Broken Sword V Episode 2 Review I Expansive

Episode Two really goes in deep on Gnostic history as you might expect, and gradually, this whole adventure stops being about just a painting, as it drives home a dark, much more sinister purpose.

But unfortunately, many of the Episode reveals aren’t entirely surprising. One of Episode One’s strengths was definitely the script and story-development, but it also created a sense of mystery and unpredictability. Episode Two offers a real diverse set of scenarios, the outcomes of which make perfect narrative sense, but Expansive always felt like we could see the outcome coming a mile away, which did make things feel a tad flat.

Still, the investigation and discovery in this Episode is far superior to the first. This is Broken Sword at its finest as George and Nico uncover hidden passageways and abandoned relics in their quest. And the locations are truly gorgeous. Spain recreated is exceptionally special, as are all the other locations within the Episode. This episode is full of the joys of exploration and really tunes into the great adventure games of old with its non-stop progression.

Hydrphobia... never heard of that one but it looks interesting.

Teflon02821d ago

I tried when it was given on ps plus like 8 years ago for the same reason. I promise you, it's not worth your time

darthv72821d ago

thanks for the info.

gee... I guess my not knowing about this really struck a nerve with some people.

CobraKai821d ago

@darth
Or maybe it’s that you found it interesting. I remember seeing this on 360 and thinking the same tho.

isarai821d ago

It has interesting water physics, but past that it's very meh.

robothouserock821d ago

This site is toxic for anything besides lurking. I've been coming here for years and this is probably my first comment in five years.

Atom666821d ago

I downvoted you to help you feel welcomed.

robothouserock821d ago

Been on this site for ten years or so, but thanks!

x_xavier_x821d ago (Edited 821d ago )

I'm pretty sure that they down-voted you because you said that the game "looks interesting". Didn't you know, there's no positivity allowed on N4G... particularly when talking about anything related to Xbox.

itsmebryan821d ago

It's sad but, true. It's not just Xbox related. I said "Ghost wire looks interesting. I hope it's good" and got a bunch of downvoted. Smh

Kran821d ago

Sorry to break it to you.

Its not.

porkChop821d ago

I bought it on Steam for $1.50 and I still felt ripped off.

Gamer79821d ago

It's not bad, a bit janky though.

Thegr81821d ago

I’m sorry but this is pathetically bad. I defend Xbox sometimes but what is this crap??? Lol

roadkillers821d ago

“Just get Gamepass and stfu” - my sentiments exactly. What’s the point of game for gold now.

gerbintosh821d ago

Can't have GWG looking good when they are pushing game pass. Eventually people will get tired of the garbage games and switch

babadivad821d ago

The only good thing about Games with Gold is you own the games forever even if you discontinue paying for live. You don't have to worry about it being cycled out like you do with GP. You actually own it.

dilbig5821d ago

@babadivad

You only keep the 360 games.

peppeaccardo821d ago

Plain and simple this is how they push people into Gamepass ... one turd after another on GWG !!

porkChop821d ago

Broken Sword is cool, but the rest are pretty garbage offerings.

Orchard821d ago

Another terrible month.

They should either improve it or just kill it already and tell people GamePass is where you go to get games via subscription.

gangsta_red821d ago (Edited 821d ago )

GWG hasn't been a factor since GP has been available, it's almost insulting now

Teflon02821d ago

Just cancel it at this point, don't think anyone will even care, saves ms money and everyone basically uses gamepass now anyways

sparky77821d ago

Exactly just let it die and save some money for Game Pass deals.

It shocks me every month that they can still find games that I have never heard of before.

jznrpg820d ago

Or they could offer better games

UC4 was a great relationship story, even if that wasn't it's primary focus. Anyone who's been in a long term relationship knows that it can be like a rollercoaster with the highs and lows, UC4 illustrated this brilliantly.

Fist4achin1899d ago

A list for Valentine's day. What about Garcia Hotspur and Paula from Shadows of the Damned? He traversed hell for her despite her having a previous affair with a devil.

How about Dante and Beatrice from Dante's inferno? Dante also went through hell and faced off against Lucifer himself.

These guys definitely carried quite the burden for love.

SuperSonic911899d ago

Uncharted 2 is still a masterpiece in storytelling of love triangles.
Nate, Elena, Chloe and Harry Flynn.
WoW!
Unbeatable!

bluefox7551899d ago

That would be a love square. Though Flynn wasn't REALLY part of it, so triangle would still be apt.

DefenderOfDoom21899d ago

15 pages ??? ZERGNET websites are the circus freakshow of the Internet .
