Microsoft website suggest next Xbox might be called the X8

An Xbox tutorial guide by Microsoft seems to suggest that the next Xbox might be called the X8 or Xbox Infinity.

The official Xbox website has tutorial pages that explain how to use various features of the Xbox 360. But what is interesting is that two pages refer to the X8. The Playing Games page has “Playing Games (includes X8)” and the Xbox Music page has ‘Listen to Music (includes X8).’ Which can be interpreted as meaning that the instructions apply to the X8 console as well as the Xbox 360.

There's also a HTC WP8 phone called the 8X. I believe you can access some form of XBL from these as well as play music.

well, the 8 is shaped like the infinity symbol, so if any of this is true (which we won't really know until it's officially announced), the logo will be "X8" but the actual title will be "Xbox Infinity."

This will be a MSFT owned hardware platform capable of being the foundation of all their software products(finally) This thing is going to be a monster that that will be able to be communicated with and communicate with use verbally. Possible being able upgraded later. I wouldn't be surprised if the 360 is able to enhance the 720 in ways we don't know yet.

I will not be buying either until probably 3 years in. I have such a backlog of games to catch up on on my ps3 and 360 thats its ridiculous. Hell, I gave up on catching up on my ps2. I still haven't finished Shadow of the Colossus, Uncharted, or Halo Reach, even though I do have save files for all.

I just cant find enough time in the day.

I feel fairly safe xbox wont use software that doesnt allow use of used games since reading Oxm article on it im pretty sure they themselves would have some inside knowledge and it lets microsoft get away without revealing a single thing for the next console

X8? Name's designed to allow MS to get their revenge on the asian markets after their 2 previous consoles miserably failed over there, then. In South-east Asia, figure 8 is thought to be a sort of lucky charm, a figure that symbolizes plenitude and happiness, it has to do with the Feng Shui "science" I think, the 8 being akin to an endless loop in which positive energy flows without stopping, or smthg like that.

The Airbus A380 for ex. was named that way, with an 8, after Singapore Airlines, Airbus's first customer, came up with that suggestion.

That said, it's a terribly uninspired name.

Microsoft know exactly what they're doing.

Most people who don't know nothing about computers or anything electronic would probably think the number 8 is better/higher than 4. Who know people might even think they're getting double the worth if they see 8 vs 4.
