Soapbox: Stop Sobbing Over Retail Releases and Embrace PS4's Smaller Titles

Push Square: "I tend to hate change. I’m the kind of curmudgeonly so-and-so that gets bent out of shape when the local supermarket stops stocking a certain type of biscuit and coerces me into buying something other than chocolate chip digestives and own brand custard creams. It’s not that I don’t like trying new things, I just get comfortable with the things that I like – and that expands to games. Before the announcement of the PlayStation 4, for example, I was terrified that Sony was going to significantly change the layout of its controller. I’d heard rumours prior to February’s big coming out event that the DualShock 3 was on the chopping block, and I had nightmares of asymmetrical analogue sticks right up until images of the revamped peripheral leaked. Similarly, I was one of the vocal minority planting pitchforks outside of Sucker Punch’s office when it temporarily decided that skin headed hero Cole MacGrath should look like the kind of model that would appear in a department store’s Christmas commercial. Sometimes, though, change creeps up on you."

I was will those who said that M$ seemed unrepaired when they could not get any 2 of their PR guys to agree on what the X1 policies should be. Fast forward to this week, and it looks just as bad for Sony or even worse. Sony does not have a competitive launch exclusive set of games ready for PS4 launch. They have KillZone, Knack, and Octadad, along with a few other small, downloadable titles. I can't believed that was planed.

Goku7813840d ago

No where near as bad, but pushing drive club back will suck for some people. Replacing it with contrast was dumb. How many people are jumping up and down for that game?

Smoovekid3840d ago

No one is talking about Microsoft.

Hicken3840d ago

That was literally irrelevant.

Delaying one game is NOWHERE near as bad as not having your PR guys on the same page.

As far as "competitive launch titles," I could say the same for the XB1, as the only thing that catches my eye isn't even a launch title, and will also be on PC and 360: Titanfall.

If you can't believe that the PS4's lineup wasn't "planned," how do you feel about the debacle that is and has been the XB1's launch thus far?

"..how do you feel about the debacle that is and has been the XB1's launch thus far?"

What debacle? All I see is great games at launch for the Xbox One, a variety of games too. Not just a FPS that is the only highest game on the list of pre-orders. Or do you mean the flame wars the SDF seem to blow up whenever an article about Ryse appears?

Not to mention a bunch of indie games that will also be on the PC like you have stated with Titanfall.

And since you don't own a 360 or a computer rig for Titanfall then I hope to see you on the battlefield riding a mech in Titanfall when it releases for Xbox One.

Edit:
By the way, looks like I was right about those free servers...so much for Google eh?

Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster Review – An Epic Tale Of Pixelated Portrayals

Gary Green said: We’re finding ourselves in a similar position with the Pixel Remaster edition of Final Fantasy IV as we were with Final Fantasy III since, once again, we’ve received a slightly upscaled, more vibrant port of the original game when there’s already an expanded 3D remake available. As such, we’re playing a game which, even after its long-awaited release, still lives very much in the shadow of its remake.

If only they didn't screw ps4 owners over with a physical release. I'd have ran through this in a heartbeat.

The first one I played, it was the one that made me fall in love with JRPGs and is still my favorite to this day. A masterpiece
