I just wonder on a 5" screen if you can really see much difference on 1080p vs 720p. I really doubt it, but the numbers sound good anyway.

The price decrease down to $250 on newegg is pretty nice though.

Maxor3796d ago

The screen is only 720p. What they're talking about is 1080p streaming to your TV.

Now I may actually want to get one.

Thats an amazing option and since it relies on your PC horse power(which is upgradable) This will never go out dated.

Pc gets outdated too you know

Fireseed3796d ago

Yeah that's when you replace parts... Just like I plan on replacing my Nvidia Quadro K2000D,

@2pacalypsenow

What i ment is the Shield device wont get outdated, it can be relevant even 10 years into its life time which is commendable as long as you have a PC thats capapble of 1080p gaming.

Hell due to the ways games have been developed in the last 7 years PC hardware doesnt need much upgrades at all.

That's a nice and welcome update.

PS Vita does it at 720p (No, it's not downscale to 540p, you're confusing yourself with the native resolution of the Vita games and the screen format.)

You can watch movies and videos in HD 720p or 1080p 30fps, since Streaming doesn't require much power from the system, it is at 720p.

Ofc you can see a big difference , just check out my utube channel of the uploaded videos. Look at some of the new recorded in 1080p comparring the older 720p video i did when i started. 1080p are waaay crispier quality comparred tp the 720p blurry one mate.

kB03795d ago

This is relavant only when it comes to Native Resolution.

If you screen is 1080p and you run 720p then yes 1080p is way cripier than 720p.

Also don't forget that screen size matter as well. If you have a 24" 1080p screen and a 5 inch 720p screen, chances are the 720p will still look more crisp. (ofc depending on PPI, which i didn' do the math)

So this is what it comes down to, PPI. Not just resolution.

Nvidia Shield is a 720p Native Display device, unless it output onto a TV that's 1080p I doubt u'll see a difference, BUT 60 fps is key here!

SonyNGP3796d ago

That's pretty impressive.

SirDjss3796d ago

Buuuhuuu ,i want this for my amd card, are you listening AMD. ;)

ninjahunter3796d ago

Well, after 6 years, i think its about time to upgrade haha.
Damn you NVIDIA 6xx series and your awesome features!

biglittlesps3795d ago

but this does not support every game, only limited games are available.

Maxor3795d ago

Support is totally irrelevant. All Steam games work, BF 4 works, AC 4 works. Of course Diablo, Starcraft and Rome Total War isn't going to be viable because you can't play those with a gamepad.
