The PlayStation 3 is (apparently) about to meet its match in the form of a successor, a console so powerful it will probably bend space time and end the universe as we know it.
No, not really, but it does seem strange that a new console is set to be revealed (supposedly), despite current hardware being so graphically capable (at least when stacked up to other console games -- let's not start the whole "PC vs console" debate).
Although, it's probably time to start moving onto new hardware when developers maximise a console's power during development. Sure, developers are now so comfortable with the hardware that they can spend more time tinkering with gameplay mechanics, but, ERMAHGERD, the graphix!
All this talk about the PlayStation 4, it's time-bending capabilities, and upcoming PS3 exclusives got us thinking: just how far have PS3 games evolved graphically since the console launched in late-2006?
Gary Green said: You’ll be forgiven if you haven’t heard of the Ar Tonelico trilogy. The previous two games arrived so late in the PS2’s life-cycle that they simply went unnoticed. While most were tinkering with their shiny new PS3s, Ar Tonelico: Melody of Elemia and Ar Tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica were being ‘returned to sender’ by your local Game stores. Luckily, you won’t need to have played them to understand and appreciate this third and final chapter, Qoga (pronounced k-yoga) tells the story of a racial war between humans and Reyvateils, a breed of biologically produced female cyborgs capable of reproduction, while still having a digital mind.
Oh my god. I kinda wish this would get a remaster on PS5, it would be awesome. One of my favorite games on PS3.
That and 3D Dot Game Heroes. It's a shame that some stuff is stuck on PS3.
Gary Green said: We have a juxtaposition of 2D and 3D visuals, flashy turn-based combat, quirky anime characters with cheeky dialogue with plenty of partial nudity; Yes, this is a Compile Heart JRPG. Whilst the engine is borrowed from Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Mugen Souls is more of a Disgaea spin-off. It’s not a strategy RPG as such, it merely sits within Disgaea’s ever-expanding universe (Multiverse? Netherverse? Your guess is as good as mine). You won’t find cameos though, since Mugen Souls is a franchise which aims to stand on its own two feet.
Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."
Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.
2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.
1. Metal Gear Solid 4 uses 100% of the PS3z power..!!
2. Resistance: Fall of Man looks worse than Super Mario Galaxy.
3. The Last of Us is the game with the best graphics.
4. PS3 is outdated
5. So is Xbox 360
6. Playstation 4 will be shown on 20th feb and PS3 will be blown out of the water.
7. Wii U Zelda will put the final nail in its coffin.
8. PS3 is remembered as a good console
9. Uncharted 2 will be remembered as its best game
10. PS2>PS3>PS1
I'm pretty sure they put up the wrong picture for UC2. The picture's from the first Uncharted. I don't remember seeing Drake in that costume in UC2.
But this is really good. :D the games just got better & better. :')
That Uncharted 2 pic is actually Uncharted 1, the GoW3 pic is from the E3 2009 demo before MLAA implementation and resource freeing up and the GT5 pic is actually GT5P.
Wow as you go down the list of pictures to can see how everything just got cleaner and sharper. Props to the developers for putting in the work and figuring the PS3 out. It's paid off for us gamers.
