City State Entertainment have just announced that the Kickstarter campaign for their highly anticipated MMORPG game, Camelot Unchained, is now live on the official website. Kickstarter has taken the gaming world by storm in recent years, giving players the opportunity to invest in and support upcoming MMO games that would otherwise not see the light of day.
The MMORPG Camelot Unchained has a new launch window of late 2025, while the spin-off Final Stand: Ragnarok re-launches next month on Steam early access.
MMORPG players have been waiting for Camelot Unchained for a long time; actually, a long time would be an understand, we have been waiting for Camelot Unchained for what feels like an eternity! Fortunately, the game is still progressing, even if it is progressing slowly. City State Entertainment released their April 2022 End of Month CU Update and there is a lot happening on Camelot Unchained.
The first Camelot Unchained closed beta test is now underway, bringing backers of the game into a newly updated version of the RvR MMO.
Definitely looking forward to this! Mark Jacobs' (creator of DAoC) RvR baby. No PVE, just 3-realm RvR.
I was a big fan of DAOC, but there are certain red flags that come up with this prpject. Jacobs is a multi millionaire already, so he doesn't *need* a kickstarter. Also, sub-based games are dying, and really, I refuse to pay a sub for this. Jacobs stated in interviews that he will use this game to springboard into DAOC 2... meaning, it will be short lived no matter how thibgs turn oit. And, if it is to be an MMO, the funding sounds low as hell. Rift cost $33 million, for example.
IF the game is highly anticipated a publisher would or should have picked it up...
It sucks that it looks like publishers are sending games to kickstarter first to get some public funding before they jump in...
You watch... public funding will happen and than a few months into development they will sign with a publisher...
publisher invest a lot less and still reaps the majority of the rewards...
You wait and see... once of them will pick it up...
