Review: 'Sims 4' Aspires to Greatness and Fails | ABC News

ABC News: I knew I'd have issues with "The Sims 4" the moment I realized it wasn't possible to buy a dishwasher for the fabulous couple I'd created to live their virtual little lives to the fullest in Oasis Springs, one of the game's two idyllic neighborhoods. The cost wasn't a concern. I was flush with Simoleons — the game's goofy currency — from selling their novels and masterpieces in the mail.

I've actually been having quite a lot of fun on the new Sims.

I've heard it's not bad but the problem is they removed a lot of features that were in the previous version.

I've also heard that many of the removed features are going to be sold as DLC later.

How do you feel about getting a stripped down game with improved graphics that to get a similar experience to prior sims games you're going to have to pay more for?

On amazon, this game got two stars lol

I have a hard time believing this site reviewed the ENTIRE game in the limited hands-on time they've had with it. Have they really experienced enough aspects of it to give it a score?

IN no way have they had a chance to play enough of the game to give it a valid score. I've played quite a bit since launch yesterday and have seen hardly anything of what's on offer.

That's what happens when publishers don't give reviewers the review code for their game far enough in advance, reviewers will rush their review in order to publish it close to the launch date of said game. That and the fact that they actually removed a lot of features to sell as DLC later is sickening. They deserve the low score.

Also, reviewers don't need to play through the entire game to get a good judgement of the content that is available. The only problem with the review is that it doesn't go into enough detail about the game itself.

Just read Metacritic reviews and you'll see why there weren't any review copies being sent to reviewers.
