Cryptic message hints at sequel to popular racer for PS Vita

A press release from Sony and Futurlab hints at sequel to popular PlayStation mini title.

Godchild10204154d ago

I hope their next title is a full PSN downloadable title and not just a mini.

It's great that Sony made a deal with futurlab to make games for the Vita for 2013 and they get to keep control of their IP. Hopefully they do well enough to want to make more games for the Vita after their deal is up.

Godchild10204153d ago

I really thought Velocity was on the PlayStation Mobile store on the Vita, but I can't find it. It might be coming to the Vita store soon because of the count down.

I downloaded Surge instead.

Good on FuturLab, lets hope Sony do more deals like this to drum up great games for the Vita...

Canary4154d ago

Popular racer for Vita? I can't think of a single racer this gen worth mentioning that's not Mario Kart.

Well, a lot of people like those Wipeout games, and I guess the Vita had a port, so there's that.

But you know what I'd love?

MEGARACE!

Anyone remember those games? They were AWESOME. Bring back Lance Boyle, our favorite fully-qualified dolphin dentist. He's still alive, right?

FriedGoat4154d ago

I think you mean Mario Kart last handheld Gen because MK7 wasn't half as good as MKDS.

Canary4154d ago

Just meant Mario Kart in general. Can't speak for MKDS, but I did like MKWii more than MK7. Though the hang-gliders were really cool.

3-4-54153d ago

I liked MK7 a lot. It was refreshing.

The tracks were good, the music was really good, and the visuals were appealing.

The Hang-glider is a nice addition and the water parts never bothered me although I could take or leave them.

32 tracks plus AI in multiplayer/battle mode means you have infinite replayability with the game.

NukaCola4154d ago

Need for Speed: Most Wanted on Vita is the single best racing game I have ever played on any handheld.

jetpacksheep4154d ago

How Much Is PlayStation Plus Worth to You?

There are articles that come up throughout the year about just how much that $50 membership is truly worth: It adds up to thousands of dollars of free games every year. But just because a game is free, that doesn’t mean it provides the same value to everybody. Seth looked back through the past couple of years of the IGC to evaluate the value I’ve received from the service.

I get a ton of free games from plus. That is great. However the problem is that I do not play 99 percent of them. Any game I want I buy at launch for full pop or wait for a crazy sale. I also have the ps vita and ps3 to go with the ps4. What I am trying to say if I could not pay for plus and still play online that would be ideal for me. Ps plus is a great value if you have the time to play the free games.

mikeslemonade3292d ago (Edited 3292d ago )

When I first got plus when the PS4 launched, in a span of a 6 months I think I estimated that I played a value of like $250-$300 of games that were free.

And their were AAA games included like DMC, Bioshock, and Tomb Raider. Also it's $250-$300 if I were to go out and buy them on sale. I'm not accounting the games on the MSRP price either.

So I was quite impressed. PS PLus is by the far the best free games program. I'm a subscriber to gold as well, I have steam, I have origin, I have uplay etc. and nothing compares to the PS Plus Service. Steam sales aren't that great to me since I can't resell the game. Steam sales are relatively great but still nothing is as good as the PS Plus free games program, specifically.

andibandit3292d ago

"Steam sales aren't that great to me since I can't resell the game."

yes but then again they dont charge for the online.

UltraNova3291d ago (Edited 3291d ago )

@mike

Not that its a bad thing but you should have finished that sentence >>>" I'm a subscriber to gold as well, I have steam, I have origin, I have uplay etc." with a "yes I have a shit load of money to spent on online subs"

:-)

miyamoto3292d ago

Its not just the free games but also the huge saving we have gotten with Discounted Games.
My hard drives and memory card can't keep up.
More than a thousand dollars saved across PS3 PS Vita and PS4.

kayoss3292d ago (Edited 3292d ago )

I have to say, PS Plus allowed me to play games that I would never thought about playing. After playing these games, i regret not playing them when they first released.
I still buy games but so far PS plus have offered games that i havent owned yet. So for me, the value of PS Plus have paid for itself and times that by 10 and times that by 3 if you have all three playstation consoles like myself.

ThunderPulse3292d ago

I would've of cancelled my PS Plus since the PS4 release if it wasn't mandatory now.

ThunderPulse3291d ago (Edited 3291d ago )

@Spotie I was drinking vodka while writing the post so I was distracted.

PS+ is a must if you have all 3 systems. Haven't had a single month where I haven't liked any of the games.

Hoffmann3292d ago

As someone with a PS3 and 4 its a pretty good service to me. There are always 1-2 games there I wanted to buy ..or at least play like Yakuza 4 or this month Dishonored on PS3.

That Apotheon game in February on PS4 was awesome.

lelo2play3292d ago (Edited 3292d ago )

Don't think it's worth it since I only have a PS4. My PS+ subscription finished last month and have no intention of renewing it any time soon. Have the PC for my online necessities...

Now if you have a PS4, PS3 and a Vita, then PS+ is worth it.

spacedelete3292d ago

is it though to me its pointless having free games on all three systems as i only ever want to play the PS4. PS3 is old news and its already obsolete and Vita is already dead unless you like jrps and indies on it. i'd rather they cancel the free games on the Vita and PS3 and make PS4 offerings better.

Perjoss3292d ago (Edited 3292d ago )

The PS3 will never be old news until masterpieces like Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2 and Red Dead Redemption are not playable on the PS4.

Edit: just got a semi thinking about a HD version of Red Dead on PS4, excuse me.

Xof3291d ago

I have a PS3, PS4 and PSV. I still don't think it's worth it.

The discounts tend to be really lame, its moronic to have to pay a random fee to Sony for online play, and I tend to buy the games I want instead of renting them.

iistuii3292d ago (Edited 3292d ago )

I only have a PS4 so I would rather it like last gen with free MP & optional PS+. I think I've only liked one free game since launch, so personally its not worth it for me..Same goes for XBL as I've only got an Xbox One.. Also the free games they give away for the other systems,. PS3/360, I've either played & finished or not wanted so wouldn't play them even if free.
