Double Dragon Neon Review | PixelPerfectGaming

Billy and Jimmy Lee are back in this re-imagining of Technos’ side-scrolling beat-em-up classic, Double Dragon. Billy’s girlfriend, Marion, has been kidnapped by thugs outside his garage and it’s your job to rescue her from Skullmageddon and his corrupt gang of hooligans.

Double Dragon Neon, while a re-imagining of the original Double Dragon, does a fair job of replicating the core mechanics of the original game. There’s plenty of enemies to pummel as you spend the first two levels cleaning the streets in a familiar urban setting. Later levels are a drastic departure from the series as Billy and Jimmy Lee take on thugs, robotic probes, and even alien creatures in a space station-like Japanese tower called the ‘Space Lair’.

"Double Dragon Neon, while a re-imagining of the original Double Dragon, does a fair job of replicating the core mechanics of the original game."

Couldn't be more wrong really, outside of Marion being punched and kidnapped and one or two of the music tracks in the game the game shares no ressembalance to any DD game that has come before it.

Remove the music and skip the opening and put it in front of someone without telling them what it is and i'd say its a safe bet that no one would relate it to double dragon.

Gonna have to disagree with you. I spent a LOT of time and money playing Double Dragon at the pool hall (and on nintendo when it came out) and this really takes me back.

I grew up in the arcades playing Double Dragon and i've played pretty much every DD game about on various platforms. This one is by far, the worst.

The Gameboy Advance was the last DD game to take the original game, improve it in every way possible and hold onto what made the original so great.

This remake or whatever it is just has the name to cash in on nostalgia junkies like me. Its not a bad game, but its about as far removed from a DD game as it could possibly be.

Best Buy Opens Preorders for Limited Run Switch Games: TMNT, Double Dragon, and More

"Digital games are more convenient than physical games, and usually cheaper too. Still, there's something about collecting physical games that appeals to many gamers. Preordering limited physical editions directly from boutique labels is always an option, but sometimes retailers offer the same editions for a better price. That's certainly the case with Best Buy, which currently has 14 Nintendo Switch titles from Limited Run up for preorder, including TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, Double Dragon Neon, and several more co-op hits," says Co-Optimus.

The original Double Dragon from the Arcades about 30 odd years ago was amazing at the time, i played Double Dragon Neon not long ago and it had totally lost all of its appeal, its either Double Dragon isnt that good anymore or Neon is a crap representative of the original..
