rumor; Gives More Info

Today a case surfaced due to the PSNProfiles listing of a PSN user named wMikkel, who already played through The Order: 1886 and unlocked the trophy for the completion of the game.

This caused some to believe that the game takes only five hours to complete, but wMikkel stepped up to debunk the rumor.

"I played the game a lot before earning my frist (first) trophy."

Sweet, good to know that you actually have to try to get the plat.

Btw, the frist is a typo from the article

Abriael3781d ago

Thanks for noticing it. Fixed.

Gore-Content3780d ago

Why the hell do people disagree on that comment?

yocdub3780d ago

Wait, Why are people disagreeing on the comment about disagreeing on the comment?

Snookies123780d ago

If we all work together, I believe we can stop this disagree chain. :[

Lol, on topic though, it's good to hear that it's got more to it than five hours. Looking forward to checking it out!

Braid3780d ago

What happened to gaming news lately? An article is published just to be debunked in the next day. I urge you to downvote those websites editors of whom doesn't know how to double check their news or do it deliberately to get hits.

On topic, already pre ordered and fully paid.

F0XHOUND3780d ago

Braid you killed the disagree chain.

I bet I get disagreed now, damn the internet is fun!

judging by the trophy list that has been posted on exophase for quite some time... The platinum for this game is going to be super simple. It's pretty much beat the game on any difficulty, get "X" amount of kills a certain way and find all collectibles.

The reason why it took so long for the author to get his first trophy is because none of the trophies are related to the story. It's like TLOU list where you could finish a playthrough and only receive one or two trophies.

I suspect you could pick this platinum up just over a 5 day rental from your local video store (if you have any).

The fact that this dude has had the game one day and is just waiting on a few collectible trophies says it all. The platinum will require very little effort.

Rimeskeem3781d ago (Edited 3781d ago )

When i say try i mean you have to actually focus on a portion to get it done. You most likely will not get the plat through your first playthrough.

ifistbrowni3781d ago (Edited 3781d ago )

erhmmm, most games require focus on specific trophies to get the platinum..

"Good to know you actually have to try to get the plat."

Name a few recent games in which you are just given the platinum...

Walking Dead (Telltale) is one of the only games I can think of that give you a platinum just by completing the story mode.

I bet we see 20 hour platinums for this game on PSNProfiles once the collectible guides get released onto youtube.

F0XHOUND3780d ago

What do you expect from this genre? Collectibles. Difficulty. Kills. Story. Pretty average stuff imo, but its the game that counts... not particularly the trophy variety.

ifistbrowni3780d ago (Edited 3780d ago )

@F0xhound, I like how 33 people, you included, took my reply as negative.

I was just pointing out to the person I replied to, that the trophies for this game aren't going to be hard. IMO, the first post in this article implied the trophies were going to be difficult.

I've rarely heard of a game that you did not even have to "Try" to get the platinum and achieve it. All I was pointing out, in terms of platinum difficulty, The Order looks incredibly simple.

I'm getting the game, I'm looking forward to getting the platinum and I'm looking forward to discussing this game on public forums. I just don't think this is going to be a platinum that requires much effort. I guess that equates to me assuming the game is flawed and terrible. The most extreme Sony fans are far too sensitive.

I absolutely love my Playstation 4 and it's exclusive titles. But admitting the trophy list looks simple I should be condemned? How dare I attack a Sony exclusive in such a way!??

To answer your question.. The only thing on the list that I was surprised not to see was a difficulty related trophy. Beat the game on easy, beat the game on hard, beat the game on "rip you hair out" Hard. I'm hoping that some of the collectibles are exclusive to higher difficulties, that way I can feel I achieve something (albeit something small/useless outside the community of trophy hunters) when I unlock the platinum.

this game will get the most hate. I am a long time ready at dawn fan so i know and expect few things from the order

great setting
awesome weapons/gun play
great story which will be 12 plus hours long
really polished

you simply can't judge a single player online game from a 30 minutes demo. Seriously people there was a time we gave a game a chance before we bashed it. It seems to me the order has been getting hate for last 6 plus months

don't you think ready at dawn see and hear that?

give it a chance before calling it bad. at worst it will be another 3rd person shooters but if anything i know for a fact it will have a great story

StrawberryDiesel4203780d ago

Critics were saying the same thing before Dead Space came out(less hype but still hated on)and they hadn't even played it. Look how that turned out. I expect the same with The Order.

Vanfernal3780d ago (Edited 3780d ago )

It's the same thing as people bashing Bloodborne because it's too easy based on the demo. A demo that the devs explicitly said was easier so that more people could test the game. It's the "hip" thing to do to hate on Sony exclusives. I expect a lot of mediocre review scores from people who are rooting for this game to fail. But I've yet to see a bad Ready at Dawn game.

k3rn3ll3780d ago

the only reason some think its hip to bag on sony exclusives is because of the lack of them since launch. So when journalists have sen nothing but the order and bloodborne for the past 8 months, by default your going your going to have more hate articles because the same demos have been reused multiple times. But each articles provides a crap ton of hits so they have to find something new to talk about each time. But if one reveiwer didnt like it the first time he played the demo, hes not gonna like it the second time. But they are kinda forced by editors to come up with something. Same in reverse to a person who liked it both times. He may decide to write the second article about what he didnt like. I dont know if ive seen anything that would make it seem like people were exaggerating their feelings for it because its "hip"

styferion3780d ago

There's so many "media" downplaying the game, many didn't even try to give sound argument.

I don't even understand, are they so busy looking for hits that they didn't realize they're downplaying their own sites or what? It seems as if they didn't understand that journalism is double-sided edge, you can write about anything but that can also be used to see what kind of media you are.

lelo2play3780d ago (Edited 3780d ago )

This game has been Gold for almost a month and it's a Single Player game. They could release some official reviews already.
It's not like they are waiting for the online servers to be turned on...

Alsybub3780d ago (Edited 3780d ago )

Probably an embargo. That doesn't mean it's a bad game, they just want the excitement to be running at it's highest just as it's released.

otherZinc3780d ago (Edited 3780d ago )

So, now what do you do, that The Order 1886 can be beaten in approximately 6 hours:

No Multiplayer
No Campaign Co-op
No Horde Mode
Is Linear
Has QTEs

Now what do you have for your $60 after 1 day?

Ron_Danger3780d ago

The fact that you wrote "no horde mode" in your comment reveals your actual intentions in this comment section.

Monkeycan83780d ago

How long have you been gaming?

Think of the game as a entree from a Gordon Ramsay restaurant the portion may be smaller then what you would get at a normal restaurant but the quality and taste (gameplay) are at the top of their field.

Ron_Danger3780d ago

Also...
Take that checklist and apply it to another game that came out soon after the launch window of a console launch and then look at where the series is at today... The game I speak of is Uncharted: Drakes Fortune.

Based on your logic, any game on any system that isn't called Gears of War 2 or 3 is a waste of $60. This is the sad state of fanboy logic. If you're going to post on how you don't like aspects of a game, that logic better apply across the board with you with all games.

3780d ago
ziggurcat3780d ago

@otherzinc:

so what do you do when the article claiming a 5 hour playthrough updates itself to say this:

"The time-stamps for the trophies were misunderstood at the time of reporting. Apologies for the confusion. Mods, feel free to take down this story."

http://n4g.com/news/1666203...

and the person cited in that article said in this article that the 5 hour playthrough isn't true at all?

thereapersson3780d ago

Hrm, why are you here commenting on this game? Since you'll never play this game and are only BLATANTLY TROLLING with comments like "no horde mode". Really, Zinc...

People want this game to fail so bad. It's disgusting. I'm just happy I don't let the media chose what I like. I'm looking forward to this game and I like what I see so far!

Jughead34163781d ago

But why do people want this game to fail? I don't understand. But yes, not letting the media dictate what games I play is how everyone should be. If you do your homework, and follow a game enough, you should know if it's something you'll like. Don't let the media sway you. This game will be great.

JMaine5183781d ago

The only thing I can think of is that since this is a next-gen game then it is suppose to bring new things to gaming and when they see a linear, tps with qte's they get turned off. That's fair to say but to go and say the game will be bad because of those things is not.

Clunkyd3780d ago (Edited 3780d ago )

Because its an exclusive game.

kurruptor3780d ago

It is called fan boys. Sad thing is any person can have a website nowadays. There's no credibility. Even some of the major sites are doing the same things.

jznrpg3780d ago

They want it to fail because they cant play it on their box

Rachel_Alucard3780d ago

I'm not gonna say the game is gonna be bad, however it doesn't appeal to me with all details that have been revealed so far. I feel like the 60$ could be better spent on another game that appeals to me instead. I am very much looking forward to Bloodborne and other exclusives coming this year, but as of now The Order just doesn't click with me.

waverebel4173780d ago

I agree that Too many people want the game to fail but when the developer says that they don't like adding gameplay aspects to their game and instead would rather make a cgi movie, that doesn't help much

bouzebbal3780d ago

i didnt think there was one person who thinks like me in this matter. everyone is waiting for reviews before they decide, which is such a bad way of thinking. Corrupt media deciding for me? it never happened and it will never happen. first because an opinion of game is very subjective, and second is that they're all corrupt, with no exception.
a bubble for you.

shodai3780d ago

I will tell you why people want it to fail, its because its Sony. Whenever Sony posts something, and especially if its something uncommon that has risks involved, like say: going for a cinematic feel, there will be the fanboys of both sides (Xbox and nintendo) trying everything they can to downplay the game and criticize because they see it as a weaker entry than other big franchise (gotta attack the weakest link). And then, there are playstation fans, which are not downplaying the game, but have their doubts over it, there are people from old gens saying they dont need to buy a PS4 over this game because its still the beginning of this gen and some people cant aford new gen console, so they convince themselves they are not missing out. Some people have the PS4 but cant afford all games so they convince themselves they are not missing out and make other choices (not a bad thing because they can play it whenever they want especailly if it gets a good reception).

And at the end of all of this, there are the enthusiasts like me who give chances to all games as long as they are not broken by bugs.

Stapleface3780d ago (Edited 3780d ago )

Look I don't want to blow your mind, but there is another "or" that belongs in your paragraph. The other "or" is "or other people just have different opinions than me, and don't blindly give something GOTY before playing it just because it's a Sony exclusive". Your in serious defense mode, over something that you haven't even played and could end up being a crappy game. It could end up being the best game ever, but you know the truth of that as much as I do, which is not at all. Your the one trying to convince their self of something here. You have already convinced yourself that this is a great game because, Sony. So your no worse than everyone your complaining about.

shodai3780d ago

@stapleface

I never said the game was going to be good nor did I say it was a goty contender. I didnt defend sony game nor do I buy blindly just because its sony.

Let me quote back from what wrote down in my last sentence:"And at the end of all of this, there are the enthusiasts like me who give chances to all games as long as they are not broken by bugs."

This world is neither black nor white, and there are no perfect games and 100% bad games, and as long as a game is not 100% bad, I will give it a fair chance.

LOL ur reply is so stupid on so many levels.

TheRedButterfly3780d ago

It's not that people "want it to fail," it's that some people swear up and down that it is going to be X/Y/Z and those who demo it say "yeah, don't expect X/Y... at least not from what we saw" - And then Dualshockers comes out and says "but no! This one guy said it's great! See it's great!"

Is it great? I'm sure it could be. But we don't/won't know until embargo(s) lift, so nobody can sing its praises or dig its grave yet. Nobody. On either side.

But yeah I agree I hope this games does succeeds

morganfell3781d ago

"That should shut the damn haters up."

But it will not. As soon as one excuse is removed, they will create and amplify five more to take its place. You are making a supposition based on reason but the hate which has been levelled against this title has no sense of rationalization whatsoever. Any excuse will serve a tyrant and the most anorexic of imagined affirmations will in the minds of these imbeciles, justify the negativity.

smoothop3781d ago

Just as many ppl defending it as there are attacking it, it don't matter either way, spend your money how you see fit. What you're basically saying is anyone in the media that is negative about the game are not to be trusted, but anyone that's positive are to be trusted. Your way of thinking is not logical, you need to stop and think about what you actually say.

Enjoy the game all who buy it, I'm not the greatest fan of it from what I've seen, but that's just my opinion, I don't mean nothing by it.

DarkOcelet3781d ago (Edited 3781d ago )

There is a difference when almost 90% of the articles are negative about the game. Its just like The Evil Within, many journalists downplayed the game and it became my Goty.

My thinking is actually logical when you see that few downplayed Destiny or Watch Dogs until gamers played the game themselves and saw that they were overhyped. If they did downplay the games like they did here then i would say its ok, many games gets criticized so badly but nobody said anything back then. So you will understand when i say i am really pissed at the way those journalists work. Hell, i remember a site giving Destiny 10/10 before it even got released

Trust is a hard thing nowadays when journalists are dishonest in almost everything. How come no one said anything about AC Unity bugs before the people played the game. I can list many things here but i dont want to bore you. In the end, i will just make my own decision based on what i have seen and take a few reviewers words on it.

SoapShoes3781d ago

Difference is people aren't saying it will be amazing like it's fact. The defense is from people calling out the hate that has no reason behind it.

The 10th Rider3780d ago (Edited 3780d ago )

@DarkOcelot,

As far as Destiny goes I did see a few articles before its release calling it out. But they were brushed aside as haters. There were also a few early, low-scoring reviews...Brushed aside because of the whole 'You can't trust early reviews' thing and they were sites just 'looking for hits'.

I love the Order's tone, graphics, and setting...The gameplay to me looks acceptable, I have seen anything gameplay wise that's blown my mind, but I also haven't seen the full game. If the gameplay gets to be a drag I see the game being somewhere in the 7's. If the gameplay's fine I see it somewhere in the 8's. And if the gameplay hits us with a few surprises and really stands out I see it being in the 9's.

Alsybub3780d ago (Edited 3780d ago )

If I were saying the game sucks, before playing it, I'd feel like a monumental fool if it turned out to be great; at the same time I would feel like a fool if I were saying it will be amazing and it turned out that it's not that good.

We can rarely delete what we say on the internet and I'm not willing to have people calling me out on it, either way, after the game is released, the next time I'm in a debate on here.

As I have said all the way through with this game, I reserve judgement until it's in my hands (although I've been told I'm a biased, Xbox fanboy by PM for it). The negative press is concerning but we can't pass judgement on the media until the game is out, or we look like idiots if they were right and we didn't take their advice. The same way that they shouldn't be passing judgement on an unfinished game although that doesn't stop the media from being able to raise concerns, as long as it takes into account that it isn't the final product.

Once it's out, if it has amazing reviews, then people can scream "boycott the press!" from the rooftops and feel safe in the knowledge that they are, unquestionably, right to do so. Until then, saying that the media is just biased and hating is as bad as if they really are.

Yes, I want this game. No, I am not willing to defend, or attack, anything without the whole picture.

Hope you enjoy The Order, have a good time with it.

CocoWolfie3781d ago

my two cents? there has been a lot of disappointments as of late :/ it would be unfair to judge before release, but people do, and it makes sense why. from a few months back the previews talked about some worries, but thats what previews are for, to tell us and also to tell them. i mean its been months and in weeks you can change a lot, even looking at the recent build we were shown, it looks much better. or looking at uncharted 4's gameinformer interview. yeno, they said 4 weeks before psx, it was a not that. so my two cents, its big for sony and us, i couldnt see them not pushing it to be better. and yeno, people will always judge, and a lot of those will buy it, and some just may not. but yeah, creating articles out of assumption is what people/readers would jump to/talk about, it would drive that continuing disappointment expectancy. but because they writer jumped ahead they didnt release that hey its actually 10 hours or something, and might actually be improved, and maybe a good game.

i hope this makes sense :( i kind of just typed away. if you read it, thx :3

DarkOcelet3781d ago

If you wrote it, i will read it, dont worry about that :)

And i understand what you mean when people judge things unfairly sometime but the game is being judged in a way i have never seen before in my life. It makes me wonder why one of the best looking games and one that actually looks interesting and mysterious enough that you want to know everything about is the only game that is getting so much hate. Like i said, hopefully this game succeeds because RAD are a talented studio and i dont want to see their hard work go to waste.

lelo2play3780d ago

Calm down! To be a man is accepting the criticisms as well as the praises of something. Only a brat listens to the praises and completely ignores the criticisms.

As for The Order: 1886, some people will like the game, and others will not... and then there are the stupid fanboys opinions that don't count much.
Not everyone is automatically obliged to love the game.

Stapleface3780d ago

If we could only shut the people giving it GOTY already up then something amazing would have been done. But both groups will continue to speculate. One side claiming victory and it's glorious state as a game before they even put the disc in, the other claiming the games defeat before it's even released. Both are annoying as hell. Both spout out speculation as fact constantly. Both are here to stay forever, unfortunately.

The Order: 1886 Sequel Would Have Featured Larger-Scale Battles & Multiplayer

A sequel to Sony and Ready At Dawn's action-adventure game, The Order: 1886, would have featured larger-scale battles as well as multiplayer.

Why add multiplayer when the single player (despite enjoying it for what it was) had flaws?

You'd work out the issues with how you craft the single player then once you’ve perfected it do multiplayer after.

"Two sequels were planned for the franchise, The Order 1891 and The Order 1899. While the third game was never in development, Weerasuriya says he had planned where the story of the franchise was planned to go, if he had been able to develop the full trilogy."
...
Alas, we'll also might never get the PC version of 1886, which is currently residing in some dev's hard drive, nearly ready for a release if required.

Charal15d ago

It’s a shame we didn’t gave its chance to this franchise.
Game world was very interesting, and gameplay could have evolved to a major hit with sequels.
Not even speaking about graphics that were way ahead of their time.

I think MP being co-op would’ve been awesome. Essentially, I always viewed this as Sony’s take on the Gears series.

However, it really failed to measure up to what I expected. I definitely saw the potential but there were some things that really bogged it down for me like the forced slow walking segments (which I know was to hide loading), the repetitive warehouse werewolf fights, not enough variety in enemies, oddly we fought more humans than Darkstalkers, and the stealth sections were infuriating.

One thing there’s no denying though, this damn game was a looker. Such a shame at the wasted potential.

The Order: 1886, a Ten Year Reunion

WTMG's Leo Faria: "After finally playing the now decade-old The Order: 1886, what do I think about it? Is it really worthy of all the hate it has received over the past decade? Or is it some kind of hidden gem? I honestly think it falls somewhere in the middle. I loved the setting, the story is initially fine, the combat isn’t half-bad, and the potential for some awesome world building was there. It was all bogged down by too much ambition against a tight deadline, as well as poor marketing. As a result, it’s short, full of plotholes, infested with QTEs, and not exactly memorable as a whole. As a game you can grab for less than ten bucks today, I absolutely think it’s worth checking out. It’s one hell of a wasted potential, but for such a discount, I had some fun with it, and I’m sure you will too."

Great setting, great graphics, even decent gun play, but what a trash of a game. The fuck were these people thinking? We could've had something like an Alan Wake 2 meets Mass Effect 2 style game. With investigations, creepy locations to uncover and explore, people to talk to and even recruit, clues to uncover and connect, monsters to slay, side quests to get lost in, and a more expansive lore to go with it.

Instead we got a shitty AAAAAAAAA Third Person Pew Pew snoozfest. Awesome.

Jesus H. Christ, bud. You just sound like a Sony apologist. What the fuck? Anyways. Good luck with that or whatever.

coolbeans111d ago

God. The "what could've been" you're describing would've been way better than just being the most empty cinematic shooter slop of that generation.

SimpleSlave111d ago

Right? I mean, I can understand people enjoying this thing ironically. Knowing that it sucks but still enjoying it for what it is. I get that. That's fine. We all have our guilty pleasure no doubt. But to come here and actually pretend that this is a top 5 PS4 game? Wow!

To pretend that this barely there game is anything more than an "empty cinematic shooter slop of that generation," as you said, is beyond ridiculous. But I guess Self-Awareness is some expensive ass DLC still.

Yeah, OK. You want to lie to yourself? You do you, bud. But like I said to the other Sony apologist, "good luck with that or whatever."

-Foxtrot111d ago

Jesus, it had some flaws but you're acting like it was unplayable.

It built a foundation, a rocky one but a sequel is where they could have refined things.

Personally my only issue is I feel like the "Gears of War" like over the shoulder gameplay, especially getting into cover and the like didn't really fit the game as much. In Gears you understand that kind of gameplay because they are wearing super heavy amour and guns but in the Order these guys are super human, they should feel more of a breeze to control, easily jumping over things and being allowed to climb whatever similar to Uncharted.

Im back again to simp for The Order, if ya like games well grounded in their reality with consistency in everything it does then I recommend it if ya haven't played it. Play it thru emulation or on your PS it don't matter just play it.

1nsomniac112d ago (Edited 112d ago )

A great game run down by the media for it's price vs length - Which was understandable, but it shouldn't of been the be all and end all.

At the right price this was a great game & deserved a sequel!

thorstein111d ago

Exactly. What a weird metric that suddenly was important and then, within a few months, no longer mattered.

andy85111d ago

I enjoyed this. I think the complaints were the length if I remember. Nothing wrong with a short good game, at least to physical copy owners 😅

Rebel_Scum111d ago

Put the thing on PS plus already!

The Order: 1886 Dev Pitched a Sequel to Sony, But Was Denied

Co-founder thinks bad reviews were to blame.
Ready at Dawn co-founder has revealed the now-shuttered studio pitched a sequel to PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886 to Sony, but was denied the chance to make it.

I can't believe sony turned down a sequel to the order 1886 which ended basically on a cliffhanger. The game is amazing and I would love a ps5 pro enhanced version just like I'd like a driveclub ps5 pro enhanced version.

DodoDojo121d ago

About 2 million sales and not the greatest of reviews, I can believe it.

Tbh there's a lot of dormant Sony exclusives that are more deserving of a sequel.

ravens52121d ago

Have you played it? Just curious.

ABizzel1121d ago (Edited 121d ago )

2 million probably wasn’t enough to make a strong profit on, and the mid reviews didn’t help, even though it was a solid game just short, and could have expanded way more on the creature mythos.

Days Gone: +7 million / mid reviews (no sequel)
Infamous SS: 6 million / mid reviews (no sequel)
Killzone SF: +2 million (4 mo.) / mid reviews (no sequel)
Driveclub: +2 million (2015 / leaks say 5m) / mid reviews (no sequel)

Basically it looks like for the PS4 generation budgets were getting out of control and Sony made the decision

sales + reviews - budget = sequel or no sequel

goken121d ago

Whatever the number, can’t be worst than concord

SimpleDad121d ago

Glad that Alloy Lego is doing great.

Toecutter00120d ago

Two million in sales for a new IP is pretty impressive. The world-building was in a class on its own. Any moron could see this IP had mad potential and the fact that Sony balked on it makes one question their competence and leadership.

Cacabunga120d ago

Nothing to do with sales. It’s all about the broken vision that Sony is having lately.
Days Gone sold great but they still don’t want a sequel to it.
Sony wants Easy money and they saw it in gaas and lazy games like lego horizon and countless remasters..

Idky you can’t believe it.
This game was shitted on by everyone besides some PS fans.

Don’t blame Sony on this one. Blame everyone who wanted to see this burn. Sony does a lot of stupid shit with their IP and waste a lot of them like bloodborne and days gone, but don’t be surprised with this one.

Outside_ofthe_Box121d ago

Exactly. I came to post exactly this. The game was torn apart upon release. It's not shocking that a sequel was denied.

S2Killinit121d ago

Not “upon” release. There was a whole campaign “prior” to release.

In my opinion they should have made it a bit less linear and it would have been great. I did enjoy it. But the reception it got makes sense that Sony wouldnt want to risk a sequel if it was going to open up a can of worms with people who wanted the first one to fail.

Christopher121d ago

I played the game. I 100% believe Sony turned down a sequel.

blackblades121d ago

Well pretty obvious when it was left on a cliffhanger. Many sequels get turned from companies as someone else said above blame the SOB's that always whining.

Sabbath1313121d ago

i 100% agree with you, both of those games were amazing

Bathyj121d ago

What's so hard to believe? Don't you remember this game was crucified by the media.. it was DOA. It's a shame because it was a really fresh new IP it was gorgeous and a play really well . it had some issues but it wasn't the only game with qte repeated bosses and a playtime under 10 hours.

TheEroica121d ago ShowReplies(2)
mkis007120d ago (Edited 120d ago )

It was panned because of the graphics hype. Kind of similar to Ryse and hellblade 2...although the story was pretty interesting in all 3.

As a matter of fact I think Indy's success is partially due to the fact the graphics were not hyped up pre launch.

It’s strange though Sony would be so proud about their work and overall quality but wouldn’t give them an extra year to, give them that quality.

Anyway he talks about if it was in the 70s they’d have had their sequel but Days Gone is at 71 on Metacritic and we don’t have a sequel.

Both games should have one, I think they deserve a second chance at refining and building onto that foundation already laid out.

neutralgamer1992121d ago (Edited 121d ago )

Definitely days gone 2 should happen. Who knows maybe now Sony will let them make it since bend had to cancel its live service game. Days gone 2 for PS6 sounds amazing

As far as order 1886 sequel it would be have been interesting. I think if this game was a RPG with 15 hour story it would have done so much better. Don't get me wrong game is great but you can tell the potential is there if they were allowed to make some drastic changes

Sadly this new Sony is not the PlayStation they are suits and spreadsheet guys. Playstation has lost its touch with gamers. I miss Shawn jack Andrew house etc

At the launch of PS4 Playstation was at its full strength with gamers running the company but not anymore. No we have a guy who loves horizon above every thing else and is willing to fund projects based on that IP

Redemption-64121d ago

So an IP that actually sell? Sony moved away from the type of games you saw during the launch of the PS4 because many gamer didn't support them. I hear people crying more about say Japan Studio closing than actually supporting their games when they were open. Wasn't it shawn layden who said many of these games fail and you hope a few like horizon to make up for the failed games. Maybe if gamers actually supported these games there would be more of them. Shocking right?

Redemption-64121d ago

There is no sequel for Days Gone because it didn't sell. The director himself said "If you love a game, buy it at f****** full price. I can't tell you how many times I've seen gamers say 'yeah, I got that on sale, I got it through PS Plus, whatever'.”

Majority of the sales from days gone came from when it was heavily discounted, and I have seen many gamers say they will not pay full price or the game isn't worth full price, but they will buy it when it's discounted. Yet they get triggered when the studio decides to move away from a game they refused to support at full price

jwillj2k4121d ago (Edited 121d ago )

What this is showing is that the majority of people don’t like the price. It doesn’t mean they don’t like the game. Two different dimensions.

Example: The company Take Two took advantage by selling NBA 2K at $20, completely undercutting NBA live to become the most popular basketball game. High priced games isn’t the only way they can make money.

-Foxtrot121d ago

Well. If we are going to go off that director apparently Days Gone hit 8 million sales around the same time frame that Ghost of Tsushima later did.

https://x.com/JakeRocket/st...

One was considered a failure, the other a massive success so I don't think it just boils down to sales.

Redemption-64121d ago

@Foxtrot

Hey, maybe you clearly know more than the director/writer. If memory serves me right, Days Gone went on sale faster than Ghost. Also, please know budget is a major factor. There is a huge difference between Ghost with a budget of $60M selling 8M, vs Days Gone, with a budget of $250M selling 8M after major price cut. One can be considered a success, because it had a much lower budget.

Don't Complain If a Game Doesn’t Get a Sequel” If You Didn’t Buy It “At F-cking Full Price, clearly shows the game didn't make the money it needed to make within the time frame it needed

Redemption-64121d ago

@jwillj2k4

What is shows is majority of gamers didn't think Days Gone was worth the $60 price tag and clearly Sony agrees with them. You can like a game, but if you don't think it is worth the price tag, why do you complain when the company decides to not invest in a game you don't think is worth what they are charging? They should release the game, lose money, cut the price and then you will support it?

jwillj2k4119d ago

Reading is fundamental. I said start with a reduced price not cut the price after you’ve already released it. It was an example to show how there are other ways they couldn’t make money. The idea is that number of buyers is much greater at $20 than $60. I didn’t think I had the point that out to you.

Redemption-64119d ago (Edited 119d ago )

@jwillj2k4

The number of buyers being greater at $20 than $60 does not equate to more money. You literally have to sell 2-3 times more to makeup the difference. Starting with a reduced price for an AAA that costs say $250M is pure stupidity and again would have to sell 2-4 times more depending on the reduced price break even. Or include micro transactions. They can make it into a free live service game with mtx. Yeah, you are right, maybe they should follow the route 2K NBA took

Clearly many don't think the game is worth $60. Who knows maybe the remaster can give it hope. But it would be funny if they get a sequel and people refuse to buy it at full price. Highly doubt those who think the game isn't worth 60, will be lining up for 70.

S2Killinit121d ago

Days Gone deserved so much better than 71. I’ve noticed that some PlayStation games get attacked and it feels generated. Like money is behind the hate campaign.

-Foxtrot121d ago

Days Gone was that one game which wasn't really attacked by gamers but by journalists.

As soon as it was revealed they really didn't like it for some reason, it was made out to be because it came across as a generic looking open world game or another generic "zombie" game but at the time we had plenty of open world games and a fair few "zombie/infected" games that these journalists didn't bad an eyelid towards.

When the game released broken before the Day One patch it just gave these journalists a massive excuse to slaughter the game in their reviews.

On one hand, a game shouldn't have released in that broken state or at least they shouldn't have given journalists a copy without the Day One patch HOWEVER these are the same journalists who usually gloss over that kind of stuff with so many other games, take Star Wars Outlaws for example, the game was a buggy, broken mess at launch with plenty of issues, bad AI, some clear performance issues and a lot of quality of life improvements needed but it still did a lot better than Days Gone at launch.

Personally I think they knew they could get away with it more because Sony Bend weren’t that high up and respectable, they knew calling their game out as much as they did wouldn't hit them with any major consequences unlike if they hypothetically were like this towards NaughtyDog, Sony Santa Monica or Insomniac.

RaidenBlack121d ago

Yea and there was/is a PC version of 1886 too in 2016 ... but now maybe collecting dust in some dev's hardrive.

Relientk77121d ago

That's lame. It's not perfect, definitely a flawed game, but deserves a sequel. You already have the first game as a starting point just need to improve upon it. This could have been a much better sequel like the jump from Assassin's Creed to Assassin's Creed 2. The IP has potential.

S2Killinit121d ago

But Assassins Creed sold a lot.
