The Hyperkin Retron 5 can play almost any old game cartridge

Gaming accessories maker, Hyperkin is jumping back into the unique console market with their Retron 5, which will support even more systems than their Retron 3 did.

SNES + GBA on one system ?!

Rockefellow4050d ago

HDMI out with upscaling properties? It might finally be worth pulling out my old collection of games. I emulate everything since I don't want a half dozen systems littering my entertainment center, but this would do the trick nicely.

I'll wait to see how well it works, of course.

Software_Lover4050d ago

Man, that looks nice. I'm not even gonna lie. I play all my old games through emulation and the hyperspin frontend, but that device given the right price I could see myself owning.

Aka hyperkin has remade the Sega nomad.
Hyperkin does what Sega don't

Sgt_Slaughter106d ago (Edited 106d ago )

I'd have to wait to see performance, because if this is just another rom dump-to-emulation type Hyperkin device then hard pass. The quality of their products are severely hit-or-miss.

Also, unsure why they picked a 16:9 screen yet again when every game plays in 4:3. There are plenty of emu-handhelds that have quality screens in the original aspect ratio.

Profchaos105d ago

So I've got clarification on the screen it'll go between 4:3 and 16:9 with a toggle but yeah I get what you mean it does look like a 16:9 screen.

Also doesn't appear to be a emulation device runs native carts. But also I guess you could just load up a everdrive and play anything on it.

Hyperkin Announce the Cortana Edition and 20th Anniversary Duke Controllers

Neil writes: "Created in collaboration with Xbox and 343 Industries, the team at Hyperkin has announced that they'll be releasing some rather tasty Limited and Special Edition Duke controllers, with the Cortana Limited Edition being the utter highlight - and you don't need us to tell you that it is an absolute purple beast."

Very cool. I have the green duke they made and will gladly pick up these.

Magog944d ago

I forgot how awkwardly placed all those buttons were.

Vits944d ago

Still one of my favorites controllers overall. Extremely comfortable for my hands.Unfortunately the Hyperskin version is ridiculously expensive in my region. To the point that you can actually get yourself a Xbox Series controller and a Dual Sense for the same price.

VenomUK944d ago (Edited 944d ago )

@Vits For me, no way! When playing Halo at a friend's the Duke was always unwieldily big. I didn't buy my original Xbox at launch I bought it when it had the refined smaller controllers, and they were great. It's funny to think how the designed was refined and then went next level with the 360 controller.

Vits944d ago

Totally fair.
I know very few that share my like for this controller. And the 360 is still one of my go to controllers for a lot of PC games. It's a shame that finding an original one in good condition is so difficult these days.

darthv72944d ago

I enjoyed the duke as well, then again I have large hands. When the S controller came out, it didnt take much to get used to it (except the placement of the b/w buttons) but Id say 360 was their magnum opus.

medman944d ago

I really like the design....well done.

Hyperkin celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Xbox Classic with a refresh of Duke

Duke is without a doubt one of the most recognizable video game characters, designed with American video game players in mind because of his “big hands,” and then reduced in size to appeal to Japanese audiences.
