Looks like friend lists can’t catch a break lately, and the Xbox One friend list and social features (like messages and parties) are down again for many users around the world.

Weird that both microsoft and sony had problems with friend list lately.

You'd almost think there could be a connection.

bleedsoe9mm3495d ago (Edited 3495d ago )

they were both attacked by the same hacker group , makes me wonder if they left something behind . oh course i have no idea what i'm talking about when it comes to hacking attacks . it would be pretty concerning if it were true and both companies weren't telling customers .

@Abriael like i said i have no idea about that stuff , but couldn't the DDOS used to screen a different attack , i thought i remembered something similar in the big sony attack a few years ago

Abriael3495d ago (Edited 3495d ago )

@bleedsoe9mm: from what we know, it was just a DDOS attack. Can't leave behind stuff with those because the servers aren't actually compromised, just flooded.

Edit: it could, but it's almost impossible for it not to be detected almost immediately, and by both parties.

Dual shocker fueling the propaganda train. "Xbox One Friend List and Social Features Down Again for Many Users" is the title but the issue has nothing to do with that.

It says "CREATING NEW ACCOUNTS" is down.
"Creating new accounts on Xbox Live, managing those accounts, or recovering an account on a different device
10/17/2014 4:13:37 PM CST(aka 20 minutes after the article was written):
Were you having trouble editing your profile settings, or viewing your Friends list? We’re happy to report that everything is back to normal. Thanks for your patience while our team worked."

Haven't seen a single issue for me or any of my friends all day. Didn't even realize there was an "issue" (and my friends and I was actually playing on it)until I decided to take a quick break from playing and read this. Not to mention when an issue is fixed before you can post and approve your own article it isn't too big of a deal.

@abriael out of curiousity, why do you cover issues that last 20 minutes on xbl but have yet to post any of the issues for other systems networks that have been much more severe?

Abriael3495d ago

@nicksetzer1: you may want to read a little better before raging:

"Xbos users, are you having problems editing your profile settings or *viewing your friends*?"

Get a grip :D

And by the way, I posted abut yesterday's PSN outage as well. Again, may want to chill, 'cause you need it.

nicksetzer13495d ago (Edited 3495d ago )

@abriael where exactly are the stories you claim to have written?

http://www.dualshockers.com...

You wrote ONE (out of multiple issues in the last week or two and it was just saying service back up.) Meanwhile you have 4 articles about xbox live which had this 20 minute issue and the friends list on the home screen issue for preview members.

Also, maybe you should learn to read it as I wrote:
"10/17/2014 4:13:37 PM CST(aka 20 minutes after the article was written):
Were you having trouble editing your profile settings, or viewing your Friends list? We’re happy to report that everything is back to normal. Thanks for your patience while our team worked."

Notice, as I said in my comment, that I was pointing out that this announcement was 20 minutes (at most) after you wrote the article...

darthv723495d ago

So what happens to these type of "news" when the problems are fixed?

Does the article get pulled down from your site as well as N4G?

Since the problem is fixed then no reason to perpetuate it by keeping it active. Just curious.

After the latest update MS had I noticed more lag than usual. Things were responding slowly certain features freezing like accessing friends.

The new update is great but a unstable mess at the moment.
Hope MS gets things back on track soon.

jcole973495d ago

Mine seems kinda faster since the update. I haven't been on today but i hope they get it fixed.

Charybdis3495d ago

maybe this month friendlist update for the x1 should have stayed longer in their beta acces program to smooth the issues out. things like these shouldnt happen as often as they do now.

G20WLY3495d ago

Oh grow up ... *sniggers*

Why are our new systems so unstable? What its it with friends lists that is so complicated or easy to mess with.

Sort it out guys, we're paying for a service!!

Godmars2903495d ago

Is it possible that between this instance and what's going on with PSN that some hacker's found a way to disrupt both networks but no one's reporting on it? Neither MS nor Sony have told anyone?

darthv723495d ago (Edited 3495d ago )

Im not in front of my xbox so i cant confirm but...it looks like things are working.

Abriael3495d ago (Edited 3495d ago )

And microsoft just acknowledged the issue on the status page now.
