Ouch, $299 still. I only paid $349 for mine 3 years ago. This makes me wonder why people complain the Wii U is over priced. The hard drive is small, but it is compatible with any hard drive.

-Mika-4156d ago

That because this is a bundle. You're getting 1 year of PSPlus which values at $50. You're getting 3-4 free games every month.

You're also getting a 500 gb Harddrive. Buying a 500GB External HDD from amazon cost $70. So that adding to the basic WiiU and the premium WiiU cost. So that would make the Basic WiiU come up to $370 and the premium $420,and I didn't even buy a game yet.

So excluding the PS3 library of games. What honestly is the better deal?

PS3Freak4156d ago

Holy crap I agree with Mika.

2012 is going to happen. We're all dead.

1upgamer994156d ago

First of all it is not even available for 2 months. I have and love my PS3, I have seen a 500 gig HD, for less than $45 (often), More Modern tech, A gamepad (that makes the games much better) With Internet integration that BLOWS my PS3 out of the water. Those are just a few things that Make me scratch my head at the PS3 price.

cee7734156d ago (Edited 4156d ago )

@1upgamer99

you wont find a decent(you get what you pay for) 500gb these days for under 60$ no where. because of the Thailand disaster HDD's are just now becoming the prices they were 2 years ago in stores were talking $90+

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney4155d ago

I will take ps4 without psn+ for that price. I remeber seeing white ps3 in 2005 reveal. I don't need one just before ps4.

Disagree or not this should of happened 3 years ago.

olLANDSHARKlo4155d ago

Don't fall for the PSN plus that mika speaks of, the games you get for free are trash, and if you ever decide you don't want PSN plus anymore, them games are no longer playable, so you are renting trash games as long as you keep PSN plus, I had it for 1 yr. and stopped, gave me nothing I was interested in.

This is further evidence that the PS4 is not coming out til 2014. If the PS4 was coming out next year the PS3 wouldn't still be $299.

bwazy4156d ago

Umm not really. If anything keeping the PS3 price consistent would only keep the sales of the console somewhat stable if the release of its successor were to be announced.

Think about it, how many people (in this technological driven age) would go out and buy a PS3 when the PS4 (or Omni) is literally just around the corner.

GraveLord4156d ago

500gigs, 12 months of PS+.
Only $299.

I'd say that is a fair price and there this model isn't limited from what I understand so look out for price cuts closer to the holidays.

kingPoS4156d ago

It's even better when you stack the psn+ voucher on top if you already have psn+.

That 500gb HDD won't go to waste.

Oh_Yeah4156d ago (Edited 4156d ago )

I paid 150 two years ago for my barely used 160 gb slim, still had the box, manuals, controller, the account on there only showed one game played. Gotta love pawnshops.

Okay show me any gaming PC or other platform with a bluray player for cheaper or close to that price. Also show me any service bundled with that price that give me a year of free games and game discounts? Also I wanna play all the PS3's exclusives as well? I bet you think the Wii U and 3DS are worth their price tag and aren't over priced lol.

so sexy n clean.. Damn, this n a white vita would be awesome but itd get dirty n worn out from me playing out of work.. Maybe later on after PS4, ill pick them up as novelty items after significant price drops

xursz4156d ago

white vita would definitely look nice in there. :)

AznGaara4156d ago

I am SO HAPPY I didn't buy one on Black Friday! I'll keep my 60gb phat ps3 to play my ps2 games :)

kingPoS4156d ago

Good luck with that beautiful beast. To be honest I'd get another ps3 and transfer to that while you still can.

I had a working 60gb six months ago that was strictly used for streaming & blurays, only for it to tap out when my niece got a hold of GTA4. >_>

AznGaara4156d ago

I meant I'm glad I didn't buy another Ps3 on Black Friday so I can no buy this white one. I'll still keep my 60GB (which had been upgraded to 250GB) to play my Ps2 games on my TV which doesn't have composite outputs.

Rockubot4156d ago

Is Sony trying to copy the Xbox 360 since it has White to.

Gamehard4156d ago

Right.... I guess the same way MS copied Sony when they released black 360s? Seriously -_-

SonyStyled4156d ago

glossy piano black with chrome and built in wifi to top it off

BattleAxe4156d ago

Or when the 360 copied Sony by adding a touch sensitive power button and a shiny black finish....

ceballos77mx4156d ago

Oh and the 360 "slim" can't forget that.

AznGaara4156d ago (Edited 4156d ago )

There is so much fail in this comment its not even funny. White Ps3s have been around since 2007. Oh and your little white xBox, yeah... That was this year.

http://www.engadget.com/200...

Did I mention there was a white Ps2 singtar bundle? Oh and a white PsP. Recolors aside there was this little white console called the Dreamcast, so are both Ms and Sony copying from Sega?

auen14156d ago

looks sexy/stylish. i wouldn't mind getting it if it came with a free game.

G20WLY4156d ago

That's the beauty of it; it comes with LOADS of free games, because they're throwing in PS+ subscription with it ;)

auen14156d ago

for a limited time only though. if you don't renew, you lose them :-/

throw me a bone: ac3, uncharted collection, something like that.

G20WLY4156d ago

For a limited time? It's for A FULL YEAR! lol

And you get appx. 45 full games during that time. How many games out of 45 do you still want to play a 12 months later? 1, maybe 2?

All you're asking for is 1 free game (to keep); you get LOADS of free games (for 1 year), plus many discounts (to keep) and other benefits. Can't you see that you win with this package, more so than with 1 bundled game?

Go on! You know you wanna!! ;D

:) Sorry - your choice, of course and I respect that, but I had to point that out (rather than minding my own damn business, which I'm sure you would prefer!)...

auen14156d ago

weren't they doing the same thing with a bundle recently where they gave you a year free of psn+ and a game? for the same price (or less)

tiffac0084156d ago

You do not need to worry about losing those free PSN games. You just simply need to reactivate your PSN account to play them again and with the 1yr Plus subscription added in the bundle. I think you would have finished a lot of them before your subscription expires.

Mugen Souls Retro Review – Sexy Demon Space Adventure

Gary Green said: We have a juxtaposition of 2D and 3D visuals, flashy turn-based combat, quirky anime characters with cheeky dialogue with plenty of partial nudity; Yes, this is a Compile Heart JRPG. Whilst the engine is borrowed from Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Mugen Souls is more of a Disgaea spin-off. It’s not a strategy RPG as such, it merely sits within Disgaea’s ever-expanding universe (Multiverse? Netherverse? Your guess is as good as mine). You won’t find cameos though, since Mugen Souls is a franchise which aims to stand on its own two feet.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies11h ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken6h ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing6922h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker21h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo21h ago(Edited 21h ago)

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing6921h ago(Edited 21h ago)

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos18h ago(Edited 18h ago)

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt9h ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken6h ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos1d 3h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Tacoboto1d 2h ago

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

banger881d 2h ago

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).

ChasterMies16h ago

Trevor in GTA 6 is a sadist and psychopath who dabbles in cannibalism. Should be top of the list. These game “news” sites should hire people that know games.
