This is great, I'm really liking the price tag for the PS3 version plus the first month free trial before having to commit to that subscription fee.

Only problem I'm seeing now is that a PS4 version is inevitable, with it having such a close architecture to the PC a port should be really easy and fast.

I guess I could just get it twice, buy the PS3 version and play that till a PS4 version is announced and released, an then transfer my charter over if I'm still playing by then.

Either way this is good news and it looks good, I love exploring.

Just FYI there's a preorder discount on GMG already for the game ($24 for standard edition, $48 for digital collectors edition). For those planning to play it on the PC anyways vs PS3.

Which kinda makes the PS3 MSRP of $40 kinda lame. Anyways key thing is if its worth the $13 subscription fee.

Very tempted for this, can anyone tell me the monthly fee on this?.
Abriael  +   464d ago
Just added it to the article alongside full pricing info. $12.99

PS3's final games are Great: GT6, Last of Us, Beyond and now FF XIV.

That sure is a hell of a swan song...

...hold on a minute. How can you say the same is great when 1) its not even out yet. And 2) the first one blew so bad they had to redo it. What makes it so great?
Grlpants  +   464d ago
Are we seriously having this conversation? Early previews of the new game are saying that this is the game we should have gotten the first time around. It also "blew" when it launched and got better and better throughout the months. By that time it's reputation was ruined and no one wanted to give it a second shot. Which is why a reboot was needed.

I just want the art book. Maybe it'll be available separately.

Goin after that collector's edition!

for the first time ever the American box art of a Final Fantasy game is better than the European box art. it's so beautiful.

and I'm sure the art book is amazing, I want it.

if it's really good I'll try and free up some time and get the game next year.

I'm a little surprised at the 40 dollar price tag for ps3. It's not like Square to sell anything less than the very maximum price. Then again, maybe this is the start of a new era for a once beloved company!
Lucreto  +   464d ago
Well they will be collection a fee every month for you to play it so a few quid off won't really matter.
Snarkasaur  +   464d ago
Sure, but monthly fees have never stopped most MMO publishers from charging the full 60 bucks! Then again this is a re-release of a game, so that might have something to do with it.
Lucreto  +   464d ago
I would love to play the game but with work and all I might only get a few hours in a week. Spending €10.99 a month and only getting 7-8 hours out of it is wasteful for me.

What happens if a huge game comes out mid month. People would either not pay the subscription that month but less likely just abandon the game leaving the subscription to expire and never go back. With a Pay as you go option they can play for those two weeks, play the new game and say have another 8 hours left on FF XIV and go back to it and possibly renew it.

agreed! im sure it could become more profitable doing that way to as you would keep the people who would get it anyway, but also help encourage those with less free time to give it a go.

I am glad I had the pc original. Now I get the pc version of realm reborn free. Prevents me from buying the ps3 collectors edition like I planned to. Hopefully a PS4 version isn't far behind. I will have it if it happens.
FamilyGuy  +   463d ago
Hopefully they announce something about a PS4 version at E3.

Finally!!!!!!!!!! My fanboy flames are rekindling.

Does anyone know if this game has anything in common with final fantasy 11? I really loved that game and if this game can recapture some of that nostalgia than I'm all in.

It's alot more like XI then when it first came out. They even added jobs from XI.
