Rumour: Sorcery Developer Summoning New First-Person Shooter for PS4

Push Square: "The studio behind last year’s overlooked PlayStation Move exclusive Sorcery is working its magic on a brand new title for the PlayStation 4. Having spent the latter half of last year producing Borderlands 2 DLC, the Californian outfit is now turning its attention to Sony’s next generation machine."

Made me remember Yoshida's quote a couple of days ago:
"... we hate to see all the PS4 games being first-person shooters.."

shivvy244029d ago

What if its RESISTANCE 4 !!!!!!! :)

Root4029d ago

With how many studios they have, I still believe him.

bicfitness4029d ago

Actually, this could be who is handling the Planetside 2 > PS4 port. There's nothing that says SOE has to be doing it, any internal studio could technically move assets around.

FPSes aren't my thing, but if Sony launched the PS4 WITH Planetside 2 PRE-INSTALLED, it could be a major coup for the CoD crowd on their platform.

I've lost interest in FPS's a bit but not fully.

I always like having a shooter around to jump online and play a few games.

I'm done with COD until next gen, just got a PC and have been loving Planetside 2.

It's just different compared to what I've played before. The battles are huge and fun.

DeadlyFire4029d ago

FPSs used to be all about competition. Now its about achievements and streaks. Hopefully that gets better as time moves on. Only a few I see really pushing the FPS/TPS lineup beyond the regular stuff.

Nitrowolf24029d ago (Edited 4029d ago )

honestly though, besides Killzone and Resistance, in terms of Sony First party studio what other games are FPS?

I know Planetside 2, but that would be a huge and welcomed addition for the PS4, considering it's free-to-play.

Ducky4029d ago (Edited 4029d ago )

Only other one I can think of is Payday.
Although I suppose that's more of a third party thing with Sony only publishing.

GABRIEL10304029d ago

Oh boy¡ Planetside 2 in a PS4 could be great¡

DeadlyFire4029d ago

I can definately see Planetside 2 coming to PS4. I just wonder if PC vs. console play can happen. Would be awesome if they did that I believe. Just give the PS4 version keyboard+Mouse compatibility to make everyone happy.

AngelicIceDiamond4029d ago

Lol I forgot all about Sorcery.

Anyway, a FPS Move title sounds interesting. Lets just hope it actually sales this time.

Riderz13374029d ago

Do you even read what you post?

"We hate to see ALL the PS4 games being FPS"

Keyword: ALL - Doesn't mean we won't see some FPS games.

Really hope they try to utilize the move controller for next gen ps4 I thought sorcery was a decent game and actually did a pretty good job using it. They should make some RPG using the move controller and voice commands with the new PS4 Eye

bicfitness4029d ago

I politely disagree. I'm waiting for them to patch Sorcery with standard PS3 controls. I find Move more precise than the Wii or Kinect, but no less finicky or irritating to use. I gave motion control a fair shake, waggle and flail - pun intended - but its just not for me.

raytraceme4029d ago

I think it has to do with getting used to the controls. I played infamous 2 with the move first and tried playing with ds3 but couldn't because the move was just that much better. Same thing for sorcery I wouldn't want to play it any other way then playing it with the move.

Shacojin4029d ago

Oh I completely understand, Move is very questionable in terms of performance and I found it pretty cool to use during Sorcery, not perfect but just a different experience.. wish the devs would go out of their way to incorporate both move and dual shock support.. best of both worlds. I myself prefer dual shock control majority of the time... every once in a while I break out of my comfort zone and try move

Snookies124029d ago

For some reason I read this as new "Summoner" for PS4... I liked Summoner, though I'm probably in the minority there. XD

Skate-AK4029d ago

That's what I thought it was too. Played Summoner all the time on PS2.

remanutd554029d ago

Nooooooooooooooooooooo, i really wanted them to work on Sorcery 2, i love Sorcery!!!

Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster Review – An Epic Tale Of Pixelated Portrayals

Gary Green said: We’re finding ourselves in a similar position with the Pixel Remaster edition of Final Fantasy IV as we were with Final Fantasy III since, once again, we’ve received a slightly upscaled, more vibrant port of the original game when there’s already an expanded 3D remake available. As such, we’re playing a game which, even after its long-awaited release, still lives very much in the shadow of its remake.

If only they didn't screw ps4 owners over with a physical release. I'd have ran through this in a heartbeat.

The first one I played, it was the one that made me fall in love with JRPGs and is still my favorite to this day. A masterpiece
