Haze Week; the PS3 Attitude review

Excerpt from PS3 Attitude:

"There are two things I noticed immediately about Haze when playing the campaign mode, and interestingly both of these items became largely insignificant later, but for different reasons.

The first is the graphics.

Haze is never going to win any awards for graphical prowess. After a mammoth 8-hour session playing the single-player campaign through, I can honestly say I didn't notice any major issues with the graphics - certainly not the pop-ups being commented on in other websites and magazines. The graphics are not remarkable, but they aren't terrible either."

IGN really stuck it to Free Rad unjustly. I played the demo and while it did fall way short of what i was expecting, it sure in the hell was far better than Turok. Which makes me wonder how did Turok recieve a better score from IGN whilst being an obviously crappier game.

Nice to see a website call out out IGN on some ALLEDGED issues that HAZE was unfairly cited of having but in reality do not.

Still, I'm sitting this one out and its not because of IGN, its because of the voice acting. YUuuuuuuuuuK

do expect somethings from a game specially if it was a ps3 exclusive and if they game fall short in one or two aspects of what they expected then they take revenge for making thing get all hyped up and give it the lowest score possible, i mean how is it possible Haze gets 4's and 5's and 6's and echocrome gets 7's and 8's??? i know echocrome is on a different level but when someone judge a game he/she should look at the graphics level, gameplay, sound and overall the game feeling, and i know it cant be 4.5/10.

its sad to see sites take their anger to the gaming scores!!

I agree with you. And it appears the bigger the site or mag is, the more there's a chance that the review will be swayed by revenue-related issues too.

We've tried to be balanced in our review, and something you should know about our Haze Week - we did it because we truly like the game and because Ubisoft were good enough to work with us, not because it was being sponsored by Ubi - in fact everything we do is independent and not swayed by advertising.

i didnt expect someone who wrote the article will write to me! this is the first time :)!!

well yes i also realized that the bigger the site the more confident they get to give the game scores as they wish even if its not realistic scoring, well i never take review so seriously and i always try to see what the scores on other games i liked, so if i see it reasonable then i consider the site opinion, but there was games like MGS3 i liked it more than MGS2 but most sites gave later one a higher score, the most thing i consider is gameranking and metacriric average reviews if the game was higher than 8 then it should be very good game if its above 7 then average, i buy average games but not with full price, i dont have so much money to spend on gaming these days am still student.

i think free radicals should put a nice demo with intense action level to let the people see for them self's.

bubble for u @DolphGB

Glad I could be of service.

For the record, I think more reviewers/editors should play an active role at N4G and get involved...

I've actually learned from Haze reviews, to take Reviews in general with a grain of salt. I'm actually starting to catch on which websites obviously is hopping on the "I hate it too" bandwagon. You can tell when they really don't go onto much detail why they think something is bad. Or don't go onto any specific areas where they felt the "slow-down" or "pop-ins" or whatever.

I will be starting a website soon with a group of my friends, to hopefully combat this kind of stuff. Give a much fairer insight of a game. If it sucks, then it sucks. If it's moderate, then it's moderate. And being more consistent with reviews of other games as well. That's one of the main things lacking from these corporate paid websites. Consistency.

is just fine.. multiplayer is fun except I notice alot of people team kill each other other than that at least the sniper rifles hit where you aim. Try it people it's really not as bad as they say.

PS3 Attitude's Haze review is probably the best I've read - perfectly balanced and thoughtful without ever swaying towards hyperbole or rubbishing the game for the sake of it.

Written by a gamer who obviously enjoyed writing about it.

achira5847d ago

the game is very good. especially coop. forget ign.

Sez 5847d ago

this game sucks. no review can save this peice of sh!t. just accept the 4, rating an move on.

princejb1345847d ago

agree with u there
this game does suck, it plays just like Halo rubbish
i played this on the psn demo of this and the guns looked just like halo guns and the gameplay was like it also, except for the drug use

Sez 5847d ago (Edited 5847d ago )

if you want to compare this game to halo. then thats your opinion. but you really can't compare this to game to halo. maybe halo's SP could have been better or longer. but the MP is what makes halo and has always made halo a good FPS. not the best, but a good fps. this game the graphic isn't that great. but the game play is generic, the feel of the ps3 controller don't help either.(or maybe it just don't feel right to me) the AI is dumb. but i guess thats because it's a demo. it made me feel like i was playing snowblind for the PC.( just outdated)

Top 10 Bad Games by Good Studios

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "When shopping for new video games you can often trust the name publisher or developer on the box to be an indication of the quality of the game. Names like Nintendo, Square Enix, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Capcom, Xbox Game Studios and Sega are world famous because they helped shape the industry by releasing some of the most defining video games of all time. Though sometimes even these great gaming houses stumble and put out a stinker."

Splatterhouse remake . Loved the og’s at the arcade growing up . Hell the best thing about the remake was the og,s were included . And left alive by Square . That game had so much potential , but the gameplay was worse horrendous .

Game-ur1422d ago

once Great studios getting destroyed is actually common. happened with ND and Last of Us2, Bioware and Mass Effect Andromeda/Anthem, Bungle and Destiny .

BeRich2331422d ago

Fuse should have been on that list (Insomniac Games)

Yui_Suzumiya1422d ago

Splatterhouse remake kicked ass

merryja1422d ago

I personally don't like these games.

East76lands1422d ago

I'm pretty much certain that any Sonic game that comes out will be terrible, I've not enjoyed one since the original side-scrolling days of the MegaDrive.

HarryMasonHerpderp1422d ago

Then you might like a recent sonic "sonic mania".

jaymacx1422d ago

For this Topic it says Good Studios that make bad games. Sonic Team hasn't been good in years.
