What if NES Games Were Developed with Today’s Industry Standards

Gaming has changed a lot since the NES days. And I’m not just talking about the graphics, sound or even 3D environments. I’m referring to how the industry as a whole reshaped. Tutorials, micro-transactions, achievements, making the game more accessible to everyone etc… All that stuff, plus more, has transformed the industry. I’m not complaining, nor do I think video games are worse now then back in the 80s.

Some games still have codes. One of the most recent I can think of is BioShock Infinite.

DeadIIIRed4028d ago

Really though the code in Bioshock Infinite is more of a nostalgic throwback than anything else (1999 Mode).

@ DeadlllRed

Does that really matter? Penguinhunter said they missed codes and noted some games (which do totally exist) still have them and the most recent was BioShock Infinite, which you yourself admit has a code. So I really fail to see your point.. Sure they can't all be like Shank 2 (unlocks a special character in the hoard mode), but still a billion times better than...

"1999 Mode Early Unlock - $.99
Play the hardest mode in BioShock Infinite right off the bat. For a limited time get it for $.99, which is half off the normal sale price."

I miss extra content when you beat a game...Oh wait no there still here but as PAID DLC, man that sucks.

You would have had to pay $5.99 for the konami code as in game dlc.

crazysammy4028d ago

Haha I got a good laugh from the pictures. Especially Neal Anderson from the bears on Tecmo Super Bowl. That dude always got hurt.

7 Iconic Games That Put The PS1 On The Map

The first PlayStation is home to an array of iconic video games that went on to define the sheer significance of this console.

I think from a historical perspective I would change Spyro for Grand Turismo. It's the franchise that made the PS1 look like an absolute unit. Other than that, I can't argue with the rest when it comes to games that defined the PS1.

And to be honest, there should be space for Tekken 3, Wipepout and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater in order to round out the PS1 identity as the machine to own at the time.

With Tomb Raider 2, Silent Hill, Symphony of the Night, Tenchu, and Soul Reaver as backup contenders.
