New Images from Perfect Dark Zero's defunct Xbox version emerge

Eurogamer- New images have emerged from an early version of Perfect Dark Zero slated for the Xbox.

Before Perfect Dark Zero was an Xbox 360 launch title, it was in development for the GameCube. Then Microsoft acquired Rare in 2002 and it became an Xbox game with a decidedly different look for its lithe protagonist. It then went dark for awhile as it was substantially redesigned into an Xbox 360 launch title. (Perfect Dark Zero, Xbox)

*sigh* If the only Rare hadn't switched to Xbox at the time and stuck with the Gamecube... Perfect Dark Zero might have been a wonderful game. :\

PDZ at launch was some of the most fun I've had this entire gen. "Might have been a wonderful game"? Opinions are opinions, I loved it.

People should stop complaining about Rare being owned by Microsoft. I know its depressing what has become of them, stop beating the dead horse.

Here's hoping they kick off the Xbox 720 like they did the Xbox 360. The first couple of years the Xbox 360 had some amazing Rare offerings. Viva Pinata, Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo Elements Of Power.

From their hiring practices, it looks like they are working on a new first person shooter. Would love a reboot of Perfect Dark.

I'll never understand the love for this game. I tried it on the N64 and couldn't get into it (I think I ended up going back CounterStrike after maybe a couple of hours with the first one). I bought it on the 360 and just couldn't get into it. And I wanted to like it, I really did, but ultimately I just don't understand why people loved this game so much. Everything about it I just found boring. There were much better shooters available on the 360, even at launch. COD2, Condemned, even King Kong was more enjoyable for me.

Perfect Dark on the N64 was a classic imo. I never tried Zero though.

What I don't understand is the love for viva pinata...

Perfect Dark 64 is one of the best FPS's ever made. Probably the only MP game I played as much as Mariokart.

PDZ is one of my biggest disappointments ever. I suppose the game isnt terrible, its just PD64 set the bar so high and PDZ wasnt even close.

Always fascinating to see stuff from cancelled videogames. Dinosaur Planet.. Sonic Xtreme.. Earthbound 64.. Gunvalkyrie for Dreamcast.. what could have been!
