Avid Gamer: Haze Demo Impressions

Avid Gamer writes:

"Haze, since its announcement in 2006, has gone through a lot. To begin with was a standard 'not-ready-yet' delay which set the game's release as winter 2007, rather than its original date of summer 2007. Then Ubisoft announced that Haze would be a Playstation 3 exclusive, stating the development for the Xbox 360 and PC had been scrapped. Finally came a further delay to May this year. As customary with any new game, with only a couple of weeks left until the long awaited release, Free Radical have spat out a demo to finally show off what they've been up to over the last couple of years. The vital question is whether the game has the legs to stand up to the hype, justifying the constant delays."

*The story still intrigues me even after all the delays.
*Free Radical have a great reputation
*and finally an asymmetric shooter... Balance doesn't mean good.

So I for one will pick it up.

I really liked the demo, decent visuals, smart A.I, game play intriguing, and the story seems very thought out. Day one buy for me.

In all honestly though a *TURD*

on the real...the haze demo suck A$$

The Closing5831d ago (Edited 5831d ago )

This demo was so bad I was shocked they even put it out. Average shooter with poor graphics, extremely cheesy dialogue, static environment that really made me feel like I was playing an N64 game, which is sad considering that seems to be the time they were at their peak, which they never surpassed. Everyone's going on about the story, which will also be extremely predictable most likely. If the demo is any indication of what the game is going to be like I foresee poor sales, and reviews. With the so far delivered upon promises of upcoming fps that are trying to push limits such as Killzone 2 with it's stunning graphics/style, Far Cry 2 with its physics/ smart AI, and Resistance 2 with it's huge multiplayer, I think people can wait out Haze aka Turok on Nector.

poopsack5831d ago

Turok on Nector

Never heard u use that one before.

The Closing5831d ago

Yeah, well before this I was a semi profession boxer.

BLUR1115831d ago

yea, the graphics were not that good and god was the dialogue was the most cheesy. what a let down. but the multiplayer should be pretty good

prowiew5831d ago

From the first time I saw a picture of the game, I knew it would suck

avacadosnorkel5830d ago

I think is funny because it's cheesy and meant to be cheesy. Just like the boxer pilot who let you know he was a boxer and then starts shaking right before he dies, that's funny stuff.

You obviously don't watch B movies or cheesy sci-fi because while I was playing the demo I thought it was classic.

The Closing5830d ago (Edited 5830d ago )

You obviously haven't seen the videos where your team mates are constantly spouting of high pitched annoying one liners the entire game. Yeah, just bad.

It's like they're trying a little too hard, but don't have a talented enough writer to pull it off without sounding completely trite, and cliche in all the wrong ways.

I would have preferred a head to head multi experience but the coop mode was ok...
My issue: not being able to skip cut scenes in coop >_<

Relcom5831d ago

Multiplayer will tell me if this is getting traded in or not. Free Radical geniuses behind Goldeneye means i have lots of faith

nomad1175831d ago

I love this game I don't care what anyone says this is a day one buy for me. I for one loved the demo and thought it was great to play haze after I've been waiting for so long to play it. This game is going to be a lot of fun. The gameplay just wows me

give it a try

just don't overdose

Top 10 Bad Games by Good Studios

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "When shopping for new video games you can often trust the name publisher or developer on the box to be an indication of the quality of the game. Names like Nintendo, Square Enix, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Capcom, Xbox Game Studios and Sega are world famous because they helped shape the industry by releasing some of the most defining video games of all time. Though sometimes even these great gaming houses stumble and put out a stinker."

Splatterhouse remake . Loved the og’s at the arcade growing up . Hell the best thing about the remake was the og,s were included . And left alive by Square . That game had so much potential , but the gameplay was worse horrendous .

Game-ur1393d ago

once Great studios getting destroyed is actually common. happened with ND and Last of Us2, Bioware and Mass Effect Andromeda/Anthem, Bungle and Destiny .

BeRich2331394d ago

Fuse should have been on that list (Insomniac Games)

Yui_Suzumiya1394d ago

Splatterhouse remake kicked ass

merryja1394d ago

I personally don't like these games.

East76lands1394d ago

I'm pretty much certain that any Sonic game that comes out will be terrible, I've not enjoyed one since the original side-scrolling days of the MegaDrive.

HarryMasonHerpderp1393d ago

Then you might like a recent sonic "sonic mania".

jaymacx1393d ago

For this Topic it says Good Studios that make bad games. Sonic Team hasn't been good in years.
