Smash4 is a lot more appealing on the eyes. Brawl tried too hard to look "realistic", stages were a lot less vibrant and colorful (Delphino Island lacked the vibrancy it had in Sunshine). As to be expected Smash4 has better textures, lighting, more subtle details, better models as well (Bowser is my favorite so far)
It looks good while retaining that Nintendo charm. By not trying to meet the expectations of the generation it goes further

No more grainy textures, every thing is clean and smooth. The samus pic( #13) shows this of pretty well.
