Ni No Kuni review gets 9/10 in Official PlayStation Magazine, “pure, sweet RPG nectar”

OPM: Our man Phil was mightily impressive by the gorgeous JRPG, awarding Level 5's uniquely beautiful adventure 9/10. Here's a wee gushing excerpt to give you a flavour of what to expect from the full review next week...

"Just as the best kids movies have adults clasping their hands together in delight, Ni No Kuni is blessed with a surplus of charisma that can hold the most joyless, cynical audience in its charms." (Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, PS3, Xbox 360)

If I concentrate really hard, maybe I can catapult my consciousness into the near future.

Though the resulting paradox would probably trigger the collapse of the universe.....

......Still, totally worth it.

These are the reviews so far:

RPGLand 10
http://rpgland.com/games/re...
PSN Lifestyle 10
http://www.playstationlifes...
Gamepro Germany 93%
(can't find it is somewhere here on N4G)
Finnish pelit magazine gave it 89% .
(saw it on a forum)
Game Informer 7
(magazine so i just saw it on a forum)
Meh Game Informer nitpicking to the max, too few save points and the reviewer liked only Drippy as character, also said that deaths was too punishing, etc ... stupidity imo, but nitpicking on jrpg is expected sadly :(

Still awesome reviews and i can't wait :)

Shame about that 7. But I guess a 7 is still a good score.

Don't forget Gamemasters UK gave it an overall score of 95/100
Catoplepas  +   967d ago
I'm guessing Game Informer broke out their stock COD reviewer.

Typical complaints from that type of gamer. No hand holding, a semblance of a challenge, etcetera.
Ezz2013  +   967d ago
i'm not saying you are wrong or anything
but gameInformer review
i can't find it any where
can you give a link ?!

Thanks!

A 7 is still good , wonder what the main sites will give it! The ign chap seemed impressed on the podcast and was writing the review so we will see
keiichimorisato98  +   964d ago
one of the complaints is that the game feels too old school... i was thinking wy complain about how JRPG's have been down hill in recent years (part of that problem is that they are trying to change their image and westernize) and when a JRPG actually delivers now its too old school.
Julie  +   967d ago
Oh ya and that 95/100 too , i wish i could find the wizard's edition :(

Yes Catoplepas he also complained about the AI lol , all points as the reviewer not grasping the battle system , i bet he didn't even realize he could swap between all characters and imajinns.
Also Game Informer gave Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door a 6,7 so don't even bother with that crap lol!

Can't wait for this one

I would say this game will end up being an almost AAA on metacritic. Even if it was it would be a 90. I can see some ppl getting really nitpicky with it.
wynams  +   967d ago
Heard buzz on this, but at 46 years young I do not want to roleplay a child. Why must most jRPGs do this?
r21  +   966d ago
Most JRPGs force you to play as a teen or a young adult cause the japanese audience eat those kinds of protagonists up, I assume. Ni No Kuni however breaks away by using a kid to appeal not only to the japanese audience but to everyone else in the world.

Besides, who hasnt been a kid and imagined going off to magical worlds ;)
