Yeah, I don't get it either. The gaming public flip-flops more than Microsoft does.

wishingW3L4373d ago

because gamers are not a single entity. We all are from different countries, with different cultures and with extremely different ways of thinking.

Kingthrash3604373d ago

im beginning to think it ms employees thats doing tge partitioning....and maybe a few xbots.....I just can believe it would be actual gamers that want this.....I smell conspiracy.

Anthotis4373d ago

...extremely retarded ways of thinking(@xbox fansboys).

malokevi4373d ago

If you take a look, its clear that 80% of respondents are Sony Attack Force trolls.

This is #1 because a bunch of kids are bored on summer vaca. Write-off.

Too bad, because I actually genuinely signed it and gave my opinion, before I realized that I was being drowned out by a bunch of trolls who don't know when to quit.

nukeitall4373d ago

I support it so maybe I should sign it.

That's it, I'm signing it!

I hope this gains steam so we can introduce next generation gaming instead of relying on old fashion stone age physical discs.

BDSE4373d ago

70 million XBOX 360's sold, 12,000 sign a petition. You do the math.

solidjun54373d ago

"I support it so maybe I should sign it.

That's it, I'm signing it!"

You're probably the one who started it.

thechosenone4373d ago

I just signed it. LOL Lets get that DRM back on the Xbox. xD

omi25p4373d ago

I was all for DRM, but i knew the industry wasn't ready for it.

There are still to many people without internet for it to be worth it.

CoolBeansRus4372d ago

Do they have a anti-drm petition? Because im pretty sure that would have a lot more than 17k signatures .

SilentNegotiator4372d ago (Edited 4372d ago )

It's mostly hilarious trolls, going by the top comments.

It's Microsoft's fault for taking out the sharing capabilities, not gamers. Gamers just wanted the 24 hour checks gone.

Sounds like a handful of MS fanboys are trying to screw the rest of us gamers.

dark-hollow4373d ago

How do we know they are genuine Xbox fans and not random trolls seeing as how any anonymous person can sign?

Going after what raging fanboys did from death threats to developers who supported other consoles, all the way to negative reviews on metacritic.

I won't be surprised, hardcore fanboys are just pathetic like that.

MWH4373d ago

rumor has it that these are MS themselves.

n4rc4373d ago

Yea.. were out to screw "you" gamers..

Do you have any plans on buying one anyways? Doubt it.. So why would your opinion matter to anyone at ms?

I want those features back to.. And I did sign it.. Everyone seems to have this entitled opinion that what they think is right and those who disagree are wrong..

dedicatedtogamers4373d ago

Just before Xbox One launches, Microsoft announces:

"We've heard the voice of our fans, the true gamers out there, and we've decided to put the 24-hour connection back in! Horray!"

dbjj120884373d ago

"Now everyone go pick up your preorders!"

Rusty5154373d ago

No. The month AFTER it launches when everyone has one lol

dark-hollow4373d ago

Lol do they really think that will change anything? Do they thought that ms reversed the DRM in first place because they "listened" to us?

The only reason the reverse it was mainly due to the low preorders after the announcement. Our complains only confirmed it to Microsoft that we are pissed.

HammadTheBeast4373d ago

It's actually kind of depressing that this is the most active thing on Change.org.

3-4-54373d ago

How do we know it's not just Microsoft paying people to do this.

Then, 2 years from now they use it as "evidence" to justify them bringing it back and say" well you wanted it back".

There is more to this people....keep thinking

Mounce4373d ago

I signed it for 'lols'.

I doubt I'd get an Xbox One, so even if this effectively went anywhere? It'd not affect me.

Urusernamesucks4373d ago

This proves the Pettition is being mostly signed by ps trolls

Mounce4373d ago

Would you honestly think that legitimate people would ACTUALLY sign something that idiotic?

Let alone, no one here can truly say whether or not the creator of this petition itself is a troll.

Cmon. I'm just going with the flow of what's funny, doesn't hurt anyone. No one needs to become stiff and rustled because of something so redundant because this is going nowhere and will be forgotten in no time.

Obviously some people saw the always-online stuff as a benefit, some as a bad thing.... and Change.org is caught in the middle.

ShugaCane4373d ago

"This was to be the future of entertainment. A new wave of gaming where you could buy games digitally, then trade, share or sell those digital licenses."

lol

wishingW3L4373d ago (Edited 4373d ago )

and then he says "consumers were uninformed". Wow, talking about delusions....

madpuppy4373d ago

This petition is delusional, Did they ACTUALLY BELIEVE that you were going to be able to freely sell trade and share your games like you do now but digitally?!?!

MS was trying to open up a world that never saw a drop in the price of a game and MS authorized buyers of your digital licences would never have given you any more than you get now from gamestop. and they would NEVER allow you to sell or give your game away to a friend, he woud have to pay full price to be able to play it. didn't anybody read how this was going to go down?? when MS finally started telling us how this was going to work, it was even worse than anyone imagined!

There is no one in their right mind signing a petition for this horror show of consumer unfriendly policies unless you are stupid, a paid astroturfer or a MS employee.

HammadTheBeast4373d ago

These idiots actually thought that with the family plan you could just give away 9 copies of your game to other people.

madpuppy4373d ago

@HammadTheBeast

Kudos to you comprehension skills!

I agree with you, there are people out there that only hear what they want to hear and just get upset later when they found out the they were wrong and are stuck with a product with draconian restrictions that costs them an arm and leg to own.

OC_MurphysLaw4373d ago

Lord... well if anything good can come from this lets hope it revolves around online sharing and digital games. No way will MS do another 180 on the disc based DRM.

AngelicIceDiamond4373d ago

I agree, these people are just wasting there time. If MS listens and somehow implements the restrictions. I'll know who to blame, gamers.

madpuppy4373d ago

YAY! RESTRICTIONS!

that's what gamers want, restrictions! that is even better than gameplay!! or graphics!!

They will have fired close to 20,000 people all up after this round of lay-offs coming, since the ABK deal announcement in January 2022. Shocking really

January 2023:
Microsoft laid off 10,000 employees, which was a significant workforce reduction.

January 2024:
Approximately 1,900 gaming employees were laid off following the Activision Blizzard acquisition.

May 2025:
Microsoft announced a further 6,000 layoffs as part of an organizational shift.

June 2025:
Additional layoffs, including 650 in the gaming business, focused on corporate and support functions

"They will have fired close to 20,000 people all up after this round of lay-offs coming, since the ABK deal announcement in January 2022. Shocking really"

It's not that shocking considering these numbers aren't just Xbox numbers as you're deliberately trying to make it seem for some reason.

Interestingly, another no shocking fact is that whenever Microsoft releases its quarterly earnings reports, you're quick to point out that those numbers aren't exclusive to Xbox. Yeah... go figure.

Ganif8h ago

They also fired around 2500 people across Microsoft's gaming divisions and Zenimax shortly after buying it, and before they closed down 4 studios including Arkane and Tango.

I remember Satya boasting about how compassionate he was for splitting the list 50/50 across the two companies.

Bring your sources. I´ll wait.

He doesn’t have any sources lol

He also forgot that Sony does layoffs too

Hereandthere9h ago

Let's hope its not as bad as socials are making it, good luck to those that unfortunately lose their jobs.

Lightning778h ago

Could be not as bad could be horrible. But it's Ms so I'm expecting the absolute worst.

-Foxtrot8h ago

Sometimes I feel like they brought in Sarah to take the heat away from Phil.

Phil has always stuck his nose into everything Xbox related when it's something positive or at least neutral but as soon as they went the multiplatform root he's stood back and let Sarah do most of the talking in terms of PR. Now they are doing the same with layoffs.

The person who should be let go is Phil himself.

RhinoGamer885h ago

Phil and his inner circle of circle jerk bros like AG.

Obscure_Observer5h ago

"Phil has always stuck his nose into everything Xbox related when it's something positive or at least neutral but as soon as they went the multiplatform root he's stood back and let Sarah do most of the talking in terms of PR. Now they are doing the same with layoffs."

You have no idea what you´re talking about.

*IF* Microsoft decides to address the upcoming layoffs, Matt Booty will be the one in the spotlight since he is the president of XGS.

Phil will probably be on some bs drama later doing interviews telling people how "devastated" and "sorry" he is for those affected while wiping away his tears with money.

Sarah is the President of Xbox (hardware) so she will be better off taking care of hers business and let both Matt and Phil face the backlash.

Jingsing43m ago

Amen to that, All of Phil's industry peers have left or moved on in the time he has been at Xbox. He is like a football manager that doesn't know when to go. I'm almost convinced he just wants to keep holding on so he can leave on a high (egotistical). But he is just causing more damage than good.

Think that rumor that they'll still make a new console but at a profit at $1000 will be true though. The series consoles will remain their cheap alternative throughout next gen I would say. Keep in mind that game pass and pretty much going 3rd party is their main focus. They want to bring xbox everywhere.

2d ago
GamerRN1d 12h ago

If they don't maintain some kind of console presence, I think they will lose gamepass subscribers and just become a 3rd party publisher who eventually sells everything off

Cacabunga1d 11h ago

Xbox games are releasing on all platforms. Who needs this hardware? PS or PC is all you need

Flewid6381d 10h ago

I've never owned an Xbox in my life and I have GamePass.

thorstein1d 9h ago

The only Xbox I owned was the 360. I have gamepass for my PC.

Even if they could get it down to $800 for a box that can run with comparable performance to a PS6 (at, say $200 cheaper) the population of people willing to buy such a thing would be so limited.
It would be the worst of both worlds.

Looming Xbox layoffs threaten Microsoft's reputation

Even as the company sets out to overhaul the very definition of Xbox, cuts at its studios risk creating a negative image reminiscent of EA's worst era

I appreciate the article but this guy must be living in a delayed universe, The reputation was ruined 10+ years ago and hasn't recovered since. As such people have voted with their wallets and stopped buying Xbox products in large amounts.

YourMommySpoils3d ago

Their reputation was lost way before that. From the moment Microsoft said they entering the console business, we all knew it would be a downgrade.

Bathyj2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

That's not true at all the OG Xbox had drive and they had hunger and they wanted to accomplish something. It was a great console.

they didn't quite reach their goals and they gave up prematurely because they couldn't win. It was halfway through the Xbox 360 when kinect released and that was when they lost their way and we're a rudderless ship ever since

Agent752d ago

In all fairness, Xbox had some great games with online play, Xbox 360 even better. Xbox consoles started to die with the Xbox One. Ditch consoles for the PC and PS.

YourMommySpoils2d ago

@Bathyj hard to compute ay. Xbox was never better than a PC and that's all they ever were. A demo box. Doesn't get more true than that.

What reputation is this threatening exactly? 😂

Lightning774d ago

Rumors of Turn 10 being either shut down or hit with massive lay offs is on the horizon.

The issue is MS will do something right only to do something very, very wrong. And they do this what seems calculative at this point. Doesn't matter what they do the Investors and leadership want more and more money an endless bottomless pit of purr insatiable greed. A company that acts like it's broke or hurting is what really, really infuriates me. They've surpassed apple again well over 3 trillion who acts like they're a million dollar company is fk stupid. Pivots and changes for no reason and can't do things for more than a year with out a pivot or changing their metrics.

Christopher3d ago

That would be really bad since Phil just hyped up next year as a big Forza year at Summer Game Fest.

1Victor3d ago

@christopher: “ That would be really bad since Phil just hyped up next year as a big Forza year at Summer Game Fest”
The key word big can be ether good or bad 🤷🏿only time can tell

DarXyde3d ago

First Forza being generated entirely via AI?

If any company would do it, it'd be them.

Nacho_Z2d ago

Isn't the point that it's irrelevant how profitable MS is, the suits have decided it's time that the Xbox division started making them money. Hence the layoffs, the pivots.

hennessey862d ago

That wouldn't surprise me, as motorsport has been heading down hill since the great number 4. Where as playground have consistently put out better games. I think the two studios will be merged under playground games banner.
