Games That Garnered Too Much Praise This Generation

Many games have been released this generation. A number of them were wrongly praised critically and commercially despite problems with each. (Dishonored, Gears of War, Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, PC, PS3, Resistance 3, Xbox 360)

good list. dishonored was over hyped to no end by gamestop and every gaming media out there and it was decent at best. but people talked like it was the 2nd coming of games. mgs4 is just a talkig point for fanboys. inno way does it compare to any of the previous mgs games. i dont understand resistance 3 being n here though. it didn't get that much praise. i'd replace it with borderlands.

Gears and MGS4 DEFINED this generation for their respective consoles. The others are arguable, but the list fails on those two selections alone.

MGS4 did not define the generation. At this point, the franchise is almost exclusively revered for it's cinematic narrative. So in that way, MGS4 succeeded in SPITE of it's gaming roots.

I can honestly say that I never hear anyone raving about how fun the game was to play. All I ever hear is how much someone cried when Snake walked through the microwave...

I, literally, only agree with Dishonoured on that list. Dishnoured is a game I struggled to finish amd I really did not find it a rewarding experience. In fact, it was boring. I had to play it in 30 minute to 1 hour sessions because, quite simply, anything more was just too much.

Tbe rest though? I cannot agree with.

Not a list I'd entirely agree with. I mean, Resistance 3? Really? The absence of GTAIV is quite remarkable also. The reasoning's there, though, however much I disagree with the conclusions.
