It's pretty crazy how much the Rift screws with your senses when all of your auditory and visual information is coming from a computer.

I really hope the Rift gets tons of developer support when it launches. It really is the coolest thing we've seen pop up in the game industry in a good decade or so.

yeah once people realise that the only thing they need to move is their head not the rest of their body then they will be able to use it regularly. virtual reality has been attempted many times in the past both in gaming and experimentally but this is the first time there has been a strong backing behind it. if only sony would add motion sensors to this ( http://opticalvisionresourc... ) 3d oled head mounted display with surround sound. that would be epic. i would buy it if it wasnt so goddamn expensive. there is a version in japan with head tracking but they should make one that works with the ps4

Totally agree, Pandamobile. Oculus Rift has the potential to change gaming in exciting ways.

Looked pretty scripted to me ;)

caseh4023d ago

Could be but i'm thinking its real. Like using 3D glasses for the first time you may instinctively reach out or sway to avoid something.

I'm guessing this has the same effect when you first use it as its immersive to the extent of allowing you to look around but not see anything other than the game you're a part of.

Oculus obscures pretty much 100% of your vision, therefore the body relies on visual/audio input along with conflicting information from vestibular system to interpret position and motion. Which might put some stress on ones brain.

Ever been in spinning tunnel? Very same thing. Even though you are standing firmly on the ground, visual input suggest surrounding is spinning, giving illusion of the same, hence difficulty to stand straight on your own.

I'd say it has some potential possibilities of disattaching eye perceptive priority and could force body to make some good use of vestibular instead. More trained senses to rely on.

That's fine. GT7 would overshadow it anyway at it has open wheel and regular cars.

Should have been spending their time updating Squadrons with better resolution, frame rate, haptics, etc as there isn't a game like that on PS VR 2 yet.

But it's EA. They don't think.

Babadook7366d ago

I agree. It would sell better on PSVR2 right now.

Knushwood Butt367d ago (Edited 367d ago )

A wasted opportunity, but I don't buy EA / Codemasters stuff anyway. Grid Legends just came out on Plus and I haven't touched it. Why would I when I have GT7 and PSVR2?

Abnor_Mal367d ago

Not into F1 racing, but still a missed opportunity.

ApocalypseShadow367d ago

That's where opportunity presents itself that they could offer something else that other developers haven't offered yet. Yeah. There's No Man's Sky. But a space game with a story would be great. Like the old days with Colony Wars.

Abnor_Mal366d ago

Exactly, they could have possibly lured more players just from the inclusion of a vr mode.

I miss Colony wars and G-Police, Low-Fi I hope will scratch that itch when it releases. We also need a vr War/Starhawk game.

Knushwood Butt366d ago

Just watched the trailer of Low-Fi. Most definitely on my radar.

Although I never owned an oculus, I played the demo for this at an electronics store. Pretty impressive in an early goings of VR title.
