Edge : God of War: Ascension Review

This has been a long generation for Sony, but a quiet one for Kratos. Nathan Drake has fronted an entire trilogy on PS3 and Assassin’s Creed has settled into an annual cycle, but this is only the second God Of War game on the console, with a three-year gap between the pair. While that avoids familiarity breeding contempt, it also means developer Sony Santa Monica has had fewer chances to recognise that several elements of the God Of War template could do with modernisation. Much of what you’ll find in Ascension’s singleplayer is unchanged from the eight-year-old PS2 original. QTEs – hopefully dubbed ‘context-sensitive actions’ – are everywhere. Rather than celebrate its Greek mythological setting, Ascension fixates on ultraviolence and bare breasts. Bump into one of the many invisible walls and Kratos just runs on the spot. (God of War: Ascension, PS3) 7/10

Something about Edge reviews are always off. They tend to focus on past games instead of the game at hand. How many references do they have to make about past games. It felt more like a nit picking article than a actual review. Not arguing with the score but Edge writes horrible reviews as a whole.

You guys are funny. Disagrees. Reread up the heading up top. Now tell me how many times they brought up other games. Now how how many negative references are there towards the staple of the game modernisation, qte's, celebrating greek myth, and running into a wall. How negative can you be in one paragraph? This reviewer could not let the game stand on its own merits. A game review should be based on the some of its parts. Not against other games. Not to mention only certain games get held to this standard. Reviewers write like high schoolers.

Edge did gave the last Uncharted game a 9 and the first LBP a 10. How are they bias against the PS3?

Maybe somebody lied to them and told them it was a multiplat. Or maybe they were held at gun point. Or some other reasoning that allows people to continue believing Edge is biased.

Because you mentioned the same two game reviews that everyone states when the subject of "edge" reviews being biased comes up is very telling that they are, in fact a site that needs to be severly scrutinized by a gamer who is looking for a truly "non-biased" score. Look at their other scores for ps3 games vs. 360 games. Then come back here and give gamers a reason to trust what edge has to say.
