Wanna See The Evolution of the First Person Shooter? There’s An Infographic For That

Geek Binge: Over the past 14 days, two of the highest profile video games of the year have been released: Halo 4 and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Both of these games are selling like hot cakes, as fans of each respective franchise show’s their love in the usual fashion—with their hard earned dollar. Yes, to say the First Person Shooter genre is succeeding is an understatement—it’s the freaking juggernaut of the entire industry. The genre’s gotten so big, it might be hard to remember exactly where it began in the first place. Thankfully, we’re here to help with a handy dandy infographic (Culture)

A bit disappointed that they excluded the FPS games that emphasized horror and/or stealth like SystemShock, Thief, FEAR and Stalker.

WTF no F.E.A.R, Stalker. And it would've been better if they had listed the FPS that pushed the genre.

I'm disappointed all the "evolution" of gaming videos/articles I've seen (as the comes closer to current time) only goes to 3D games and no 2D games. (Vanillaware games, KOF XIII, BlazBlue, etc.)

I dont like most of these generic fps games
most apply too much emphasis on "ONE MAN ARMY!"

Where's Perfect Dark???

Looking at the last seven years of the infographic it appears to me that evolution of the FPS is slowing down.
