PlayStation 4 Games That Use The DualShock 4’s Touchpad

GOS: "One of the many features of the DualShock 4 is a clickable touchpad that rests on top of the controller. It offers a new way for gamers to interact with PS4 games, but we don’t know how many next generation titles will use this feature. All will be revealed soon enough, and here are four games we know of that will use the DualShock 4’s touchpad."

Battlefield 4 weapon menus... Fifa formation... invertory menus... sandbox maps including pinch zoom, patterns shortcuts for inventory items/magics...

It is not a stupid gimmick, is going to be awesome.

That's what people said about six axis.

Redrum0593934d ago (Edited 3934d ago )

and I still love the feature in games (mainly playstation exclusives) that do use it.

christrules00413934d ago

Come on now. Using six axis to arc a grenade in the Uncharted series is awesome or using it in a flying game that supports it.

browsing the internet like using the track pad is a good start.

I love the older PS2 games that use the analog stick to draw out a magic symbol. Now we can use the touchpad!

"It offers a new way for gamers to interact with PS4 games.." A touchpad in the middle of your controller? GTFO with the gimmicks $ony! *kidding* mkotechno got my agree 1rst!

Looking forward to how the touchpad will benefit gaming; same thing with the Kinect 2.0.

MasterCornholio3934d ago

I believe that most developers will use Kinect 2.0 for voice commands more than anything else. Which is why I question the use of Kinect with the console.

Outside of Kinect, this tech's bigger picture is 3D engineering and home automation,(outside of Microsoft, I forget the name of the two gentlemen behind it).
Think it's creepy to monitor your circulatory system? How about if your grandparent is having a heart attack alone in their home and a machine can contact emergency services? Very cool!

TheUndertaker853934d ago

Gotta ask...

If your grandparent has heart conditions like that, what in the great blue hell are they going to use Kinect for?

MasterCornholio3934d ago

I really liked how they were controlling the OWL using the track pad and the fact that the pad can function as an additional button. The only gimmick that I see in the controller is the light bar.

The light bar is a gimmick but it's kinda cool if you split screen and the PS Eye changes your screens so your in order. That way if you have a party and people are playing games you don't always have to reposition everytime to get the right view on what side your playing.

Furi173934d ago

Well the light bar is actually an oversized player number displayer:

P1. Blue (x)
P2. Red (circle)
P3. Green (triangle)
P4. Purple (square)

I've been confused from the beginning when everyone starting saying how it's just a gimmick. Maybe because I was already envisioning tons of ideas of what it could be used for in-game. At the very least, it adds a couple more buttons to the layout. The simplest being 1 - the clickable button, 2 - swipe up, 3 - swipe down, 4 - swipe left, 5 - swipe right. So, 5 extra buttons for the most basic usage in-game, without devs thinking indepth at all.

I love the addition of the touchpad personally. The devs also don't seem to view at as a silly gimmick, they're already thinking up deeper ways to utilize it, to immerse you into the game more.

Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster Review – An Epic Tale Of Pixelated Portrayals

Gary Green said: We’re finding ourselves in a similar position with the Pixel Remaster edition of Final Fantasy IV as we were with Final Fantasy III since, once again, we’ve received a slightly upscaled, more vibrant port of the original game when there’s already an expanded 3D remake available. As such, we’re playing a game which, even after its long-awaited release, still lives very much in the shadow of its remake.

If only they didn't screw ps4 owners over with a physical release. I'd have ran through this in a heartbeat.

The first one I played, it was the one that made me fall in love with JRPGs and is still my favorite to this day. A masterpiece
