Bigger Doesn't Always Mean Better

As Grand Theft Auto V details begin to trickle out, Rockstar Games is doing what all videogame publishers do: hyping up potential buyers with bits of information that are meant to make their upcoming title more appealing.

The news (from Game Informer's big December reveal issue) that GTAV's setting is rumoured to be "bigger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto IV combined, with room to spare" will likely delight many who are slavering for the latest edition of Rockstar's sandbox crime series, but, when I read this, I found myself strangely disappointed.

You found yourself disappointed by it being a large play space? Now I have officially heard it all.

It's all about getting hits to the website. "Journalists" will make themselves look like utter fools if it means popularity. Shame, really.

that's bloated gamer entitlement for you... complain about every little thing: character models, game endings, cover art, and now the size of the game world.

SilentNegotiator4159d ago (Edited 4159d ago )

Try reading the article and understanding the gameplay implications. Such as stopping and paying a frickin' toll to get to get to the other side of the map and still taking an obscene amount of time.

This article is not called "entitlement"...it is called "consideration"

But when fanatics hear their favorite developers/games getting "attacked", they don't usually read the article, I guess. They just throw around words like "entitlement" and stuff to make their fingers in their ears seem to make more sense.

And don't pretend like this guy is responsible for ALL OF THE ARTICLES on "character models, game endings, cover art, and now the size of the game world"

I'm not interested in the peni- erm, WORLD size competition. If developers like Rockstar and Bethesda worked less on making big, half-interesting maps and more on bug-free, interactive worlds, I would personally be glad.

They only care about putting "1,000,000,000 square miles to explore!" on the back of the box, when in reality it's "999,999,900 square miles of buildings you'll never interact with!"

Eazy-Eman4159d ago

To whomever wrote the article, I better not catch you playing the game.

I can't wait for GTA 6 when it comes out on next gen systems so the world it's even bigger, I can imagine driving from one side of the map to the other side and take like an hour, that would be awesome

Bigger certainly does not always mean better... But 99% of the time it does!

Can't stand the wait for GTA V!!!

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing693d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos3d ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy853d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
