Forza 5 director on Day 1 download: 'It depends on what you define as finishing'

Joystiq: "According to a previous report, to complete the career mode in Forza Motorsport 5 players will need a Day 1 download. That's based on prior comments made by Turn 10 Studios Creative Director Dan Greenawalt, who happens to be here at Gamescom. We are too, so we caught up with Greenawalt and asked him to clarify just how much players would miss out on without the Day 1 data." (Forza Motorsport 5, Xbox One)

Anyone who turns this into a negative is a clear cut FANBOY!

It's pretty simple and pretty amazing what they are doing!

1. The game is complete, tracks, cars, career mode, etc...Day 1 no download.

2. They have been working tirelessly to add new content up till the last minute...What that you get EXTRA tracks, cars, etc...FOR FREE and all you need to do is download it DAY 1.

Who can find a complaint about that? Oh, you don't have internet? You don't know anyone who has internet? You can't take your console to a starbucks or any place that has free wifi and download the EXTRA content? You can't take your console to a friends house to download the EXTRA content? many places like Best buy are doing it as a service for FREE!

Anyone who can find something to bi#$H about with this is just sad. It's the same thing they did with the last Forza and no one complained.

Ok, first, relax. Nobody even said anything yet and you're going crazy. But let me understand. If you don't download it on the first day, then you won't get the extra stuff?

Have you ever played Forza before ?

They often, at random times throughout the games lifecycle, will release free cars and tracks, mostly cars.

If you have xbox live now, you can download them for free.

It's not new for anybody who has had an xbox 360 over the past 6-7 years.
Puppy_Farts  +   647d ago
I haven't disagreed or agreed, but I couldn't tell if you were joking around about taking your console to a Starbucks to download free sh*t.

You need to calm down. It's my personal preference, and belief that I do not buy games that I perceive as unfinished. Doesn't matter what they tell me or what excuses they give, if I think it's unfinished, then no buy.
NextGen24Gamer  +   647d ago
It's called constantly evolving & growing...Not Unfinished. Is it a concept to complex to grasp?

The download is not needed to completely enjoy the game. It's EXTRA stuff that they are adding up to the time of release. And like the previous Forzas they have a history of offering free cars deep into the life of the game.

Who complains about free extra stuff? LOL...
sincitysir1  +   647d ago
Well to be fair people were saying guerrilla games giving free maps was desperate. Is it now ok to get free stuff from devs? Yes? I thought so. By the way I think this is great.

I don't know, can I take my Xbox one to a Starbucks and download the content?

I guess they might let me wheel it in plug it in, plug in a monitor of some sort and leech off of their internet and electricity while drinking the coffee I picked up along the way from McDonald's...
sincitysir1  +   647d ago
Hahah I like that McDonald's jab. It stung. Bubble up.
sincitysir1  +   647d ago
Nice jab! Bubble up!
OrangePowerz  +   647d ago
It's not extra free content it's stuff they couldn't finish on time.

I would've been mad in the past, but we live in a ever-growing digital age.

Being in a rural area, I'm trying to find the best solution for a fast internet solution since Time Warner Cable is still not available in my area, but I'm postitive satellite will at least work.

Forza 4 still had some much, I'm still not through career mode and I've preordered Forza 5 regardless.
tokugawa  +   647d ago
satellite will work. but the ping will mean that on-line multiplayer is out of the question
evilbart  +   647d ago
Wow calm down man
XboxFun  +   647d ago
Why is this even news? We have had many, MANY games released with day one downloads. Keep moving folks, nothing to see here.
GryestOfBluSkies  +   647d ago
and probably many more to come. im not a fan of it, but nothing we can do about it
Ron_Danger  +   647d ago
Well it is a problem for people that don't have Internet or a slow connection but I recently read a report where if you don't have a connection you can just go to a Starbucks and use their WiFi. Here's the link:

Godmars290  +   647d ago
Really not seeing it as a good idea for people to lug around a $500 system, plus a TV, to a public area. Not get mugged or expect to be allowed to use multiple outlets.

Hell, if anything upon hearing about this Starbucks may very well charge you for having to do all that.

speak English please.
tuglu_pati  +   647d ago
Typical american response! Then they wonder why they get stereotyped. You know the world is huge and English is not every ones native language right?
jc48573  +   647d ago
every now and then when we have a rep come in to talk about their product/service like dlc and whatnot, I just can't help but feel they are taking you in a merry go around with jumble mumble that simply adds more to the confusion to the answer the inquirer is asking.

Then i misunderstood what you were trying to say. Sorry... :/

It's cool.
KwietStorm  +   647d ago
Did you know sentences start with a capital letter?
Godmars290  +   647d ago
He can't because its double speak.

He's being asked do you need the day-one DLC to finish the career mode, and he's saying its mostly additional content, which in this day and age you get regardless. Basically dodging the question.

Its not really going to matter to anyone internet, but if you don't, like with someone who's already going to have to go to extra lengths for now the one-time online registration for the XB1, you're not getting the full game. Unless you again go to extra lengths.

He and MS are basically talking to the general market, but in reality they're pretty oblivious of the offline segment.
