Sonic has had a pretty rough time adapting the world of modern video games. There has been some success for the blue hedgehog on the handheld systems and the last game in the series, Sonic Generations was a fun nostalgia ride. Only these games used to be held in high regard — back in the days of the Sega Genesis people would always argue about which was better, Sonic or Mario?
If you were to have that same conversation now, however, Mario would win by a landslide.
SEGA has announced Fearless: Year of Shadow, a campaign that celebrates Sonic the Hedgehog and his brooding acquaintance, Shadow.
GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.
The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."
Shame about Creative Assembly, they should have just been allowed to do an Alien Isolation sequel.
It was that garbage coh 3 that did them in only a special team can make a sequel worse in every way even though it was a 10 year gap and the same era.
Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive probably run on a shoe string budget so that fits into SEGA better lol
Gameplay footage of an initially rumored Sonic battle royale game has now appeared online. It is expected to launch later this year.
I still prefer sonic over Mario though. Sonic colours was fun and what this game needs to do is come to ps3/ps4
Poor Sonic - such a lost cause.
I love Sonic. He's an awesome character.
The only problem is the 3D passage. You got to admit, Sonic's speed is not adapted for 3D games. Well until Lost World.
The game fells right this time. I hope it will be a good game.
My last favorite sonic game was Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast. I'm ready for this though, it seems like a mix of Sonic and Super Mario Galaxy which could only be awesome! Problem is, I don't own the Wii U.
Sonic has been slowly getting better - hopefully this continues the trend!
