Do console games NEED to compete with mobile gaming? Completely different markets.

The article is a pile of trash anyway. Who in their right mind really believes that mobile games are so much fun that people don't need console games? Games like The Last Of Us are only available on consoles and nothing on a mobile device comes close. This article is on the threshold of troll territory.

Well clearly millions of people who play strictly on mobile phones for various reasons don't feel the need for those titles. I know, its crazy that people have differing tastes than you and me. I don't agree with that but some people don't go to theaters and watch nothing but action flicks without trying drama, horror, other genres. Or some people never buy music or go out of their way to have their own music collection just listen to the radio. It's reasonable to think a lot of people would be fine with mobile gaming only and not go out of their way to try more from the gaming medium. Doesn't make them less than us.

Also, did you not even read the whole article?

"However, don’t look for mobile gaming to completely overtake console gaming. There are some things that simply can’t be replicated on a smartphone. You can’t play Madden on a 52-inch screen with surround sound on a smartphone. You can’t play “Halo” or “Call of Duty” online on a smartphone. Even classic heroes like Mario and Link can’t be played anywhere but on a Nintendo-licensed console. For these reasons, console gaming is safe…"

Compete? Mobile gaming is targeted to a totally different audience.

Mobile gaming is targeted towards the more casual audience, hence why its bigger, while console gaming is target to the core gamers.

Sadly its a shame theres only 2 platforms left for core gaming, Microsoft and Sony.
