I hope it is not true I have held off from playing the PC version as I saw a console release.

There's no official info about it.
Maybe they meant april fools joke by RED team:
http://www.thewitcher.com/f...

yoshiroaka5889d ago

Yea me too.
The witcher looks like a great game but my poor PC is way too weak to play it at a decent level.
Was really looking forward to getting it on a console.
=(.

No Way5889d ago

Haha. I'm in the same position as you..
My computer won't play the game at at decent speed.

It always slows down while I'm fighting.. then I die. =(

M337ING5890d ago

Sweet, another franchise that PC gamers can call their own.

Ghoul5889d ago

... leave gaming and never come back.

so its a good thing alot of people miss out on a great game ?

morganfell5889d ago (Edited 5889d ago )

A truly anti gaming opinion. I have played The Witcher since it launched and have the Uncensored Euro Enhanced version as well. Best RPG when it came out.

But I was still looking forward to see what they added for consoles. That said this is still a rumor and should have been marked as such time until official confirmation is received.

The site was just updated 3 days ago and CDProjekt is still hiring.

Ghoul5889d ago

agree morgan, so far this is nothing bad a "bad" rumor. and i highly doubt they have cancled it, its a awesome game that would attract many consoles gamers.

*sits back and waits*

Hildor_muthafo5889d ago

This is horrible news for the developer.. they're trying to sell their game to as many ppl as possible.

HWG5889d ago

I have to agree with Ghoul on this,

To not allow people to experience the wonderful story-telling extravaganza that is The Witcher is not only selfish thinking, but total ignorance. The Witcher did NOT do well in sales, and I want more Witcher! So I'm all for a PC to Console port ( Not the other way around mind you. ) to bring new audiences to this marvelous world of adult fantasy.

The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf footage surfaces

Some footage from the canceled console version of The Witcher has surfaced over on YouTube, and it really makes you ache for what could have been.

NYC_Gamer5508d ago

its ashame that us console owners wont be able to enjoy :(

Raf1k15508d ago

It'll run pretty well on most modern PCs and it's prett cheap now so it's worth picking up.

I see a lot of 3rd person view footage for these games. Am I the only one who played it using the top down view?

Darkfocus5507d ago

wait there was a top down view for the witcher? 8/ I played through the whole game without realizing that.

morganfell5507d ago (Edited 5507d ago )

It isn't top down unless someone added a mod. You can change views on the fly with Over the Shoulder, Low Isometric, and High Isometric.

Raf1k15507d ago

Well, it's as mroganfell says.
What I meant was high isometric but I said top down since it's basically more of a birds eye view since isometric kind of implies it's a fixed isometric view when in fact you could rotate the camera angle. Sorry for the confusion.

Darkstorn5507d ago (Edited 5507d ago )

@raf-
This is not footage from the original Witcher.

I loved the first Witcher, but I doubt my 256mb video card will be able to handle The Witcher 2. Time to upgrade...

Raf1k15507d ago

Yeah I know but all the footage of Witcher games I've seen (this one, the actual Witcher game that was released and the sequal that's in the works) have been shown using this view.

sid4gamerfreak5507d ago (Edited 5507d ago )

the videos taken off....cant see it....

loved the first witcher btw...

MR LOOKINGBILL5508d ago

i don't know if my pc will run it ..but im definitely interested in this game. The PC footage i've seen blows this away.

voice_of_ reason5507d ago

That's because the pc footage you've seen that "blows this away" is from the Witcher 2. This is not the Witcher 2, just a port of the original that never happened.

Julie5508d ago (Edited 5508d ago )

Video no longer available :(

Anyone knows where can i find the vid? i really wish to see it :)

hassi945507d ago (Edited 5507d ago )

So I never knew it was cancelled :/ At least I'll be getting a moderately good gaming PC in a few weeks so I'll probably pick it up for that.

How do you think a 2.6gHz AMD Athlon II X4, 4GB RAM and a ATI Radeon 5750 will do on this?

TheIneffableBob5507d ago

I ran the game maxed out on a 7900 GT, so I think you'll be fine.

Xof5507d ago

As fun as it would have been to play the Witcher with a better, more action-oriented combat system, I'm much happier that we're getting a whole new game (Witcher II) instead.

lbartley5507d ago

White Wolf wasn't even being made by CD Proket. We're not getting Witcher 2 INSTEAD, that was coming anyway. This was cancelled, along with other Widesceen Games projects, because apparently they can't manage to actually produce anything, so CDP pulled the plug.

The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf still being "considered"

VG247: CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the canceled console version of the original Witcher is still being "considered"."It definitely is considered. No particular plans though," said The Witcher 2 senior producer Tomak Gop, speaking with VG247.

BlackIceJoe5552d ago

Its to bad it does not sound like it really will happen. But as long as Witcher 2 comes out on the consoles that will be great.

Interview – The Witcher 2's senior producer, Tomek Gop

VG247: With CD Projekt having now formally announced The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings – along with nice assets to back it up – we grabbed some time with senior producer Tomek Gop to chat about the game's new engine, what's going on with The Witcher on consoles and what to expect from Geralt's sophomore release.

Letros5552d ago

"I remember that before release of The Witcher we got an opinion from ESRB saying that “the game contains really little violence compared to the amount of sex”, while at the same time PEGI was like “hey, the mature content in your game is so teen, you could easily spice it up a bit if you’d like”."

US vs EU, too funny.
