Review – SPEEDX 3D | NintendoDude

SPEEDX 3D is a “tunnel racer” for the eShop that isn’t really a “racing” game at all. Instead, it’s a colorful, hypnotizing trip through maze filled tunnels that morph into winding roads and back onto the outside of twisting tubes. The game thrusts you forward at a constant rate – no accelerator or brakes – with plenty of obstacles ahead of you. As you progress through stages, the acceleration increases and more obstacles fill the screen. The ultimate objective is to survive to the end of each stage, and other modes offer endless runs where your goal is simply to amass the highest score possible.

Wiiloveit.com: SpeedX 3D - 3DS Download Review

"Used ineffectively, visual trickery can actually alienate perceptive consumers who, thanks to past experiences, can tell when they're being cheated into shallow delivery. And so, I wondered if SpeedX 3D would make itself out to be culprit by failing to use a more genuine pull device. I'm a bit relieved the game didn't play to an illusion as a means of blindsiding players, but it ultimately means that instead of seeing it for what it is, we appropriately see right through it." -- Wiiloveit.com
