Sony sends out another round of $10 PSN credits

GE: "Last month, Sony sent out $10 credits to select PlayStation Network users. The criteria for receiving the voucher was unclear – and still is – but those who missed out on the bonus in February may have a small surprise waiting on their PlayStation 3 systems today."

It's funny that, while certain people pay to play online, other people get $10 out of nowhere. People still have a hard time choosing a console???

Godmars2904060d ago

Pretty sure MS has done the same thing at some point. Not that they didn't get the money back.

xHeavYx4060d ago

@Godmars290 you are right, I forgot about the $0.25 some people got from MS

Peppino74060d ago

Yay, another round of getting nothing :(

Godmars2904060d ago

Was that from the attempt to monetize Achievement points or from some sponsored deal where they basically got money for giving money away?

badz1494060d ago

I hope I get it this time

WeAreLegion4060d ago

I wish I could give more than just one bubble up for the Peanuts reference.

Finally got mine...and used it all on Ecolibrium.

CaptainYesterday4060d ago

Wait you bought Ecolibrium? It was free the other day I thought it still was!

FunAndGun4060d ago (Edited 4060d ago )

Man, that little game is quite fun!

The first time my Maanhare gained level and grew a horn, I said "oh hell yeah!"

Then for the first online challenge I placed like 5,000 and I was all "damn, I'm never getting that under 100 reward!"

:D

@CaptainYesterday

The base game is totally free and I'm pretty sure it will stay that way. There are microtransactions if you want to really get into it though.

freezola754060d ago

Sup 12, I got mine yesterday too..

Fist bump w/Sony. (No explosion, that's wack LOL)

Haven't decided what to spend it on yet.. maybe a Vita game perhaps. Or I'll probably by a couple more episodes of TWD..

Anyways props to them I could definitely use it.. peace

TheTwelve4060d ago (Edited 4060d ago )

@Captain -- I used it to buy items *in* Ecolibrium, which is free.

@funandgun --- Ecolibrium takes a lot of patience but is super rewarding!!!

@Freezola --- whassup my dude

Did you buy something from psn after the first 10$ ?..

kreate4060d ago

I did. But I didnt receive anything this time around. Maybe for ppl who missed the first set of 10 buck giveaway?

Philoctetes4060d ago

Same here. Time to buy Motorstorm RC -- and I'll have enough left over for a theme.

3-4-54060d ago

I hope I got the credits this time. Missed out on the last one.

t0mmyb0y4060d ago

Me too. I thought they sent it because my message was "Wheres my $10 Sony" lol guess just coincidence.

DevilishSix4060d ago

This is what is awesome about Sony. I have received around $50 so far, but I was an early adopter and upgraded my PS3 a couple times, but the network is free (unlike M$) and they give PSN dollars for just being a PS3 owner.

CaptainYesterday4060d ago

Thats not true at all I got the $10 and I have a Vita also PSN has been giving out free games too :)

Sharius4060d ago

what are you talking? ps3 and psv use the same account

in 1st round many of my friends whom have only the psv get this 10$, but they cannot redeem this code via psv, then few day later they get that code again via email so they can redeem this at the website

Th4Freak4060d ago (Edited 4060d ago )

PS3 and PSV use the same account but remember that the products are attached to that account so Sony knows which platform you have.

I've had my PSN account since 2005 when I bought my first PSP and i've never recieved anything from Sony and this the second time Sony send free credit and i've never seen an article about PSV users recieving it also users in forums and reddit reported that they don't see the code in their PSV but when they go into the PS3 the message pops up.

So you're lying to me or you have extremely lucky friends.

jon12344060d ago

@th4freak quick correction, you've had your psn account since 2006, the Psp had no account system in place :)

MysticStrummer4060d ago

Whether it shows up on your Vita or not, PSN is still used by both. Just owning the console or handheld won't be enough to get the credit, I'm sure. How much money have you spent on PSN, buying games, avis, themes, DLC, Home items, etc? I've spent a lot, and I got the $10 credit last time. Friends of mine who hardly spend any money on PSN got mad and wondered where their credit was. lol

Th4Freak4060d ago (Edited 4060d ago )

It has nothing to do with how much you spend on the PSN, I left these 2 links so you can read that users reported that people who have spend only a few bucks got the $10 credit, it is completly random.

However my concern is that PSV users has reported that they don't get the $10 credit but also a couple of users that own PS3 and PSV said that the message is displayed in the PS3 but not in the PS Vita.

porkChop4060d ago

@Th4Freak

That's correct. I got the $10 last time and it only showed up on my PS3. Every single one of my messages on PS3 was also showing on my Vita, the ONLY one that was missing was the $10 credit. Seems to be only for PS3 users.

admiralvic4060d ago

@ Th4Freak

It's actually a fundamental problem with the Vita and isn't unique to this instance. Basically any message that involves a link to the PSN store or at least the PSN will not appear on the Vita. Perhaps because of how the Vita is coded, which means it can't support it or Sony didn't implement it yet. Whatever the case might be, it's a universal thing.

Hicken4060d ago

I can't tell you whether or not you get it if you're SOLELY a Vita user, but while I got the message in my inbox Tuesday on PS3, it didn't show up at all on my Vita.

I suggest contacting Sony to see if there's some other method by which you can check your PSN messages and acquire the code, if there is one.

Used mine, by the way, to buy Persona 2 EP.

Th4Freak4060d ago (Edited 4060d ago )

I just did it and they told me that they're not aware if it's displayed or not in the PSV however they will send a email with the code and they also told me that the free $10 credits promotion it's over and the only promotion right now is the one where you spend $50 and get extra $10. Hmm odd.

Nerdmaster4060d ago

I got $10 in the previous round and I used it plus $2.50 that I already had on my account to buy BlazBlue for Vita.

I don't mean to be rude, but it really annoys me when everyone acts like USA = North America. There's 23 countries in North America, including Canada and Mexico.

Mugen Souls Retro Review – Sexy Demon Space Adventure

Gary Green said: We have a juxtaposition of 2D and 3D visuals, flashy turn-based combat, quirky anime characters with cheeky dialogue with plenty of partial nudity; Yes, this is a Compile Heart JRPG. Whilst the engine is borrowed from Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Mugen Souls is more of a Disgaea spin-off. It’s not a strategy RPG as such, it merely sits within Disgaea’s ever-expanding universe (Multiverse? Netherverse? Your guess is as good as mine). You won’t find cameos though, since Mugen Souls is a franchise which aims to stand on its own two feet.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies8h ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken3h ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing6919h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker18h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo18h ago(Edited 18h ago)

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing6918h ago(Edited 18h ago)

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos15h ago(Edited 15h ago)

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt6h ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken3h ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos1d ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Tacoboto1d ago

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

banger8823h ago

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).

ChasterMies13h ago

Trevor in GTA 6 is a sadist and psychopath who dabbles in cannibalism. Should be top of the list. These game “news” sites should hire people that know games.
