"Wii U Promotion Needs Revised" - Retailers

Simon: "The Nintendo Wii U has been available for almost three months and the sales have slowly began to decrease over the past month. Many retailers agree that the problem with the Wii U is the price of the console."

Just needs more games and they need to be same price as ps3/xbox games. Why cuz as big a ninty fan that I am, I wont pay £ 10 for a game I can get for for another console. Until the next consoles come out 3rd party games wont sell as easily on the wiiu.

Those of you that think the controller sucks I would like to know what you think of the alleged ps4 controller

nirwanda4097d ago

I like the idea of the controller been able to play while my girlfriend watches soaps on tv, its just that because it isn't being that well surported and the ps4/720 isnt far away I can afford only one console so i'm waiting to see which is the best.

kneon4097d ago

I find the Wii U controller big and clunky, but I don't see why you wish to compare it to the new ps4 controller. It appears to be only slightly modified in shape from the ds3 and they've added a touch pad,no touch screen. It doesn't appear to be much of a change.

user39158004097d ago

Really promotions? How about killing the wiiu now and save us the trouble. Take a year to build a next gen console instead of a 7 year old product. WIIU is dead.those that disagrees, keep waiting, or do what I did, buy 1 and be impress by absolute garbage.

This by far is one of the lamest comments on N4G,how about being patient and wait for the great games to come instead of being a Negative Nancy!Yes there is currently a lack of compelling software, but you make it seem like its not coming.

Pikmin 3
Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate
Wonderful 101
Bayonetta 2
Super Smash Bros
A new Zelda and a remake of Wind Waker
Mario Kart
Mario 3D
Xenoblade 2 (X)
Rayman Legends

Those are some examples of upcoming games that are worth owning a Wii-U for.So really, stop with the trolling comments saying they should scrap a new console to make and even stronger one, which would cost over $500 bucks most likely.Developers havent even taken advantage of whats in the U yet and you,and people like you,are already dismissing the system.

Its only 3 1/2 months old,let the system breathe before dooming it.The PS3 had no games for a long time, and the Vita is still struggling with support. But you make it seem like Nintendo cant turn things around.Last I checked they took a struggling 3DS and made it the the best selling console month to month ever so far.

HITANDRUN4096d ago

Agree the wiiu should get out of business while they still can.

morpha4097d ago

In Australia WiiU games are actually cheaper than other new releases.

yes, but the wii u sales were not as bad as ps3 and 360' s first 3 months, see? http://www.technobuffalo.co... and no one made a big deal about them, sorry nintendo haters, the truth is out deal with it!

??/??/????

Lets see what the competition has to offer before coming to a conclusion.

Wii U just needs more games however i dont expect it to be as successful as the Wii and i dont think it will outsell (if it happens) the PS4 and the 720 by a huge margin.

Its all up to Microsoft and Sony to give Nintendo some stiff competition.

SuperShyGuy4097d ago

No one expects the Wii U to sell as well as the Wii, but does that mean it's a failure?

PS3 won't reach PS2 levels but no one calls it(PS3) a failure. Unlikely PS4 will reach PS2's level either

World wide recession wasn't happening in 06, 07.

From the link you posted:

"The main difference between the Wii U and the Xbox 360 and original Wii was that after three months at retail, the Wii U is abundantly available. Both the Wii and the Xbox 360 had hardware shortages. The PlayStation 3 did not suffer the same shortages, but was priced too high to move as well as it could have."

Big differences. Trust me if there was enough Wii's to go round it would have sold even more, same for the 360 and off course the ps3 was $599.

The Wii-U went from selling 450K in December to 57K in January in NA. PS3,360 and the Wii have never gone that low and the Wii-U has achieved that in it's third month. If you think that is fine since it's still tracking above 360 and PS3 in their first then I don't know what to say.

Gamer-404097d ago

Simple, need more games and need little time.
WiiU good console, i buy soon.

Bayonetta 2, Zelda WW remake, new Zelda, 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Monolith Soft X and many more cool exklusive games coming, this 100%.

Wii U is going to be another DreamCast. It will be obsolete when PS4 comes out.

Zelda Replay: Majora's Mask

VGChartz's Evan Norris: "Is Ocarina of Time as legendary as I remembered it? For the most part, yes. In spite of a handful of missteps — a few obtuse puzzles, some tedious backtracking, and a clunky stealth sequence — I don't believe the last 23 years have been unkind to it. Ocarina remains a brilliant example of the medium, a landmark game that shaped the future of its own franchise and 3D gaming in general. After more than two decades it retains its inventive dungeon design, challenging puzzles, dynamic combat, wistful storyline, unforgettable music, and empowering open-air freedom. I feel confident calling it one of the greatest games of the fifth generation, even if I'm no longer prepared to list it among the five best games ever made."

Pure unadulterated fun. They don't make them like this anymore...especially not the triple A industry.

FinalFantasyFanatic7d ago

Back when video rental was a thing, I rented out Majoria's Mask, I never finished it though. I did buy the 3DS version before the eshop shutdown, so maybe one day I'll finally play through the whole thing, it's amazing how well these games hold up though. I briefly played Ocarina of Time for a while and it was really fun.

Wii U games that still haven't been ported to Switch

The Nintendo Switch is potentially nearing its lifespan, and several Wii U games haven't found their way over as ports yet.

I think it's better to leave games like AC: Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash forgotten on the Wii U. Best case, they are mediocre games; worse case, they are very bad. It was a dark time for the Wii U, and the first only exists to sell Amiibo cards, whereas the second was put together in a couple of months with a shoestring budget, and it shows.

The rest of the list does have some really cool games, though. I would love to see a remake of Star Fox Zero with decent controls, and Xenoblade X doesn't require that much modification to work.

How would XCX work without dual screens functionality?

Cacabunga15d ago

Same as Paper Mario color splash. One of the best wiiu games and getting even better with dual screen. Same reason why i prefer Splatoon 1

Profchaos15d ago

This article leaves out Nintendo's most controversial game to date devils Third.
I personally found the cover system really fun in that one compared to at the time most fps games completely lacking one.

Stevonidas15d ago

Devil's Third is HIGHLY underrated.

repsahj15d ago

They should remake Starfox to the switch 2. Very beautiful game during gamecube days.

Chocoburger15d ago

Kirby is always ignored or forgotten by people, so good to see it mentioned here.
Play Kirby Canvas Curse on DS, and then play Rainbow Curse on Wii U, they're really fun and unique 'platformers' without any actual jumping.

Nintendo's Massacre Of The 3DS And Wii U Is Finally Complete, Regrettably

Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
