Square Enix and Sony Computer Entertainment collaborate to bring Diablo 3 to Japan

Square Enix has announced that they are collaborating with Sony Computer Entertainment to bring Diablo 3 to Japan on the PS3 in 2014. The game will be fully localized with Japanese text and voice, and will be published under Square Enix's Extreme Edges label which they use for western titles. Since this is a partnership with Sony, it looks like the Xbox360 version of Diablo 3 will not be released in the region.

Good news for the Japanese. I guess this means that Japan will also get Diablo III for the PS4. Great news.

Actually, everyone's ignoring the small details. This collaboration opens the door to future collaborations. We need more companies like these two to bring games to other countries.

I'm happy with what I'm seeing. Hopefully more companies look to collaborations in the future. This could be a good thing for the industry!

Sony currently has a team to collaborate with publishers to bring more games to the Playstation brand. Like Borderlands 2 is coming now on VITA. This also might be the work of that team :3

You get a "agree" from me as a "thank you for the info."

Seems like Sony has been on fire paying developers for region exclusivity.

The more people get to play this game on consoles, the better. Co-op in this game is amazing.

They need to do that again to release Final Fantasy VII Remake.

wasnt diablo a blizzard game? o_O

Majin-vegeta3887d ago

Yes but SE tends to localize games in Japan just like they localize Child's/Children ONline Daycare(COD).

Blizzard doesn't exactly have a foothold in the overseas, Japanese area. Tencent is not only localizing Call of Duty in Japan, they're making a whole new "game" with Call of Duty Online - COD's MMO-like game.

Great news. This would definitely attract a lot of gamers!

Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.

thorstein85d ago

I remember when the Nintendo Seal of Approval meant something.

All those games had to release without bugs.

shinoff218385d ago

Comebacks shouldnt be a thing in videogames. Just saying.

Diablo III - Still a Huge Draw in the Face of Diablo IV

Diablo III still works on modern PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and remains hugely playable a decade after initial release.

Palitera394d ago

Are you comparing a continuously improved 10+ years old masterpiece with the... beta of an unreleased game?

kevco33394d ago

Heh, yeah. There's no comparison in here! Its a commentary on how III is still very playable over a decade later.
