Rayman Legends, a much anticipated, critically acclaimed 2D platformer presented to us by the folks over at Ubisoft, was released this week. This game was a fun journey and an impressive display of the Rayman franchise. As we know Nintendo also has a pretty popular franchise, Super Mario. Super Mario has been around for years; Super Mario Bros. being another widely popular platform game. Super Mario Bros. is the leader of the platform genre. It has made nearly all games in this genre seem like a copy however when you look into the small details of Rayman Legends (besides the unlockable Mario and Luigi costume for Wii U owners) you might see more similarities than what was originally thought.
A little-known game Puppeteer is on this list for the best PS3 platformers.
Puppeteer is really good. Nobody played it because it came out right before PS4 came out. When I went to pick up Puppeteer from GameStop some people were trading in their old consoles for PS4 preorder.
Ubisoft barely have a leg to stand on lately, so do they need to crack open the vaults and return platforming royalty to glory for some goodwill?
We need Rayman 4, they could make a great platformer game if they wanted. With the open hub levels and the like.
Better than relying on Rabbids and Assassins Creed all the time
Yes..but I am sure it won't be the Rayman game fans want. Not from the company that is Ubisoft today.
Ancel is retired from games. His hoodlum/rabbid team are doing their own thing. It would not be the same if Ubisoft did.
Experience points, skill trees to fill up, level gating, endless menial tasks and side quests, constantly scrounging for resources. Always having to upgrade your gear. A.KA. "The Ubisoft effect".
No thanks, don't ruin Rayman's legacy.
A decade on from Rayman Legends' release, it remains a near perfect platformer, so what happened to Rayman? Will we ever see another sequel?
lol that’s pretty true. I wonder if it was intentional by Ubisoft in any way. Not a copy but almost a tribute to Mario.
Good read... sounds like an awesome game IMO.
For me the big problem with mario is the level design and creativity. In my opinion, the 2d mario games lack both
Rayman origins (and legends which Im playing right now =D ) was more fun, more challange, better music, graphics, better control, ...
I enjoy 2d mario games enough, but if someone asks, im gonna pick rayman origins or legends.
(also, in the article, they misspelled the title to Ralyman Legends XD )
Can't wait to pick this up, just waiting for that WiiU price drop
