The generation that grew up around games and understand games should be the ones that say whether or not they are good or bad for society. All this does is confuse people such as my parents when they watch the news.

I mean, CNN claiming Modern Warfare was a game where you played as a terrorist and killed civilians, when really that was one mission that was almost integral to the story, and you could choose not to shoot anyone AND at the start it even gave a disclaimer saying you could omit the scene altogether.

Think it's dumb trying to blame violence on entertainment. Though they do exaggerate at times we have to accept that we as humans are a violent species. That being said yes it needs to be control but to censor it from entertainment is just plain stupid. Dont know if youre joking and I don't know whether you believe in a higher being or not, but comments like that are troubling and misplaced. Unfortunately there has been horrendous occurrences of sexual misconduct in the church as emphasized in the Catholic Church. I'm not here to place religious views upon anyone, but Christianity does not teach nor support such acts. Don't know if you have read the Bible, but it's a great piece of literature and as a person who appreaciates literature I urge you to give it a try if you have not. Just like the Quran does not teach hate and true Muslims are not terrorist, the church is not suppose to practice immoral conduct.
I think what most people don't realize is that Muslims, Christians, Budhist or what have you are fist and foremost human and prone to error. This is not to say that excuses people from committing heinous acts, but to say we are all prone to error. Not attacking you personally, but I just wanted to educate those because your statement whether joking or not paints Christianity in a negative and quite false light. I think what we have to be careful of stereotypes, as we tend to generalize things too much and clump everyone and everything together.

Then judge yourself on your ignorance. What is conservative about Ralph Nader? Didn't you notice he was a Green Party candidate. Before that an Independent. He wrote a book in the 60's titled Unsafe at any speed. That book and his law suits against the auto industry are the reason cars are safer and we actually have seatbelts in them. He sued so that the Auto industry could no longer put profits ahead of driver safety.

He is an environmentalist and has fought for many regulations to help save it. He has fought to get corporate money out of politics. He has never accepted a dime of corporate money. He has fought for dis-enfranchised voters. Cleaning up Wall Street. The reason he has never been elected is because anyone paying attention knows he really believes in those things and it would completely change this country if he got into office. For the better for most of us. But far worse for the clowns that are ruining it now.

Nader has done a lot of good things in his career, and he should be applauded for them. However if he makes an asinine comment he should be called out on it. Granted it's pretty obvious by the comments on here that most of the people commenting on him have no idea who he is.

I've generally have respect for all the work he's done in the interest of public safety and environmental issues, but this comparison is just damaging to him and the gaming industry. It shows a complete lack of knowledge on gaming, and makes it seem like he's another pundit in the mainstream, which he generally is not. People listen to what he says, quote what he says, and use what he says, so have no doubt we'll hear this statement in the future.

What Nader has done for more than 45 years says a lot about what he would have done. As much as politicians have tried to drag him down over the last 45 years they haven't been able to. He has always been clean. He has never gotten corporate money. He has never been caught in a compromising position. He has never wavered one bit in anything he has said and no one can show that he has. You can't say that about any other major political figure.

No mistresses, no side money, no kick backs, no nothing. I don't think they have ever even accused him of anything because they know it would never stick. Instead they blame him for nonsense like Gore losing. Though Gore lost his home state. Yes the state he represented in congress.

They couldn't have stopped him from arresting the criminals on wall street. He could stop their wars. Healthcare, easy to nationalize without congress. Just like politicians use signing statements to ignore things, they use executive orders to add things.

He would have changed a lot. He would have stopped the war on drugs. Obama goes after people in states with legal marijuana because he wants to. He doesn't have to. Obama didn't arrest anyone on wall street because he chose to look the other way. Fraud was determined. If Obama was honest, this country would be different. Nader is honest. He would have made this country different.

They already are. The 40% gun-show loophole number is bogus and it mostly only applies to people selling used guns as private citizens or giving them to family members. Almost no gun dealers will sell direct to you at a gun show with no background check because if they get caught (and they know that most of the straw purchasers are part of entrapment schemes or crooks) they'll lose their FFA license. So they'll just say no and do the background checks. Evbn most pawn shops do the background check.

There is nothing "moderate" or "reasonable" about the gun control being proposed. it is intrusive and won't prevent anything because guess what...murderers don't bother to follow laws and neither do black market gun sellers.

I agree gaming has zero to do with violence in real life. Politicians know this but they are pandering to a certain group of moron. Many of those same politicians love the military. And the military loves gamers. The reflexes gained by playing shooters fits what they want in a soldier.

The military uses games to make soldiers willing to kill easier. It's funny that the military uses shooters to get soldiers to shot faster, but more than anything in basic they break them down and build them up to make them into killing machines. The same thing the politicians claim the games have already done.

The real kicker is that the US military was already as good as it gets at killing people. No one in history has ever done it better. And our military has never been as good at it as they are now. Many, if not most, of these soldiers being gamers. The military simulators have made it easier for them to kill.

But never in the history of this country(or any other that we know of)have so many soldiers committed suicide once they get back home. No one can figure out why. I think the real problem is that since they like the ability of guys that play shooters, they have recruited them heavily. They are getting kids with better reflexes, that they can mend to their need for killers.

But what they don't want to acknowledge is that when they are through with them and they send them home, they have a hard time fitting in. Because they didn't go into combat as ready made killers trained by video games. Because combat isn't a game. And they gamers, not killers.

But believe me. Nader is often the first to speak out against war.
