What does 10X computational power mean?

So we were talking about how the new xbox has roughly 10 times the CPU power of the old one?

GreenRanger3981d ago (Edited 3981d ago )

It means that they think they've got a PS4 in the sky.

Pope_Kaz_Hirai_II3981d ago

Hey greenranger u got it wrong, you see with the Powah of the Clowd... the xbox one turns into an i7 3770k @5ghz and quad channell Gtx titans.. so Ms are giving us a 4 thousand dollar console for 500 GREAT VALUE

ZoyosJD3981d ago

Ummm, the ONE lacks displayport, and I lack fast enough internet.

Really....its hard to believe people didn't got that sarcasm.

Cloud computing is retarded and impracticable and will be for 10+ more years, Nvidia who is pushing Nvidia grid strong themselves has already said streamed games are inferior quality to running it on the console/PC.

nukeitall3981d ago (Edited 3981d ago )

@edonus:

That is because you are talking to an immature fangirl crowd that has little understanding for technology beyond marketing buzz words.

They constantly compare cloud computing with Gakai, which is not the same. Not even close beyond both being on the internet.

Just remember, Gakai is able to render, then stream HD video of your game to you at supposed almost lag free experience, but cloud computing cannot do anything for your games! /s

You're reading comments?

Why not study CPU power?

izumo_lee3981d ago

All this Cloud computing talk from Microsoft...i'll believe it when i see it. Remember this is the same people that said we could scan a skateboard with the Kinect & use it in game.....right now for me it is all BS.

theWB273981d ago (Edited 3981d ago )

As opposed to the people who told us we were going to get Toy Story level visuals because the emotion engine was so cutting edge(PS2)? Or how about the people who touted the cell processor as a supercomputer and power so many electronic devices, including making the PS3 so powerful that only a handful of games looked significantly better than the weaker, DVD driven 360. Devoting 4 years of shared research only to completely abandon the cell a generation later.

NewMonday3981d ago

exactly!

thats why you should only believe real hard numbers and actual software.

izumo_lee3981d ago

The 'toy story graphics' was a phrase from Microsoft, not Sony. Game journalist hyped the PS2 making false stories.

Source:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum...

http://news.cnet.com/Micros...

"One of the basic premises of the Xbox is to put the power in the hands of the artist," Blackley said, which is why Xbox developers "are achieving a level of visual detail you really get in 'Toy Story.'"

I can't argue about the Cell cause Ken Kutaragi was talking out of his ass. It was him who was running Sony at that time so i am not gonna defend Sony during that time cause they were what Microsoft is right now.....arrogant.

SilentNegotiator3981d ago (Edited 3981d ago )

The "OH YEAH??? Well *they*..." comment when the comment that the responder is responding to has nothing to with the "they" party.

A sign of serious fan frustration.

That was around in 1999...you got me on it not being a direct quote though.

@Hicken
Those exclusives-God of War-Metal Gear-Uncharted-Heavy Rain-TloU
That's what I meant by the handful of games. There were other exclusives that didn't outshine 360 exclusives. So thanks for the long, pointless rant and I already conceded that to izumo.

Just as I point out now..Sony boasts so much about how much more powerful their machines are but only a few games ever show it. I've stated before on these forums that the PS4 isn't that much more powerful, if any, that the One. Mainly because Kojima has never let a system gimp his vision. Which is why Metal Gear4 never came to 360. But, Metal Gear 5 was shown at Microsofts conference, letting me know it's closer than the BS Sony and it's loyalist followers sit out. Proof???

From the man himself....

Hicken3981d ago

So, since izumo called you out on your first fallacy, I guess I can debunk your second.

See, it's a "handful" in relation to the total number of games released. A lot of this has to do with developers not wanting to invest time in making the PS3 version as good as it could have been. Most games in the 7th generation were designed with the limitations of the 360 in mind. Not just because of the DVD limitation, but also because of Microsoft's "We want parity or else" policy.

Now, if we were to compare exclusives, you'll find Sony's routinely outperformed Microsoft's.

You may cry "foul" at narrowing it down, but consider this: when you create a device, the experts on that device are likely the ones to be able to get the best out of it. Obviously, the experts on a console would be the developers who work exclusively with that hardware. That is to say: those who create exclusives. The average man may be able to do pretty good, but he's no match for a pro. That would be multiplat devs.

Now, it's already been established that PS3's exclusives looked better than the 360's. That's really all the convincing anyone should need.

Telltale shares new images from The Wolf Among Us 2, release 2024

The long-awaited sequel to the 2013 narrative adventure is currently expected out sometime in 2024.

BlackOni22d ago

Oh hell yeah! I feel like this was one hell of an underrated game, and I'm glad to see that a part 2 is coming.

jznrpg22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

This was my favorite Telltale game. I’m definitely going to play this. Hopefully it has less jank than the Telltale games had. I didn’t think it would happen but I’m happy it’s coming

gold_drake21d ago

right? it was sooo good, cant wait for part 2

BlackCountryBob22d ago

Great, loved the first game and happy a sequel is coming but after such a lengthy development, are Telltale gonna be releasing it episodic with non specific time delays between episodes? If it is episodic, they need to have a full set of dates laid out for every episode so we know what we are getting & when like Resident Evil Revelations 2 did, buying episode 1 and not knowing when the rest will come is just unacceptable in 2024.

CobraKai21d ago

I always loved Telltale games. They were like those old choose your own adventures books.

Gamers seek legal win that would stop devs from rendering online games unplayable

The organizer of "Stop Killing Games" hopes to get France and other governments to examine the legality of live service shutdowns. Scott has launched a new website, Stop Killing Games, to rally opposition to the games industry's "assault on both consumer rights and preservation of media," as he puts it.

-Foxtrot36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

Should probably get them to implement offline mode when it comes to games you can play single player

It's shitty playing something solo and having to be connect despite being offline within the game.

It's worse when you get the games which can't be paused, I remember the doorbell going during a huge fight in Monster Hunter World, it took me ages but realised you couldn't pause. I ended up getting slaughtered after spending so long almost killing it.

Yi-Long35d ago

Driveclub is one of my favourite games of all-time, but once Sony killed it, it's barely playable in offline; Leaderboards are obviously gone so one of the things I liked to do most in the game, Time-attack, is now pretty pointless, and every race you start there's a red text on thr screen telling you you're offline.

There honestky was no need to keep the offline so integrated with the online stuff, and it's made me wary of other games which are now 'always online'.

purple10135d ago

should do what gran truismo on ps54 did, after severs shut, they unlock everything in the campaign to be played offline

there's no need for anti-cheat 'always online' which was always their excuse, thats and updating gamer progression

neutralgamer199235d ago

I didn’t know that. That’s awesome

Jingsing35d ago

and put out a physical version at the end, it is extra money for them at the end of the day.

blacktiger35d ago

Ppl get confused about this lawsuit, this guy has a point, if you don't want to pay for server cause no one is playing that's fine, at least make it PVP, that isn't hard and people paid for the game. So there for it shouldn't be unplayable. Offline is not what he's fighting for but that would be single player. He just fighting for PVP as to dedicated if you going to take it down.

I agree with this one! I hope he wins!

SimpleSlave35d ago

"Offline is not what he's fighting for but that would be single player. "

Always Online does include fully fledged Single Player Campaigns as well. And that's why I think The Crew is being used; The Precedent that covers it all.

Games like The Division 1 and 2 also have Single Player Campaigns, and Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a fully fledged Single Player game but always Online. Which mean that unless uBeSawft patches them they will all cease to exist once uBeSawft pulls the plug.

Again, I think this is why The Crew is being used as the precedent, because it covers all the Online Only bases; Not just the usual Multiplayer PvE and PvP like an MMO or Shooters and their Servers, but also actual Single Player Campaigns that are sadly always online.

Inverno35d ago

Should pin this to let it be on top for a while. This sort of stuff should get some good amount of attention, could actually make some good change in the industry.

HyperMoused35d ago

SP games yes, MP games, its a question of whos maintaing the servers etc and keeing them online.

blackblades35d ago

PvP games it should work. I remember playing black ops offline with AI opponents but of course its funner with real and AI bots. I know some games are server base but I imagine if hard work put in to it that, it can work offline.

PRIMORDUS35d ago

At least on the PC side I say if a company doesn't want to support a game anymore just give it to the fans. They will keep it alive for years and years. Like UT2004 for example you can still play it today, or BF1942. For any SP games I just torrent and keep it forever if they pull the plug. 😊
