AMD on Canada’s contribution to hardware behind the PlayStation 4, Wii U and Xbox 720

At GDC I had the chance to sit down with David Cummings, AMD’s general manager of professional graphics, based out of the company’s Markham, Ont., development facility.

Since the hardware giant is providing the horsepower behind the Wii U, PlayStation 4 and probably the currently unannounced next-generation Xbox, I was curious where all these GPUs and CPUs are being manufactured.

I'm not Canadian but it's always good to see positive gaming news come from outside the States.

It only helps the gaming industry as a whole.

Agreed, I'm Canadian though, you never hear to much about Canada and gaming even though we have a ton of game studios here, large ones and small ones, so it's very interesting to read about this stuff.

This article totally sucks!!!

:) Just kidding man! It was a good read. I always wanted to know myself where they would be manufacturing all these chips across three platforms as well.

Keep up the good work and stay positive.

The facility in Markham used to be the ATI headquarters. Then AMD bought them in 2006. I have driven by the building several times. Always thought it was cool that a company as big as ATI (now part of AMD) was founded in Canada.
